  1. Hi Rez / all, To hear a "pock" after being shot at by a HW 100 means the marksman is crap ! It is so hard to miss with a HW 100. In my humble opinion
  2. When shooting over decoys or ploughed land i am usually prone with the gun on a bipod and all camo`d up. When shooting wood pigeon/ sitty tree, i am sat in a hide with shooting sticks. Yes comfort is a major part. atb
  3. I wouldn`t touch my HW 100, very rarely i come home with an empty game bag. Each to their own i suppose. atb
  4. What a brilliant post. Cheers Moxy and a very big Thank You Simon. atb
  5. Slow cooker over night on low - say 8 pm until 10 am the following day,- just falls off the bone along with the mix of winter veg`.- superb !
  6. Nice one UThunter thank you, another very good recent release (which i have) is "Delicious Vermin" also available on Amazon.
  7. I would agree with pretty much every one`s comments on this topic but i would like to add a slight twist to it if i may. A sub 12 ft/lb rifle under house security and locked cabinet, any of us that have shotguns i think should be allowed up to a 15 - 18 ft/lb rifle on the shotgun licence after that limit back over to fac ticket. I agree with an earlier thread Simon (Pianoman) i think, 15 ft/lbs is perfect in .177. but with shotgun security rules. atb
  8. That write up cheered me up mate - wed` morn` work Shooting Daz.
  9. Just ploughed - shoot with the ploughing mate rather than across it, choose your spot and bait three furrows only. Bait the ploughing up for a week or two, (bread crumb), in the bottom of the furrows,(late evening) and drape a bit of camo netting over a plastic bucket or similar in or along the tree line, positioned running with the furrows and leave it there. By the time a week or so of baiting has passed, bait up as said again,(early morning) place a couple of corvid decoys away from the bait, swap the camo for yourself and rifle on a bipod properly camo`d u
  10. Saw 8 on one of my permissions at about 5pm the other evening. The most i have seen at any one time for years. I will be leaving them well alone as no damage is being caused. atb
  11. A good place to start the "learning process" with regards to snaring rabbits is along the fence lines Clabedoo, cut your teeth there. atb.
  12. Stunning rifle Mac. You have treated yourself well mate. I knew you would give in to a thumb hole stock sooner or later
  13. Shooting bn , compliments on your shot placement. What cal` and brand of pellet do you use by the way ? atb
  14. Shooting ftm good luck with the new permission. atb
  15. I use the Hawke sport HD 4-12 x 50 to great effect ,on my HW 100 ks I use the Mamba Lite MTC-SCB 4-12 x 40 on my .177 HW 100 kt - both scopes are excellent. I am sure i have read somewhere that the hawke scopes do not mix well with spring rifle recoil and can break ? I`m sure one of the lads will come along and put me right on this but i have read this somewhere. Take a look at Mamba Stingray, - they have "lock on" built into them . atb
  16. Took Kaiser out into the fields this morning for a three hour run around. He`s sleeping at my feet now As said, he was into everything and running all over the place as happy as a pup could get, into the numerous ponds, bushes, embankments etc , etc. I did get worried once or twice as he went ranging so far as to be nearly out of sight but he seems to realize after a while and comes running back. I put the re-call whistle in only when he is already running back. I`ll take him out again this afternoon over the local wildlife park/ lake on a long lead to socialize wit
  17. Hi mate - snaring rabbits is NOT rocket science and unbelievable at clearance. Lets stop here mate and go to trapping forums as these are shooting forums and i dont want to lead you astray. Good luck mate !
  18. Is it a "must shoot them" scenario clabedoo ? To clear rabbits" big style" - snares,- so, so, good at rabbit clearance. atb
  19. Hi mate , I would not offer, but i would present £225 in the palm of my hand and then say, " Best i can do, it is a better offer than a dealer will give you". " no friends in business Massa" Good luck !
  20. Hi mate, i hear no younger than 18 months before running a GSP on game ? is that correct ?
  21. Yes mate rough shooting with shot guns and some hide shooting with both shot gun and air rifles My pup certainly ranges but he does not know a gun yet, i am hoping he will put 2 and 2 together when he is old enough to hunt and realise a gun is his avenue to a bird in his mouth. My ground is hundreds of acres of open fields with good game numbers with plenty of wood pigeons about.
