  1. Talking about stock markets, listen to this for a few minutes... Still reckon the markets reflect reality and are controlled by rational people? I'll acknowledge that this very respectable guy paints a slightly more serious picture than I have been.
  2. Just to clarify, you said that we should take this serious because governments are 'stopping the hamster wheel', at the very least implying that they know something about the severity of this pandemic that we don't. It really depends how you define 'severe' I guess but I don't feel that in terms of fatality or health effects that COVID19 is much to get in a flap about. Based on what data is being published so far. If we take reasonable precautions then likely hardly anyone will die, those that do will likely be less than prime anyway and in a years time we'll all be getting jagged for it and w
  3. Yeah, because people are going to die and everyone is already absolutely shitting it so when those people do start dying the electorate will be screaming why the government hasn’t done anything to stop it. Now they can say they took reasonable measures mitigating the backlash. Im not really convinced the machine has slowed dramatically at all either. Not being funny mate but it’s not like the government are privy to data the we aren’t. COVID19 isn’t something to be ignored but it’ll blow over and we’ll all just crack on like normal. As I said, maybe I’m wrong. Check me in six months
  4. Hmmm we'll see. I think they're taking basic precautions in response to mass hysteria. In months to come we'll find out.
  5. I dunno but I get the impression that these management systems are most beneficial to highly developed companies that are working on a multitude of projects simultaneous. Companies that are in their infancy/start ups focusing on a single project/product maybe don't benefit so much as they aren't overwhelmed with work. I'm not knocking you by saying that, I think small young companies are the most exciting.
  6. I think the spanner and code monkeys in engineering disciplines can benefit from these systems quite a lot but I think research disciplines need to be given more freedom to f**k about with ideas. Difference between linear thinkers and lateral thinkers imo. But honestly, I don't know shit really. Getting out of the nitty gritty technical stuff and into a more business focused role (within a technical company), like project management or tech sales is probably a mid-long term career aspiration of mine so it wouldn't hurt t gain experience.
  7. The impact of our version of PRINCE2 project management has been department managers getting out of doing project paperwork because now they give it to a lowly 'project coordinator' to do! It was the perfect opportunity for them to offer legit project management opportunities to staff but they are too stuck in their ways to let that happen and as a consequence it's pretty much died a death. The real benefits of PRINCE2 have not been gained because they won't relinquish control! The AGILE stuff has been with our Softies for a few years now and tbh it seems to have improved things up there.
  8. Leaked footage from early outbreaks.....
  9. Proper gay! Basically means the c**ts above me are actually able to keep tabs on how much work I'm doing...... or not doing! It's INHUMANE!
  10. We have implemented the likes of PRINCE2 and AGILE systems at our place. I wouldn't say I'm an expert but I've worked under these systems, or at least tailored versions.
  11. Purely speculation now, I would be suspicious that the RSPCA have the phone so the police do not have to break the law illegally gaining evidence from it. The consequences of the RSPCA doing it being much less severe than if the police did but the end result is still admissible evidence....
  12. I thought the police could use evidence gained illegally in court in this country so long as it was relevant? Unfortunately, we don't have a Fourth Amendment like the USA.
  13. Kurt put a 110lt pack on my back and it was absolutely rammed coming off! Nearly killed me, the b*****d!
  14. 100% I'm looking at getting a Osprey pack for various purposes but mostly as a backcountry pack. Only thing is their capacity range seems to top out at 70ish lts. You reckon that's enough? Can't help but think 100 is maybe better.
  15. Honestly buddy, the resemblance is remarkable! (minus the brown people)
  16. I post one f***ing picture like a million years ago!
  17. No, I live in a very white 'working class' area. House going on the market in the next few weeks.
  18. You would be an improvement on my current neighbours! Who incidentally are competing for the top spot of my fantasy cull plan!
  19. I mean if we're gonna dig into the demographics who I would consider for a cull then we're going to be here a long time and it will likely end with me on a 'list'...
  20. It was really just a tongue in cheek analysis of what's going on, certainly not a judgement of what anyone deserves or whatever.
  21. Where did I say you don't have a right to, well, anything?
  22. I wish I believed that mate. But I've come to the sad conclusion that through science and innovation we can literally ruin this planet and still likely survive. I identify quite strongly with the Unibomber!
