I like that he's willing to pull the trigger, I really do! But he's utterly clueless when it comes to history, protocol and the value of a countries word. That's why it's so important that he is surrounded by level headed experts.

Thank god for his advisers and staff because when unsupported the man's a f***ing retard.

Lovely country to work a spaniel in.

Looks to have good bone. Lovely.

Five places to aspire to then!

I don't know yet mate. I've cancelled the shoulder mount with the taxidermist due to the uncertainty over the government's trophy importation review. He's just mounting the two heads on shields now and shipping them over with the skin rug asap. There was talk that a shoulder mount would be in the region of 1000 dollars kiwi (£500).

I did, but I’m glad I went guided first time. Tahr live in big country! And I got to do stuff that I wouldn’t have self guided. I want to go back self guided, either walk in and out or helo in and walk out. Ideally with a couple others but I’d go alone if necessary.

In short, I’m not sure mate. I’d suggest emailing DoC, they’re quite helpful. I bought duck shooting permits etc online while over there and there are loads of informative brochures in the DoC centres to help guide you. Id be surprised if you need an FAC to get your bow permit. Probably just lazy wording on the website.

If any of you are fit enough to do a days beating/stalking/follow hounds/night lamping then you're fit enough to walk up any hill in the UK.

I'm not a keeper so I don't know shit really but I'm going to say what I think anyway. The future (beyond five years time) of traditional keepering is quite possibly abroad, places where operating costs are lower and politics more favourable. At home, in the UK, I really think we need to adapt, hard! Our value of 'sport' over 'harvest' is going to be our undoing in the 21stC. When it costs £45 to kill the bird but the meat is worth nothing alarm bells should be ringing! The public just won't accept it "Hunting for food is fine, hunting for fun is disgusting". As always, it's a- 48 replies

The chap who owns the company reckoned that olive oil is what he used on them. That's what he told us at the Game Fair anyway.

I also hate that we have Billion pound warships being used to escort commercial shipping in the Straight/Gulf. Scares the piss out of me how vulnerable they are. They're designed for peer on peer warfare and we don't have many of them.

The Americans are operating all over the world in countries that they were not officially invited into. To me the Iranians will look for an opportunity like that to kill Americans, either directly or through proxys. Maybe have a round up of 'CIA' and execute them. There's heaps of options for vengeance without escalation. My comments have nothing to do with who I like or dislike.

The most you could expect from Russians is selling the Iranians game changing tech like carrier killer missiles and S400 air defence systems imo. But they're kinda Putin's ace in the hole so not sure he'd want to risk the yanks getting hold of them.

Having given this a moments thought I'm not sure. It feels reminiscent of the allied cruise missile strike on the Syrian airbase. Or even when the Turks flattened those Russian fighters on the border. The Iranians are completely outgunned here and this General was essentially a representative of Iranian foreign operations, targeted on foreign/third party soil while meeting with Iraqi militia. My point is that it's bold but very calculated. Personally I expect something proportionate in response because for Iran to escalate this to actual war would be the end of them.

f***ing Hell! Apologies if that is not the appropriate response. Not sure what to think at this point.

Most memorable, or favourite topic in the last couple of years

I honestly learnt an awful lot from one of the original god threads. Not so much facts but more about people and the perception of the world and how they then interact with others. I really feel like this site is a fantastic place to study humans. -

Greyman, you’re a gent. Thank you. -
What makes em 'doodles? Surely they should be deerhoodles!

A keeper mate has one in 12 as his 'bike gun', he reckoned that anything heavier just ends up getting left behind as a pain in the arse when doing pens. For that reason alone these little guns kill more than a seemingly more appropriate hi-cap semi etc.

Anything with public f***ing transport to the top cannot be too arduous! I've done Nevis and Scarfell Pike but not Snowdon, which I'm told is the easiest.
