Far be it from me to stick my nose in but if I got another lurcher and wanted to bring it along shooting I reckon I'd want it broke to all game birds. Let the big dog concentrate on the quarry it's made for and not charge about mugging off birds, if ya get me? A bull cross knocking about the line with the spaniels, that's totally broke to feather, on the right kind of shoot, could make for the occasional bit of sport. Just a thought.

Leopard seals are one of my favourite animals, but no it wasn't, just a regular English common seal.

I was feeding one sand eels once off the rocks and when I ran out of sand eels the b*****d tried for my hand! I'll be armed so I'm not too fussed. See what happens naturally, I'm not going to force myself on them. (I can already hear the vulgar innuendo you lot are thinking up) LOL

Yeah I've read about night dives, not sure I'm ready for that! If I heard whales (probably humpbacks) singing then I'd be absolutely made up. Hope to bump into some seals one day too.

You can have Birmingham then and leave the East Mids south of the border! Can I suggest letting the sea reclaim East Anglia while we're at it?

I've just come back from a weekend down there, I just love it. Got some spear fishing kit arriving this week and already planning which coves I'm going to trek to and maybe spend the odd night at in the summer. The quality of sport down there is top class for most fieldsports. The coast is second to none, the weather is better. And the people don't have a chip on their shoulder with the other half of the country! I don't mind the North at all, some belting places, but I'd be a liar if I pretended to not favour the South.
-
Which way would the Midlands go? Well I prefer the South West over anywhere else I've been on this island so this Midlander would choose the South. And for all the shit folks talk about London it's probably our best city for a tourist.

Only seen homeless on the streets of NYC in the US. But I’ve seen a woman, I assumed to be a refugee, on the streets of Paris with a newborn (few months old, not minutes)! Bang in the middle with tourists and Parisians all over, not out the way like. Like it was normal... I’m no saint or hero, I did nothing about it, but that’ll stick with me for many years.

I honestly don’t know what he got himself in such a state about!? He was living the dream! Id not have left!!!

Tbh the first thing that comes to mind is being castaway for a month or so on a tropical island with reefs to spearfish, feral goats to bow hunt, a tarp shelter to watch the thunder storms and unspoilt night sky. Absolute solitude and freedom...

I'm wondering about getting a big one, cutting it in half and giving it a ply base and then cutting a pop hole through it. The ply base could be hinged to allow for easy opening and obviously the roof would be flat for the dog to lay on in warmer weather (top or bottom of the actual barrel). Be ideal for the spaniels and terriers I'm keeping at the mo maybe perhaps need whole barrel though for lab and lurcher sized dogs....

That's what I liked about the theme, being able to tailor it to be personal. The mythology is so rich. A soldier might want Aries and Athena, a builder/creator might want Hephaestus or Prometheus and a 'live in the moment' partyer Dionysus. Loads of potential for background and filling too, Artemis could have hounds and forest, Poseidon wild horses or crashing waves etc. I liked the idea of an Aphrodite/Adonis scene too.

Max, you clearly don't understand me but I'll entertain this for a moment longer. Given that I'm not a wealthy man, I would rather spend two thousand pounds plus on actually doing shit that defines me, rather than spend it on art work that tells everyone what man I want to be but aren't because I'd preferred to spend the money on telling them than actually doing it. Christ, you're hard work.

Feels like a waste when two grand would send me back to the mountains actually being the person I want to be rather than just pretending to be with showy tattoos. I don't eat oranges....... throwing the peel away feels like waste.
-
I spoke to a mate who's addicted to tattoos and she showed me the work of an artist she knows, it was a piece based on Hades, which was to have Zeus added to complete it, sort of like equal and opposite in meaning. Anyway, he's the man for the job without doubt. I probably prefer the classical Roman art style but with the ancient greek theme. Tattoo or not, it's a cool bit of art and culture to me. Love reading about it.
-
You putting up the two grand for me? Because two grand of my money is better spent on stuff I can use. Never mind 3-4 days off work for the sessions. It just ain't that important to me. I'm a casual admirer.
-
I like the idea of tattoos but I'm too utilitarian to 'waste' money and time off work on them and too 'serious' to have a cheap shit one. After a lot of thought I came up with the perfect piece for me, a sprawling scene of various ancient Greek mythological figures, Artemis, Orion & Poseidon with potential to add more. One day if ever I have more money than sense.

We're too good at dealing with these things these days. It'll take something radically evolved to catch us off guard and make any significant impact on the global population. Even then I doubt it'll be a full on 'system reset'. Conflict over resources imo is the most likely cause, if it is to happen. Possibly when China seriously challenges US hegemony and ends the Pax Americana. Who knows.......

Let's hope it wasn't rabid! But sounds like it was, odd behaviour.
