  1. Seeing a dog work or hearing that rumble of a rabbit about to bolt its priceless. Just pitting your wits to catch some thing with a net or a snare. Walking the fields with a longnet tucked away in darkness all priceless
  2. Never taught mine to jump quite happy throwing him over stuff. But as time has gone on when in pursuit he has started taking on some big fences clearing all sorts. I would rather he didn't as I can see whats going to happen knowing my dog
  3. cheers folks best thing I did was get back into the lurcher side of things. Certainly fills up your time. I only do an hour here and there and enjoy it. The days of big nights and days are gone I just dont have the ground for it in this day an age any more Nipped out for an hour tonight and fed the ferrets and filled the fridge
  4. thats a refreshing outlook on things I have to say . But the biggest worry is a dog you have had being loyal for years getting a mistreated by some some dipstick
  5. One thing I will say they are bloody handy if you just want to pop out for a couple hours or take with you of an evening while you walk the dog

  9. welcome wellie good start with the young dog
  10. Nice post Micky I do like them and any thing that involves food obviously
  11. and for better or worse personally I think you owe it to the dog to see it through one way or the other. At least that's my thinking as I get older
  12. good stuff it does sound like you are slipping him before he has sited if he running away from the beam ? No point slipping at this stage unless you know he has sited that can come later Try get in between the rabbit and home to not all ways possible but if you can then he has ample chance to spot as it comes your way
  13. I love watching that the tension must be some thing else. Great way to hunt with no mad dashing about lol
  14. Good chips are the hardest tgo find, did they all start using cheap and nasty cooking oil or something? I find I get an unpleasant after taste from them yes same here
  15. fish chips and loads of salt and vinegar. Hard to find good fish and chips now a days. Parsley sauce i like with mashed spuds and a nice bit of poached fish either haddock or cod and a crusty bread roll. Me nan cooked it every wednesday after she got back from shopping
  16. not much I wont eat but can't stomach wagon wheels as used to have one every day as a kid
  17. Hands were frozen on the bike this morning at 6.30 and one thing I have learnt is don't whack them under heater when you get to work cause it bloody kills. Better to warm on there own. But its very refreshing
  18. Great to see vin thats what its all about
  19. Dumplings are magical things lol mouth water pictures. Does any one else bake the mixture like a loaf of bread type thing until golden brown ? http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/8476/jills-gg-roast-suet-pudding Delicious with a stew dumped ontop

  21. First of all... Mister gain those pies look the nuts I bet they taste it also definitely something I'm going to do I love a good pie who don't? Jok I always put my dumplings in on the hob with the lid on let them steam in the broth 15 minutes and swell then take the lid of and pop it all in the oven till there nice and crisp on top bloody hell pass that here love the colour on it
  22. Just takes practice so it seems. Having loads of rabbits flying about is some times not a good thing. Better of with one or two in a field. You don't want the dog getting excited and storming around the place and its easier to focus. Slow and steady and get good habits in place rather than worry about catching. If only thats what I had done
  23. My old jr never left home with out his locator on even ferreting. Would often find a fox where you wouldn't expect and I never left with out a shovel and a steel handle one at that He was all ways off lead unless we was specifically after foxes The rest was down to lady luck Fine little jr there too
