Thomas its usually only pups or young terriers that will bark there heads of while tied out,an experienced terrier will know the score and lay quietly waiting its turn.I have a bitch here that screams the place down while in kennell but while out in the field or working her game not a peep from her, noisy terrier in places can get you into bother evevn with permission. If your near a road or path all it takes is some nosey c**t to call the law even though everything is above board its a nuisence trying to explain what your at.

Not into books or do i give a toss who wrote them, what im saying is i have seen borders work at an early age.I know they are pretty scarce on the ground but there is still good borders to be got.How many black terriers actually make the grade and i mean work to a high standard with the amount thats been bred, bet there is as many failures as borders percentage wise?
-
Not all borders are slow to enter, ive seen them go at 10months,same as any other breed,if the breeding is right they should enter early.
-
Would i love to be 33 again stewrt, still able to keep up with ye c**ts though, then its easy to keep with you as your legs are that short if the grass is long you cant walk through it,Wipeout has to carry you on his back, mind you thats all he is any good for, carrying the tools, lol roll on september.
-
Liam you will spoil him yet, keep him on a lead if you know that there is game about. He is showing great promise, has the red pup done anything yet,ive had there sister out on the bog just exercising but she is turning out a nice handy bitch, nice size not too big considering they are quarter bull, then lugs not a big dog either.

Whippeter69 that was a nice read and as for you making a mistake by diging too early,i would,nt call it a mistake you were just too eager to get to your terrier. We all make mistakes while out on a dig even now after a good many years diging i myself still do,only this season gone i let a terrier to ground without puting its collar on through lack of consentration and talking shite with my diging mate, luckily the dog in question is of the sounding type and the earth was not deep, since that morn i stick a collar on from the minute they leave the dog box,atb with your terrier and your sport.FM.

I think it depends on the water there in,a lot of places that hold rainbows are usually unused quarrys or small lakes but rainbow that are released in large lakes and get a couple of year in them are delicious.
-
I would,nt call it mad L330 i would call it f*****g stupid, why get bit when there are other means of geting the game out to be either let run or humanely disposed off,im no coward as far as handling game goes but im no johnny rambo either.

Liam before i built the shed i use now i used to hang the deer from the kids swing, lol, the missus was not impressed nor were the kids.Have you no room to fix a bracket like whats used on shelving onto an outside wall with a pully wheel fixed to the end of it,pretty simple.
-
I would prefer to shoot them in the head, lol.
-
Pullyblocks CG,i use them all the time with the deer, just attach them to a strong rafter or truss and a child could pick a deer up using them then.
-

6 greyhounds shot dead and dumped in limerick
fat man replied to Carraghs Gem's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
The people that were responsible for doing this are wrong and only bringing attention on everyone in the country that keeps trackers or coursers as every greyhound that is reg with the igb will probably now be monitored and questions will be asked as to there whereabouts and how and where they were pts. When a gh reaches a certain age unless it is a stud dog or brood bitch it is no longer profitible to keep and feed so there is only one end to it.People have been puting dogs down themselves for years as vet charges have gone completely mad and with the current drop in prize money and sales in t -
Why should a bullx have a negative affect on diging no more than any other breed of lurcher, any lurcher will do the same thing if let and to single out the bullx is wrong. Its noting to do with the dogs its all to do with the wankers on the other end of the dogs lead, jmho.

If your pups are bred the right way,{worker to worker} then they should self enter when ready.Terriers are a very curious little dog and will usually want to get to ground to see whats down there, but in saying that it is also very helpfull to let pups see an older terrier do what they were bred for.

fat man replied to jigsaw's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Great looking countryside liam, fair play to the young lad for standing by his dog and making you stick to the bet,but i dont think he will go for that tattoo, lol. -
Perfectly legal in ireland to freeze brand dogs as a mate of mine who is a very well known worker of patterdale terriers recently got all his dogs done, cost wise it worked out around 10..15 euro a dog.Seeminly they swell for about 72hours then after that they are fine.Letters are around 4in in size and eventually come snow white in colour.

Unless a genuine pet home can be found for a failed earth dog or lurcher i think it should be culled. There is a lot of dogs that get passed on up and down the country and are also bred from by people with lower standards and that is why there is so much shit out there in the 1st place, its very easy to tell a complete stranger when they come to buy a pup that the parents are top class then by fluke the pup might work and they in turn breed from it with maybe 90% of the litter shite.

Had the same trouble with a greyhound dog,i sliped a little bit of light plastic piping over the tip of the tail about 2in in lenght and taped it on done the trick. He was a very excitable dog and would lash his tail of the kennell walls or door when he would hear someone coming near.

Great pics tommy makes a change from all the argueing on the lurcher threads, the little lad sitting down seems very a peace with himself.

Must have been afraid of the dark liam, lol
