  1. My dogs dam was off John Cowan, her name was Lassie but the blokes who dug to her called her crazy horse. No good for digging in the deep Cheshire or Shropshire places, they just used her in rock or awkward (bad) places. Thing is she never really got into bother in the places she was entered and worked right into old age but boy did she take some hammer!
  2. As a youngster i used to be a member of the old Wigan club. Some of the old boys there travelled north for their sport a lot of the time. They worked their dogs in rock and knew the game well and had plenty of expierience in rescues. They bred for that job too, leggy b&t's or sometimes red's. Lot of Cowan blood, drop of Tyson, drop of Park. Got my first digging dog off this stuff, leggy Lakey, with a narrow chest and Beddy top knot. Most agile dog i've seen never mind owned, climb like a cat, you'd think it wanted to spend all its life 'perched' high off the ground, it loved it. Hard as f
  3. Cast your minds back to the glory days of the Waterloo Cup and ask yourself what type of land was (still is) the Withens and Lydiate fields. They are fields to favour the hare against the fastest of all dogs. Which is why it is called coursing not killing!
  4. Makes me laugh all these weapons that folk keep behind closed doors, just in case. I'd have to agree with Gnash, that the consiquences of such kit far outweigh what it could do for you and i'd also agree thats defence not fighting. Just food for thought but the best tool i've seen for such action was a two foot piece of red fire hose, hit with that you'd know about it and the outcome would be much more favorable.
  5. You could contact JP, he bred those pocket rockets and always seems to have sommat for sale.
  6. First off, i'm with Stabba on this one, 'game' isn't a word we should use for lurchers, no matter how they are bred. Secondly if any dog just stood and watched its quarry get away from the other side of a gate sommats wrong. Even if the dumb fecker has no idea how to negotiate the obsticle the least it should be doing would be going nuts. If you think its so good on quarry then breed from it but by putting a doubting post up on here i honestly think you'll have doubts about the litter if you use it. Why spend so much time with that in your head, shit like that'll do you no good. Nope, IMO fi
  7. Nice speedy cross IMO. Get a good un and it should do all you ask of it.
  8. I remember that too AT. The country needs a little firm of Scouse kids to support the hunts. That incident wasn't the only one for them...
  9. Why do midgets always have the good jackets for sale....!
  10. It's been a couple of years now and if it stays that way i'll die a happier man....
  11. It's very easy to get annoyed and say "let's beat the shite out of them" but that would make the papers quicker than a MFH getting knocked out and would enhance the "Animals" image that the antis try to portray of us.Remember too that it's been said manys a time that the 1/2 million or so that marched to London that time caused no trouble whatsoever. This itself shows that hunting folk are decent law abiding folk. I'm totally against using physical force on anti's as they'd have their cameras out in a second and film the hunters being brutes. That's why you should always come up from behind
  12. Dean why not do the same as plenty of others.... Dont bother your arse putting the effort in, simply wait till full grown, run em through sheep and if they grab an kill one, kick holy shite out of it and put a post up here asking about shock collars. Much more fun than putting all that time in with puppys!
  13. The best strikers live exciting and sometimes short lives... But I love em!
  14. Billy Gibbons, Angus Young, Eddie Van Halen, Pete Townsend... Give me the showmanship as well as the tallent!
  15. Had to do a double take there, that dogs the spit of mine. Nice pics up in dem der hills.
  16. Gotta say, those Arbortec boots on the first page look the fecking nuts. Their other boots look bloody good too.
  17. Jack Elam was bloody good in the Canonball Run too! As for modern westerns, Silverado is good, as is Unforgiven but give me John Wayne or early Clint films anyday..! Edited to add.... Lonesome Dove... Wow!
  18. Fecking scum. Whichever way its painted by the media or sabs groups, they came tooled up and ready to go. Though, without knowing the full details here, i do belive hunts need to be more pro-active in calling for police assistance at the very first sniff of potential danger, to either them or the hounds. I hope the huntsman makes a speedy recovery.
  19. Now thats sport!!! Just shows you how dumb some American males can be, because they have that side of their 'football' live an kicking and they CHOOSE to watch them big overblown faries in the mens game!
  20. Be mindful, promoting something like that can gain momentum on sommat like FB, like on here many will not get the joke and it 'could' morph into the real thing.
  21. On paper i've always thought 5/8th's are right but a litter can throw variables and i liked my bull bloods with both substance and a gallop. I was lucky in that i found a line where the half's to half's were all i required.
  22. Working rock is sommat we dont here much about these days.
  23. Came in hard from the west this morning turning the sky black. Blowing a gale and heavy showers, just chanced a walk with the dogs, got a bit carried away on some tracks we found (as you do!) and got caught in hale, we didn't enjoy that..!
