  1. I'm more than happy with my collection of 452!
  2. Aesthetically I'm definitely not a fan of the Royal, but its a CZ and I'm sure it will work well which the main thing!
  3. I'm getting a bit confused here, rats/mice have no taste bubs but do have a great nose. I have no experience of Peppermint oil and if it works I have no idea why, perhaps its something to do with oil itself rather than the peppermint, I don't know why a peppermint odour would put them off, but hey, who knows?????
  4. I have used the T1x with a GRS stock, and whilst the stock offers a lot (and easy) adjustment I didn't find the pistol grip particularly comfortable, just too bulky for me, and my hands are not small. Also looked at a GRS stock for our new Club .223 Howa, but same, issues, frankly I'm not knocked out with the build quality either. The kit looks a good option! Now this is what you call a pistol grip, Oryx stock we ended up with on the new club .223. (no Idea if its available for T1x)
  5. I hear what you say but I have a lot of different calibres because they each do a job, of course there are elements of overlap, but a Hornet is way more than a HMR (too much more in some situations) and not everyone has a desire to reload.
  6. For a workhorse of a rifle then I'd stick with the CZ, trigger kit or not! You will pay more for most others, and in some cases a lot more for no improvement in the things that count, accuracy, repeatability and reliability. If you really are moving away from CZ most others seem to work ok, but if you are determined I hear good things about the new Tikka T1x.
  7. If your scales are correct that is a decent size, I always look at 20lb (about 9kg) or over as big, so 10kg sure beats that!
  8. Nothing is impossible but the GLUE is a weird and wonderful creation and VERY sticky without setting, they stay sticky for years.
  9. The studs were all bolt/nut types. The Sticks like... was there to fill and totally lock everything into position so knocks/vibrations wouldn't cause the nuts to come undone. The work shown was several years ago (about 7 I think) and everything is still holding well so I guess it works ok!

    Brexit

Unfortunately is does look like Parliament is (and has been) going out of its way to make sure we don't. Regardless of the deal Boris has, 31 October will tell the real tale!
  11. Very complicated area. Energy, calibre, distance, bullet type, quarry etc etc etc V-Max types are destructive for quick kills, they work well and passthrough (if any) tends to be a mass of shrapnel which doesn't usually travel far. I am watching with interest!
  12. They have their uses but I tend to treat them as last resort. The EU has been looking at banning them for years, but if checked REGULARLY, they can be useful!
  13. If they are 50mm long as mentioned in the OP they don't belong to any deer I know in the UK! Neither are they fox or badger. I don't know what they are but they look more horse/pony??????
  14. If I wanted to use this as a field setup I would have bought the Sporter barrel/action and probably a different stock. This is an Oryx stock with varmint barrel...its heavy, but then again some like heavy! Whilst I like the Pistol grip I doubt I would have bought this stock for field work, but there is nothing to stop anyone who wants to use it as is, in the field, too heavy for me to cart around though!
  15. Generally 30mm tubes are ok, but you still rely on scope and ring manufacturer tolerances. I find issues can occur with 25mm/1" rings and scope tubes. 1" is 25.4mm so they can be mixed up. If that isn't the issue then it goes back to manufacturing tolerances or over tightening.
  16. You're not into hanging them for a while then????????
  17. Always interesting to see these sort of things!
  18. I didn't need to remove the action out of stock to fit rear swivel, just the front...I don't know your gun so who knows! Rear stock was fundamentally the same as front, took off the shoulder pad, drilled stock, used a small washer internally to spread load and Sticks like shit all over again after stud nut was screwed on. Job done!
  19. Don't know about barrel or this particular stock but I fitted swivels to my Magtech. It was a matter of making a small steel plate to spread the load, fitting a normal swivel and then filling the lot with "Sticks like shit" so there would never be a problem. Not the best pics but you get the idea, rear stock was easier!
  20. First of many no doubt...remind me which .223 you have. Cheers
  21. I think others have explained, I don't fully follow the chart as there do seem to be some odd anomalies. http://www.varmintal.com/17hmr.htm This is the link if it helps! Again, as other have said cutting the barrel down is going to make a marginal difference in reality, don't be tempted to cut to much off first go though, its hard to glue it back if its too short!
  22. Are you in Australia, who knows there!? As Villaman says, very new and unlikely to get any hands on experience in the UK for a good while yet. My WMR is a 452, so other than coming from the same manufacturer not a lot of help, except it has performed well as do all CZ's!
