  3. Has the lad said he was looking for some reassurance,if he got that through good advice then he has learned something..It makes a change to hear someone putting there hands up and saying they need advice, and an even bigger change for them to get good advice instead of the usual sarcasm from folks needing to bolster there own egos. Then we both read the post in different ways Jeemes. As for my ego, i never realised i had one on here in the first place!
  4. Some bloody good posts on here. Though i can only add that in this case its the typical 'status' bull cross ownership, expecting it to be some sort of double hard fecker at 4 months old... Sad....
  5. Fixed blade, then get a custom one off one of the two makers on here. Folder, i can only quote Ted Walsh, "Puma make very good knives."
  6. Don't like the Americanism of valentines, nor any other American driven day, so on the day a card usually is about it. Next weekend we are having night out at the dogs at Belle-View, staying over at the hotel next door. Her treat, now how romantic is that...!
  7. Ive seen many cuts and bites near the eyes on a dog, even into the socket, but funny enough, its very rare for a dog to loose an eye from regular fox work in my opinion. Ive only seen one terrier that lost an eye out of many hard working dogs. Most fox bite wounds are just minor punctures, and if the dog is treated properly and given time to heal, it can get right back at them! Other than that, the injuries you will see go hand in hand with running a dog, no matter what the quarry species. that the word time to heal summertime we used to call it ray atb AT
  8. If i owned a real good dog i'd be fecked if i'd put it down over a poxy sheep! I've never owned a dog that has killed a sheep but i have had a few 'loose track' and pull 'em over. They never did that again, both from direct action and opportunity. Unfortunately the bin lickers i now own ain't worth shit and would be gone at their first sniff of mutton!
  9. Only echo Roybo, nice lookin pup with a crackin jacket on it.
  10. Very interesting. Looking forward to seeing him 'go' for the fist time.
  11. Shite on the street is just that DS but i'd bet their was far less of it in the early 80's. I'd bet Reid did peddle it for a price but in a land of Bull Terriers the APBT stuck out like a sore thumb. Maybe in gd circles size is the same now as then, its sommat i dont know anything about these days but the gear i seen come over from Ireland after was much smaller.
  12. He's dead.... forever and ever and ever...
  13. interesting post Bosun - so do you reckon these were the types used to get the giant lines bullx we see today?? or would you say there's something else in the mix. ?you used the word athletic and thats not a word i would apply to some of the bull lurchers i see. Suppose it depends on what you see as giant mate. The line i've used threw an average hight half bred at 26", with a couple a inch or so bigger. Those dogs all had substance. A bloke from this city put one to a pure Deerhound and produced a biggun at 31" BUT apart from hight you would never see the DH in it... Thats the stuff I know.
  14. Good intro Mrs E, welcome aboard.
  15. To me, if you are trying to breed sommat back out, you really should question why you are breeding from it in the first place and not starting with just what you want. Diluting sommat down is one thing but you may as well forget about breeding it out as it really cant be done.
  16. Spindolero, the early dogs yhat came across the pond were a damn sight different than the junk that masqerades as 'pitbull's on the streets today. They were bigger, rangier, more athletic dogs, especially the Reid stuff. The old Wigan club's shows had bull classes then and they were far more popular than the Lurchers & Terriers. You'd see 60 to 100 real deals there, held tight by blokes with break sticks in their back pockets. Them dogs would stand quieter than the Terriers and you'd see the disdane of the owners if a back yard cur kicked em all off, as them dogs knew how to roll..! Smal
  17. For once the man in the pub is bang on the money. Remember, a little bull can go a long way. Dunno if its just me but i do think bull bloods are starting to 'blend' in a tiny bit more to the lurcher scene and that for me is a good thing. I just wish more people would see them as just what they are... Lurchers! The way things are on here sometimes, it almost feels like the name Lurcher is being fazed out, as more folk only refer to their dogs by the crosses that make it up.
  18. Spot on Spade, same with my cousins child. This is simply the media making up shite.
  19. Fair play to the old fella, i'd like to think i'm still in the game at 70. Bloody good result for British justice too, especially after the palava that put him in the dock. Dunkanon, give him my regards when next you speak.
  20. Get a proper greyhound fleece kennel coat. Pretty cheap on ebay, think mine was under a tenner. Old jumpers can get twisted up on a dog in kennels and cause distress. Do the job right.
