  1. Called in at Martin Q's this afternoon, he had the racing on as it's Aintree weekend. I sat down, and he drew my attention to the telly, the last race, a horse called Zeus (something?)... "Remember my old Zeus dog Pabs. Big dog. Had him up at the farm? "Yeah Mart, loved 'ol Zeus" And with that, he picks up the phone and immediately puts a decent bet on the Zeus horse. "Watch this", he says, nodding at the telly... Then looks me in the eyes and says, "Remember that day when you came to the farm, and you said there's a hare in the front field, Pabs. And I slipped Z
  2. It was decent enough, she stopped enough hares, and bigger stuff. Nailed plenty of rats, and even came along on the odd shoot day, flushing with the gundogs (quite proud of that one too!) Think I've said on here a couple of years back, I just have a pop at most stuff now, more like I did 40 years ago, but slower, and with more brain and tact... Thanks for asking mate...
  3. Not many defenders of the collie crosses on here now, so I'll put my two penneth worth in, based on what i've seen... I honestly think they are the ultimate 'Marmite' dog in the lurcher world... Perhaps the worst lurchers I've seen slipped have been pastoral types. Those that look at their chosen quarry with almost indifference, picking and choosing their runs. Or those that stalk every time the slip is released, usually making a hash of the catch. Some are just neurotic kennel nightmares, crying, whining feckers that make shitty Salukies look sedate. Oh and don’t forget the 'f
  4. Yep, the RS spawn through to only 2 goals... I'm loving their decline... UTFT
  5. Nice that Kenny, hope you have enough 'bottom bag' to hold that hare... Never been many posts over the past 20 years about gate nets, fewer posts on them being used. The very best of luck, please keep us posted on this dying art...
  6. What a stunning animal that speckled bitch (?) is...
  7. Some fantastic films have been made within that time frame. Get out of the box and start looking at what's always not over publicised...
  8. Train Dreams Stunningly beautiful, totally captivating & undeniably thought provoking... The best thing i've seen in years... A must watch..!!!!
  9. My garden 'was' overun with Mares Tail, tried just about everything, nothing really worked, bar snapping it off as soon as it comes through. Stunting it's growth. Absolute nightmare at first, but I eventually got on top of it, after a couple of years. The key is not to let it get you down, because it can do..! Just keep plucking it out, as soon as you see it.
  10. If you fancy a little tour, with a few of the best boozers thrown in, give me a shout
  11. Bonny pups, lovely bitch, and a fantastic offer. I really hope you find the right person...
  12. 'Ol Ike was handy on the pinks...
  13. Yeah, that description just about covers it... She can find just about anything, and can bite an hole through a wall. Better marking, faster and more powerful than any terrier I've ever seen. Faults, all of the above, and is neurotic too... Well, ya can't have everything...
  14. Must be about 12 now, but stll out-grafting every other dog present...
  15. 100%... Thank f**k someone else see's that... In this day and age far too much focus is on the dog, but a 'real' bitch is worth 10 dogs....!
  16. I'd never want to run a bitch in heat, i'm told they develope fat around the heart when in season, but i must confess, a have done, many times ..
  17. Agreed, bitches can take a little longer than dogs. And brought through 'right' they can be ferocious killers. Everyone admires a good bitch...
  18. A bloke named Eastcoast 'may' have some information for you Evil..?
  19. Never seen a dog from Arthur I wouldn't own... Chris's brother was on here a couple of years back....
  20. Interesting post Evil, a few years back we may have had members who could given you some information. Right now, I can only tell you that 'Glue' is a great name for a working terrier. I hope someone can help....
