  1. Hi Tom, Send the farmer a pleasantly written letter and permission request with a photo of yourself smiling with your leg in the air. I`d be surprised if he answered your first letter but i would be more surprised if if he turned you down if you follow up the letter with a pleasant, smiling personal visit to his farm with the foot on "full show". I think you would stand every chance of getting permission. atb
  2. Calm down Rez it`s only a commercial !
  3. A lot of shooters leaning towards .177 now and rightly so. atb
  4. Take a look at Vermin Hunters TV (you tube) Static Hunting Squirrels with pcp and spring piston rifles. Take note of preferred calibre in woodlands and that calibres prowess at hunting through spindle branches and open areas . In the open areas Si Pittaway and Davey state the range as being around 28 yds on the feeders - also note the easy field craft being used . atb
  5. AA Fields in both calibres .177 and .22 i find them to be superb for hunting and target work with my 100`s. The lads at my club would ditto above.
  6. you`ve compromised mate and gone .20 ?
  7. Any chance of the pigeon sausage roll recipe please Chris
  8. Excitement - reaction to a fellow bid, wanting to win the bid etc, etc all designed to empty your pocket/ wallet. Was beer on sale as well. I would go and watch for a laugh though.
  9. Hi Dr B,all, i agree with most .22 lads (i`ve been one for 45 years ) but now i`m hooked on the .177 cal.in woodland and precise shot placement. Saying if the branches are too dense and not to shoot at all irrespective of calibre - absolutely. Saying that, if i can see the head of a wood pigeon, through spindle branches, in my crosshairs , so can my .177`s flight path within 40 yds. My HW 100 can thread the "eye of a needle" in these ranges, - the only thing that might prevent that is MY marksmanship not the gun`s accuracy and pellet trajectory. With respect to .22 in the same s
  10. Nice post Chris and compliments on the shot placement, what calibre was you using on those weird looking furry pigeons. Are you near a nuclear leak at all, as those pigeons look like they could run a bit. atb
  11. On the rim then every now and then slowly slide it in :D and mark she likes the BIG THUMB when i do slide it in (22) :toast: not a little one like yours (177) :tongue2: atvbmac  You cant beat the "penetration" Mac -" little" - i`m 1/4 black - whatever you do ! Don`t tell Reginald (Rez) - he`ll never be off the forum
  12. Iv done that my self Mark but i open,d a new tin and a lot of them were the same iv not had any other pellet in 22 hit that hard like the Jsb do im off at 4am to try the HN out hope fully ill get the chance to have a go at a rabbit atvbmac  Good luck Mac i will keep an extra eye out on the Air Arms as i am not a second best type - i like my gear absolutely spot on,as do you, thanks for the "nudge" Mac/ lads
  13. Well i`m the post man for my Air Arms Fields but i "do hear" what the lads are saying about the pellet brands. I have absolutely no complaints," as yet" about Air Arms Fields in .177 or .22 . My pot is always filled as these pellets really do hit hard and accurate. atb
  14. I noticed years ago that if i picked pellets out from their tin with my fingers i damaged some surrounding pellets, so ever since i have gently emptied a small amount of pellets onto a soft cloth from the tin and then directly into a 4 inch drinks straw, (after inspection), stapled firstly at one end and then kept upright in my top pocket. When using my 100`s same applies but directly from the soft cloth to my guns mag`s. I have used Air Arms Fields Diablo in both calibres for two years now in the HW 100`s and find them very hard hitting indeed and extremely accurat
  15. Yes HB i can think of three of the lads from my club sending the Regals back over power levels and their waiting time for repair was stupid !
  16. Well i don`t think about, post images, or imagine blokes arses that`s for sure ! Do you bat for the other side Reginald ?
  17. HW 100 is becoming legendary in the air gun hunting world and hearing of one breaking down is rare. Daystate Huntsman Regal is becoming legendarily "CRAP" in the air gun hunting world - renowned for breaking down with Daystate`s after sales service legendarily crap also. HW all the way Liam.
  18. On small game/ vermin, short, medium or long range, 45 magnum to a .177 pellet - shot in the head "means dead" ! Shot placement is the be all and end all "but" i would agree that there are different jobs for different calibres like the thickets, spindle branches etc, etc.( trajectory). atb
  19. I watched a .25 sub 12/ft lb air rifle rat shoot on you tube not long ago and any rat missed by a .25 instantly ducked the next time it was shot at.The rat heard the report of the rifle "before" the pellet arrived and learned to duck. So they introduced a .177 to the scenario and again went for head shots, the results being "good night Vienna". Talking about a rats will to survive i remember ( as a young kid ) the farmer checking his gin traps in the grain barn - he picked up a trap with a front and rear rats legs in it, the rat had gnawed its own legs off to escape
  20. Billy Idol " It`s hot in the city tonight" seems to get `em going Try the radio on you will see, i remember stumbling over this tip on the air rifle shooting dvd - Total Air Gun Hunting 2 where they sit under a sitty tree with the radio on and in a hide. So guess who had the radio on decoying pigeon - they would land as normal but stand stock still with their head stretched upright, well i wasn`t complaining and always take the radio now . atb
  21. Here`s a little tip i stumbled on when pigeon decoying from a good hide with an air rifle. Put the radio on and leave it on ! This method never stops the birds flighting in but stops them feeding and they stand where they land wondering "what is that noise" ? and gives you the perfect pigeon pose for a shot. Try it ! atb
