  1. I hear ya Max and can totaly relate to your reasoning as an individual with your style of hunting but on here, for the vast majority, the idea that a white dog is a 'no no' in this day and age is far outweighed by the different hunting styles folk choose. On a site as big as this i'd, in the main, rather quash the idea that a white dog should be avoided.
  2. Does it really matter these days.... Yer, a white dog on open land stands out like a sore thumb but its never bothered the coursing lads, over half the dogs are near white and anyway, on open land whats more obvious the dog or its owner? Same with the night game, whats more obvious, a million plus candle power lamp or the dog thats running the beam. Oh and then there's the lamper(s), all togged out in realtree gimp suits an trainies, wooly hat on, behind the wheel of his mud splattered 4x4, van or estate....? Yer, them white dogs'll get yer shot...!!!
  3. I went to the Foxbury ball down in Kent a few years back, that was a good doo. Edinburgh is great but rammed. Get a few friends you dont see often enough round and make a night of it.

  5. I've never in 47 years been without a lurcher. I've only purpose bred one litter. I've never sold a dog for profit. My dogs and my hunting have cost me a few relationships over the years and landed me in serious hot water. Would i change anything.... Not on your fecking nelly.... I've loved every second of it and if i could, i'd simply do things better... Long may it continue...!!!!!
  6. Lived alone on an off all my adult life up to 7 years ago. Never bothered me, really enjoyed it for the most part and can open up a world of opportunity if you have a bit of sommat about you. You just need to cut your cloth accordingly.
  7. Pablo, that one wolfy mentions above, you probably seen it work.
  8. Fuji, IMO...all those other dogs, with all those other traits, will do their owners bidding and run when required. love it or hate it, those collies in some cases don't and unless you are a understanding owner, that dog has overruled you and your decision. It can also be seen as quitting, jibbing, jacking and with words like those being used all to often, the collie gets the brunt of the flustration and can get hung out to dry! Me, i just wish folks would stop shouting from the rafters to new commers and youngsters about the cross as a beginners dog and the like because IMO they are, in the m
  9. Cracking job mate, really like that. Would/could you do stuff like that to sell, i'd bet there would be a market?
  10. I think thats the new website for the NZ market, as that country is really opening up to the mountain walking tourist.
  11. Next doors pond is chock full with them, every dip with the net and your in. I told this to some goverment boffins who were 'surveying' the local farm ponds without any luck. Think they near shit when i showed em!
  12. Very very good boot, well worth a look before any purchase.
  13. Great crested and/or toads, the little feckers are sometimes under my wheely bins and i'm forever worried i squash em.
  14. Fell boots but if you think they are too old fashioned (which they aint!) Then put a search on ebay for mountain boots and you'll find some real tough stuff coming up.
  15. Thing is, now you've started her and she's loving it, it would be almost cruel to stop her (and i know that from experience sadly!!!). Hold off a new one, forget about her age and have a fecking good time over the next few years!
  16. Not good mate. You been to all the 'usual' places, Halewood, plod etc?
  17. Paulus is dead right, its all about what you want it to do, no rules in this game. Nowt wrong with a dog age 7 starting either! The two biggest things you need to realise is that you need to keep any worker in tip top knick, especially as they get older and YOU need to be on top of your game to ensure your dog every success...! Apart from that, dont be agest... years left in a 7 year old..!!! ATB
  18. Sad news that, seen all of his years at the cup and a few puppy meets over on Altcar too. As you say, no age... I hope he gets a fitting send off.
  19. Looks like Wales is under the cosh at the min with thefts. Hope you get it back M.r1
  20. WIf its just doorwork you want em for Tomo, just get sommat cheap and insulated. No need to be paying out big bucks for sommat your simply standing around in and apart from the odd dash (either to or away from the action?!) They just need to be warm comfy and look the part. Forty quid sounds right to me.
  21. About 30 years ago i made good money shooting rabbits off an infested caravan park over winter. I used a Relum Tornado with a improved spring. It wasnt the 'classiest' gun to use and far from the lightest but boy did it do the job. I bloody hated it at the time but looking back it was a crackin workhorse!
