  1. Whilst a fecking hate a nanny state and almost everything that is compulsary. Like as been said, its gonna give the law more power against you if your stopped. My old dog aint getting done, in his state it'd probably kill him! lol Lets be honest, what it will hinder is the mass selling and buying of dogs come seasons end and seasons start... Its those that trade dogs like playing cards that may be sweating right now! I'm just about to saddle-up and go to a freebee session in sunny Skelmersdale run by the local council in partnership with the Dogs Trust. May as well get sommat off em.
  2. Frog spawn in the north west for nearly a month now.
  3. Looked and looked and i'm goin with 'shopped'. The critter far left, as you look at it is a rabbit and far too big. The grunters head is just too well placed, making it so obvious and the foxes legs to the right of it (the smaller ones) dont look natural to the photo. And i'd agree with the placement theory too. For my money there are too many dead critters up there half eaten. If Goldies are so worried about carrion they'd turf out whats left when its replaced with fresh.
  4. Balti... Everything Wilf said and Ruhbarbe...!
  5. As gutted as i'd be, if the lurcher was a decent animal in her own right, i would put it down to my error and if i could forgive and forget, keep the bitch. Dogs that have no bond can be jealous, spiteful things and the way we choose to keep them (kennels, almost seperate lives etc) can trigger quirks in their brain. Sometimes simple nievity and ignorance about life can bring out the worst in dogs. If he can move on, keep the bitch...
  6. Nice to find em sitting tight on clutches. Love watching the cock birds strut their stuff this time of year too. Stalking each other before battle. Had a ringside seat last night as two went at it under the window on the front lawn yesterday. Great stuff!
  7. Though i have no idea if you could find sound working retrievers but if you could, those flat coat and better still, curly coat would be very interesting. Both being rangy enough to produce a good racy type.
  8. Sadly put to sleep around a year old,,,,result of a bust up with my then Mrs ,,,somthing I've always regretted deeply... Shame that Tomo, looks a real handy animal.
  9. I hate dogs that walk whilst shitting, leaving little dollops everywhere. Had one like that but it also liked to walk the path in front of you shitting as it went, like it was laying a little mine field to catch you unawares!
  10. I really didn't think this one was still on...? Last time i went up it was about 20 years ago, 'A Day In The Dales'. Cumbrian wrestling, hound trailing the lot and Maurice laying it all on thick... Good times!
  11. 20 years ago a bloke in the north of the city had one. Real good dog, good finder, dead steady. I liked it a lot. Sadly he lost it just on excercise. Gutted as we were gonna use it over a good bitch.
  12. Wilf, i read the title and thought you'd taken up art...! As above, Maize is best.
  13. Same question as Nipper, as Southport's on our doorstep... Whats the dogs name?
  14. Robbieg's mate did have one a few years back. Really rated it, drop Rob a pm.
  15. Samuri.. Were you once on as Little Lurchers, if so i enjoyed your posts...?
  16. That'll do Dai... That'll do.... Sounds right to me..
  17. Whats done is done... Lloydys post made enough sense to me. Thing is, i've hung on for those extra seasons under a dogs belt to better the pups (line bred stuff too, so i half knew what was comin!) Only to lose the dog 7 years in to a freak accident... Now that boils piss... That makes everything wrong. That can change direction... If you have faith in the blood, then go for the youngster (old dogs are a long time dead!) BUT... and its a massive BUT, i gotta agree with Doubleya, if ya believe the rest to go to grafting homes, they are giveaways, from half untested stock... Just my opinion
  18. Nice dogs them mate, I never put collie into my bulls thinking I didn't want them to have too much brain lol, we did a lot down south and they could get on 4 to 5 a night all ways single handed but some lads back then said the collie bulls were the best they have owned. Here one of the last I bred out of a 8 year old bitch about 10 ago , not my pic I didn't take them back then.I know of that dog, believe it was a handy enough animal in its time...
  19. My Mrs was flat out for one, as a house dog, a few years back. Thank feck i put my foot down. Fragile little feckers.
  20. Kinks in tails can be genetic but in lurchers more than likely a break, not long after birth. Bitch stepped on it or sommat. It wont make any difference to working ability.
  21. Some great posts to add to this thred Toblue, keep em coming! And old photos are always welcome on the site.
  22. What was his original idea behind the lining LPD. Is the Beddy an earth dog?
  23. Grew up loving the Two Ronnies, the very best of British imo. Liked Corbett in Sorry too, Timothy Lumsden... Remember the Amarrilo video with Peter Kay when he falls off the treadmill...
