  1. Reminds me of my youth seeing that, my grandad had a shed with stable doors where the top was never closed and we had blackbirds nests in there every year... Happy times. Got our local blackbirds on their second clutch in our hedge this year. First one side, now the other. They've lost one fledgling to the magpies this year but i'm glad to say my young lurcher nailed a maggi, whilst they were nailing the chick.
  2. Is this a post, advertisement, reference, article or what and what does it have to do with deerhound crosses (in the hunting field!) anyway ?
  3. Been told to give that Seaspiricy a go... Anyone seen it? ?
  4. Stunning pups, with exceptional bloodlines, a decent price too. I'd snap one of these up in a heartbeat if i didn't have my little bin licking Scouser bred cur...
  5. ?? Superb Ken, keep us posted ?
  6. My lot were a fecking disaster from the new year onwards... I can only hope we have a huge clearout and find players that want to play for the club.
  7. Please do Neal, looking forward to reading them ?
  8. Been reading a bit of this thread, not all and yes, i remember George's dogs being advertised and sold. To me he was a man who 'tried' for the type (breed) and done what he could to keep them working and alive. I'm sure there are others too... But two things hit me when i read this thread, firstly imo, if it looks like a Beddy, then it is a Beddy. Same with white dogs, blacks etc... Secondly, the type as a worker is doomed... Because those that claim to possess it can't see the wood for the trees... You only have to look at the black dogs. The world is being saturated by them BU
  9. What is funny is how much i now appreciate the electronic 80's now. I bought so much of it back then but if asked what i listened to i always said sommat 'heavier'... These days i drag TFF, Blacmange or the Human League out more than anything...
  10. Reading through this thread, i just think that SHH has made his mind up and it would be better for him to part with the pup. No point telling him your own senario's with pups because he has countered everyone of them. It's simply not worth him having his nerves shredded worrying about what could happen. We'd all be better off finding a decent working home for the pup, rather than trying to pursuade him to keep it. ?
  11. No mate, my post is only up because i yern for past times... Feeling you here Tomo. Stick with it and you may be blessed... ?
  12. Were these to the lurcher world what Cunningham-Rice Border terriers were to the terrier world in the 80's... The Shooting News eh... ?
  13. Possibly my/our fave programme on tv. Like some of the comments before, ain't gonna lie, was watching it for her looks (age), against his looks (age), against their life on that hill... And now, its just total admiration, for their parenting, ethic, values, effort, toil, outlook and everything else And long may it continue...!
  14. With the line of half cross lurchers i once kept, the best of em (size and ability) came from close family breeding. ?
  15. Seen The Duke a couple of times up at Lowther in the 80's carrage driving. That's some sport to learn and he was bloody good at it..! A good man, one of the better ones in the RF. Hope he has a good send off... RIP
  16. It's got little to do with the dog imo and everything to do with the trainer/owner. The bull bloods i once owned suited my (limited) training ability and they hardly put a foot wrong. I was proud of what mine could do, from a training point of view. Even better was the Lurcher x Lurcher dog i had from Joe, he was so easy to train to a decent standard it was effortless. The same with others i've owned too. Pastoral bloods i've owned, i done well with but i always knew 'i' was limited not them, in what i wanted them for and how far i could (be bothered) take them. I admire those w
  17. I know very little about cattle Wilf (bar to stay clear of bullocks whilst lamping) why that breed rather than the smallholders fave, the Dexter?
  18. I read Pierpoint hung one of his regular pub customers. Watch the film 'Let Him Have It' for a great insight to how someone is hung. ?
