  1. Good luck with the remaining pups Graham, hope they survive for ya.
  2. Why ask such a silly question on an open forumYou know they are a protected animal and its illegal to go near them unless your a licenced person with a licence to cull. Why did you not just get shut of them without mentioning it to anyone and nobody would be the wiser..
  3. dezzy it was on the local radio all day yesterday and these lads have been confronted this last few years and now the guards are involved. put it this way any terrier or lurcher lads from the north going south will get pulled in now over these dicks a few people stop the whole of ireland digging,......................everyones talking as if ireland is small lol its not just about digging its lads going onto land with hounds and lurchers with out permission and thinking they can do what they want and they got the media involved. so not good for any lads that have permission being tarnished
  4. I think you will be very lucky if you find a 100% working bitch as no real terrier man or woman will sell 1.Dogs are hard enough to come by,good dogs i mean but a good bitch is like gold dust.
  5. Important thing is CG that you were out and about with dogs and ferrets and had a bit of craic at the same time, lovely day for it.
  6. Its fcuking pricks like them that get other decent lads tarred with the same brush as them.Firstly if a person or persons has not got permission omn land then they should not be there and secondly if they are confronted by a landowner and are asked to leave then thats what they should do without giving grief to the farmer or landowner before they go,thus resulting in landowner calling in the law whereas a simple apoligy and it wont happen again could save all this shit and in some cases gain more permission,GOOD MANNERS DONT COST ANYTHING.
  7. Had a couple of borders down through the years with full tails, never stoped them from working and they were never in any discomfort, not tail wise anyway, lol, but gun dogs are different,Springers,Cockers with long tails are a pitiful looking site after a hard days beating cover plus they also work in places where drains and such are full of bacteria so an open wound on the end of the tail is not very healthy for the dog imo.A spaniel with a nice docked tail will fare a lot better.
  8. Were they not originally a herders dog, also kept in and around farm yards to keep the vermin down, friend of mine has 1,he is a very good guard dog,mad b*****d.
  9. Good pic liam, used to net them myself, always found night time was best, many the time i got bit taking them out of the net in darkness, lol.
  10. Nice litter danny, best of luck with them.
  11. Nice pups, best of luck with them.
  12. Bet it annoys the game keeper when he finds a load of poults slaughtered or worse adult birds, espesially with the price of feeding and the amount of work put in to rearing them.I am not one for shooting fox either but sometimes it has to be done as a form of pest control and hounds of any breed are the best way of driving foxs out of cover. Its the same as killing cubs, not my cup of tea but there comes a time when needs must.
  13. Good luck with pups danny, nice litter.
  14. I have dug for many years without locater systems as they were not about when i started with terriers but back nthen you had to choose your earths to dig as a deepish earth was a no go because unless you had a bolt you would be there for the day trying to locate your dog and if the dog was anyway hard he could take a lot of punishment in the time it would take to get to him, also many the good terrier was lost in the process. With the invention of locaters we can now drop a terrier in literly any earth as they can be located quickly and with help be dug to but i still never lost the habit of bri
  15. We always take the bar with us as i think its better to be looking at it than looking for it even if we never use it
  16. Seen the same dvd and the dog was rubbish, could neither call him an earth dog or a drawing dog, also dug with one of the lads in the dvd some years back, sound man and kept a couple of usefull terriers,i think t5he bnt dog is actually his.
  17. How many lads would love to have a terrier with that problem.
  18. Great healty looking pup Liam hope he does the job for ya,them goats will be running scared, lol also nice looking older dogs.Seen you in borris then got caught in conversation with someone else, did not see you again to say hello, anyway atb.
  19. With a bit of luck she may be in pup, lovely bitch but i have to admit i never liked the colliex,no offence to your dog i just could never take to them.
  20. Everyone loves to spout on about there young charges that have entered 1st time out and never looked back but not very many mention the countless failures, and there is plenty of them.I have 2 to start this coming season, whether they go or not i dont know, but they are well bred and i cant do more than that only bring them on easy.No one can make a terrier work no matter how well they are bred all we can do is hope they do.This thing of keeping a dog that is not giving 100% is nonsence as they will still be the same next season, better to cut your losses and start again, jmho.
  21. Of course its true where else would the best terriers come from, lol
  22. They could be laid out for this year, they dont lay all year round.Usually if the comb is bright red they are laying, slighest little thing stops them like change of weather.
  23. Were we not told at the meeting at in the horse n jockey that RISE were not behind us in our campaign to preserve our sport which is using terriers as a form of pest control.I have been in the past to a couple of RISE rallys and also brought lads with me as a show of support.I am also a shooting and fishing man and love every aspect of hunting in any form but imo the IWTF are a minority among other sports which is wrong.
  24. I was under the illusion that rise did not support IWTF,could be wrong.
  25. Had a mate of mine +his brother and young nephew up for a few hours fishing on lene last sunday. We set out around 10am and were not gone 40yds when owen the young lad 9 hooked his 1st ever pike and he was delighted. He was also next in again with a perch and his da then with a nice pike.We then had a bit to eat on the island and let the rain pass and then out on the boat again. We fished, well they did as i was just on the motor until 5pm and finished with 9 pike and 4 perch, also young owen lost a really good brown trout but they enjoyed themselves as they had never caught pike before. It was a go
