Well here`s my two pennies worth. I use two pcp`s the HW 100`s, one in .22, one in .177. I ALWAYS tend to reach for the .177 first, the .22 doesn`t see half the shooting my .177 does, reason being i shoot sitty trees a lot and "thread" shots through branches. The flat trajectory of .177 makes for very accurate, controlled shooting through trees and their branches. Now then .22 ? quite simply put, i find .22 just as accurate as .177 on "open land" if you know your milldots !! If you try to thread .22 through many branches /twigs etc the trajectory will let yo

Mtc (Scb) And .177 Zero Distance
mark williams replied to Craig Fosse's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Hi Craig, Go to top right of this page to the google search engine and type in "zero point for 177 and 22" everything is there. I use the Mamba Light on my HW 100 kt .177 and find this combination absolutely lethal for sniping from hides. I remember one afternoon last summer trying to ambush wood pigeons in a sitty tree by the crops. I was in a hide using this exact combination on shooting sticks, camo`d up,face mask, gloves etc, etc when a large woody came in, landed, and proceeded to preen itself behind a thick branch, all i could see through the Mamba`s c -

Nice shooting, nice rifle Rez . Do the Pro Sport rifles all hover around 10 ft/lbs ? I know its ample power but thought it would have been around 11 to 11-5 ft/lbs ? atb

Nice read, and one handsome rifle. atb. -
Mmmmm - neither .22 or .177 calibre have ever glanced off on me (up to now). As i have mentioned many times - any calibre to the vital areas of head / heart lung. I did use Hobby flat heads in .22 in my old Feinwerkbau sport 127 on rats for years. They were devastating and used at a max` range of approx` 25 yds - they packed a real punch but accuracy became poorer as range became greater. atb

Trigger 2, hi mate, Yes the lads at my club use A&M cylinders on their 100`s, some don`t . My style of shooting with my 100`s is with the use of a lot of fieldcraft , camo`, decoys , bi- pod/ shooting sticks and steadiness in .177.and .22. For me, i want the weight and steadiness the gun comes with from the factory. The HW 100 - hide/ or fieldcraft shooting is (for me ) absolutely on top of all rivals with the original cylinder in place. atb.

Tx200 Or Hw97Kt
mark williams replied to jandcguns's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Hi jandcguns, I asked the same question recently on here with the same guns in mind. After a lot of trying out different guns at my range the HW 97 in .177 flavour is in the lead at the moment but i still need to try out the pro sport. Good luck with your decision. -

We tested the HW 97 against other springers and calibres at my local range recently (indoors) and the HW 97 was one of the better guns in both calibres. Of which was the better calibre in the 97 for accuracy well that proved to be in .177. "for ALL those shooting it". Which calibre for squirrels - any calibre will "more than do the job" with correct shot placement. Hope that helped any. atb.

What I Am Having For My Dinner!
mark williams replied to secretagentmole's topic in General Airgun Discussion
i bought the book "delicious vermin" for christmas and the recipies look and read very well indeed. All i need now is a rabbit ! Keep the cooking going mate. atb. -
Might as well be the 5th man then - ultra fits your requirements Bry. atb

Very rare i shoot without one mate, tripod shooting stick is "so, so" important for top results in the hide/fieldcraft side of hunting. atb

Watched a youtube film of a guy shooting rats with a .25 sub 12/ft lb air rifle and the rats were "off and away" on the discharge of the rifle the .25 pellet slowly followed - he shot nothing ! He then went on to .177 cal which proved to be a "devastating" rat buster. What ever calibre you choose in sub 12/ft lbs power does not matter, - hitting the vital areas (every time) does ! in my humble experience .177 cal . atb

Rapid mk 1 - lovely, lovely rifles of old. Bomb proof too, enjoy mate. atb.

Hi Gaoler, I can certainly recommend AA field diablo in both .177 and .22 as i only use these pellets through both of my 100`s. This brand is extremely accurate, and hard hitting in the HW 100`s . A lot of vermin has been taken with this brand. atb

I shared this old tale in "country mans weekly" once and it was published - so enjoy ! Out with my best mate Garf` and he took a dog bite from the owners dog (doing it`s job,- protecting ) Garf` was the first to say it was his own fault going through the farm gate he was told not to. Anyway my mate asked me to take him to hospital, accident/emergency as he hates hospitals and cant drive. We arrived at hospital a and e, waited his turn and then very, very nervously booked himself in. We went and sat down and waited and waited a

New Rifle , Hw100 Maybe
mark williams replied to Rowan's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
If its any help Rowan - i have two 100`s ( .177 and .22 ) and am looking for a top springer as "back up " - says it all mate , get a HW 100 for your 1st choice rifle. When you hunt with a HW 100 and miss ,- the only reason for the miss is the person shooting this rifle. atb -
New Rifle , Hw100 Maybe
mark williams replied to Rowan's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Any of the HW 100 range. My preference is HW 100 kt 177 for hide shooting (absolutely outstanding) - sorry Mac HW 100 ks .22 for general walk about on open ground,- know your mill dots and it is lethal. Just my humble opinion Rowan - atb.
