  1. If her standard of life is quickly goin down hill then its the kindest thing to do,bring her for 1 last walk and do the desent thing for her.
  2. What happens when the duo of dogs get to ground together with both not wearing a collar as eventually they will.I have seen out and out sounders when doubled up take hold 1st chance they get as they feel brave when in company.Dont know anything about coons but do know terriers doubled up are a no no.Not alone is there the chance they wont sound but they can easily get smothered or injured due to 1 pushing the other to get upp to game, jmho.
  3. For the trials it had to be tunnel work as the dogs were lifted every 6min so if it were an earth how would a judge score a dog,he had to be able to be in close contact with said dog ?
  4. Dont think anyone said the dogs at the trials did not work, what was said was they did not have to do a lot at a trial, especially the terriers as to stay in a shoot sounding a there game for 6min imo is not working.A terrier in the field for instance it could take them a lot longer to just find there game in a big place and then have to stay until dug which could be many hours and you cant pull a lid up and lift them when it suits. The strong dogs done what was asked of them again for 6min in silence as was the law but again they had to do a lot more while out in the field hunting.1 thing i will
  5. Trials never proved a working terrier, they only had to do 6min and if they could not find in a man made shoot what chance had they in an earth of way bigger proportion. The trials were great for the strong dogs they had to work there game but your ordinary terrier it was,nt a test, then lads get a certificate and brag how good their dogs were.
  6. Seen a dog, halfx that came out of kings yard early 80s that could well have been bred from said bitch or at least related to her.He was a blue rough haired dog, very strong and a very good all round dog,a demon on fox.I put a 7/8 ghxdh to him and the pup i kept from that litter was a very good dog on all game aswell,he died of kidney failure when about 9 year old, rest of the litter went to england with lads that used to come over diging and with feed back i got they were usefull dogs too,1 was exceptional on big game.
  7. No amount of technoligy will make a bad dog look good,if they are not going to stay well a locater wont make them stay no matter how quick you get down to them, every dig is not going to be a 20min job so eventually the dog will get tested on a bigger dig and if it aint in him it will walk,no one even with todays technoligy can make a terrier stay till dug.As for breeding to improve well thats what we all strive for but we dont breed of stuff that is not 100% a reliable terrier already. What we do is put the best to the best and hope to get as good if not better than what we have already.
  8. I find that a lot of lads opinions on hard differ,i have seen dogs that sound constantly while working yet when lifted from the dig there in ribbons while i have also worked terriers that are completely mute and take hold soon as they make contact and come away with little punishment. Some terriers are hard on themselves while more learn to avoid a thrashing.
  9. Good day great to meet up with old faces, and also met a few off here.
  10. Why would anyone breed of a dog or bitch that lacks drive, thats the reason there is so much shite been bred around the country and then when the dog or dogs dont make the grade the person responsible for breeding them in the 1st place has not the balls to do the right thing and sell the terrier on saying it is doing all sorts only for it to be maybe bred of again and probably passed on again to someone else to create more rubbish.I can remember when i started in terriers 1st.A terrier then had to work all game and work for very long periods of time as the magic box was not about,it was ear to
  11. i totally agree with you . but each type you have mentioned are all working . i ment really with the bull x type working or not should i of put , or even staying till dug reagrdless of the way they work To answer your 1st question,no i think a good well bred staff has as much hunting drive as any terrier and secondly if the terrier you put the bull across is lacking gameness then why breed it in the 1st place.I have a 4 year old staffxpatt that has worked almost 3 seasons and has always stayed the distance till dug to.He is halfx and his way of working is not everybodys cup of tea but i g
  12. I think it all depends on what you would call working right, everybody differs with the way they like a dog to work. Some like out and out yappers, more like a mixing type that will sound away but can up the gears if need be,then some like a hard type that will take no prisioners but might be in sick bay fairly often for there trouble, its all down to the individual himself and what he likes.
  13. Cheers Lads, and ladys,it was a great result in the end,she had been missing awhile until now was well worked while gone but she is ok.I am personally thrilled for the young lad that owns her as i myself got completely wiped out years back in 1 night, its hard to come back from that but i have and will keep diging as long as god lets me,lol.
  14. A bitch that went missing a few months back is now back with her rightfull owner mainly down to the help of a friend of mine MR NEIL COONEY.The bitch in question turned up in a chaps yard and another chap took her on from there to his where a friend of Neils seen her and imediatly reqignised the bitch and informed neil who then phoned me and told me he was pretty sure the missing bitch was in this chaps yard.Well after numerous phone calls t6he young lad that owned the bitch went and identified her and she is now back in his yard and he is over the moon about finding her.The chap that had her
  15. Fine strong dog L330,but where the fcuk were you when you took those pics as the SUN was shining, lol,i need a boat to get down my garden at this stage.
  16. I had a few down the years, each 1 i had there was no prob with entering and all worked well on there game,a little over hard if anything. We lost a very good border dog about 4 year back.My diging mate took him over to his to do a job for a farmer and after a very hard 8ft dig the dog died a couple of days later even though my mate had taken him to a vet and he was on drips and all he still died,he was a very laid back dog about the yard but soon as he hit an earth that held his attitude changed. Also seen another border dog that came out of dublin from a pet home.A friend of mine was doing a co
  17. Good turn out danny, you sign up many lads for thr iwtf, the show will only get bigger and better with time, atb, chat you at westmeath show.
  18. Cheryl cole? I could put up with her moaning at least for half an hour, lol.
  19. I would say all of the genuine lads that still keep the wheatons breed for their own use and maybe share among VERY close friends, you dont see litters of working wheaton terriers pups for sale like you would any other terrier in done deal or any of the trading mags and rightly so,thats why their is still good wheatons about and as long as the lads that have them keep them to themselves there always will be,jmho.
  20. Love playing with danger CG,makes it more fun.
  21. Fcuking english accent full stop, lol.
  22. If thats what you think tommy then you obviously have not seen a good dog work badger {pre ban of course}. A good terrier wont let a badger run past it but if a badger really really wanted to get through he would! Not if the dog in front of it was bred the right way and able to up the gears when push comes to shove, its the last few min of any dig that tests a terrier, the break through, thats when they need that extra gear imo,all back in the good old days when it was all legal, will we ever see them days again or will the polliticions kill our sport forever.
  23. Fcuk me lads if i took all mine out together like that their would be murder, fair play to ye and nice dogs ye got, them wheatonx,s are geting very strong.
