  1. So does mine, so does a Hornet, .223, ,243, etc., but my opinion remains, for the 3 species listed HMR is my first choice!
  2. HMR edges it for me over the WMR. My WMR is very capable and gives me a lot of confidence, if the question was fox then as a general response I would probably have said WMR. Add rabbit and crow into the equation and the balance tips to HMR in my opinion!
  3. I am quite simply making the point the W&C Act, in simple terms wants rid of non indigenous species. The fact that we have a non indigenous species, the CWD (escapees from wildlife parks by all accounts), which may or may not be of International significance in relation to the entire population is not the problem of the W&C Act, it is in contradiction with the Act to protect CWD, so why on earth did the Government give it a season a few years back? I haven't noticed any sections in the W&C Act that says we can protect non indigenous species if we have more here than anywh
  4. HMR is perfectly capable on fox to 110-130 yards (some will say more) but I'm comfortable up to about 130, and easy on rabbit, crow etc. Everyone has different requirements but the majority of my fox are under 100, so a HMR does it easily.
  5. The .223 edges the, energy, availability, popularity area, but the .222 may just have the edge in accuracy and is a tiny bit quieter. In the real pest control world the performance difference is hardly worth talking about. .223 for me though.
  6. I know, but it still makes no sense to me, on one hand the W&C Act "virtually" declares warfare on non indigenous species and then we give the CWD a Season! Bonkers!
  7. Why not. The CWD is non indigenous and I have no idea why it was ever given a season if you look at the W&C Act. Should be eradicated from the Country, as should the highly destructive Muntjac.
  8. Terrible situation, and the circumstances don't bear thinking about.. Only up the road from me, and virtually within spitting distance of Sulhampstead Police Training College.
  9. Night vision tends to be digital of Infra red, whatever it is, you need quite deep pockets.
  10. They do have a thump the 50g (but an arc as well), my WMR lives on Hornady 30g V-Max these days, does everything I need of the WMR.
  11. Hi, a bit more about you would be interesting/useful/helpful!
  12. ????? There is life outside Chester!
  13. Shame, I had money to spend, makes no sense to me, a new member posting like this and not bothering with anything afterwards!
  14. Full of can, maybe, perhaps, ignorance, etc....but if nothing else a good reason NOT to vote Labour! Labour calls for review of grouse shooting on eve of ‘glorious 12th’ © UIG via Getty Images Gamekeepers burn a grouse moor in the Yorkshire Dales. Preparing moors for shooting can also involve draining and drying the land, destroying wildlife. Labour has called for a formal review into driven grouse shooting to examine its environmental and economic impacts, as well as possible alternatives such as simulated shoots and wildlife tourism. Under such shoots,
  15. Seen similar but nothing quite like that!
  16. After a decent clean of a SAK some years back I had the idea of putting all the pieces into the dishwasher and gave it a good seeing to just to finish things off. I was more than a little surprised how mush top and bottom faded, but everything was pretty clean!
  17. Not done than many yet, and lots still Vicam D. Perhaps I'm just old school but the Vicam works and I'm confident with it...……... Vulcan leaves me nervous!
  18. Autos tend to be MARGINALLY less accurate than BA, but very rarely enough to make a difference in Pest Control. I have always been impressed with how good my Magtech 7022 is, even though it is cheap as chips, weights nothing and the trigger is awful (but getting better).
  19. That first pic looks just like one of my shoots, but I guess a cut through pines looks pretty similar all round the country!
  20. They are pretty fast, and noisy and more aggressive than 222/223. Many who have them love them, how many foxes do you intend to shoot, barrel wear will undoubtedly be a bit more than slower calibres but don't let that alone sway your opinion. Performance increments over a .223 are marginal, I use a .223 at 600 yards on targets without much issue, plenty of energy to stop a fox at that distance with .223 although I have never tried that far. Why do you suggest 200 to maybe 300 yards, fox are easy to train, is there a reason you can't get them closer?
