Quite so, I don't even see it as a replacement, it is just another calibre to do a different job! 140g at 3000 ft sec isn't a replacement for 55g at 3300 ft sec, its another animal altogether!
-
Must be worth a look, these are new to me, but be careful of Marketing Language Spot animals out to 500yards with clear useable beam identification out to 400yards. Just the same, those figures MAY mean you can shoot out to 200!

.17 HMR Fox- heart or heart shot? Plus ammo.
Deker replied to Billy_boy_2010's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Some people will hail the HMR with much further distance, I actually agree on 130 yards and I'm easy up to that sort of distance with the HMR or WMR. If I know I'll be shooting further I take something bigger! Wind is an issue with every calibre, some more than others, but the HMR has a wind drift issue that I personally think is a bit overdone! Just the same, if you are in a particularly windy location and looking at medium,/long shots regularly, then perhaps a step up from HMR is a good idea! -

The HMR has somehow developed a reputation for wind issues, the .22lr is WORSE, so I don't get it! Check out the Federal site you can compare the ammo! -
Anyone selling a cheap .17 HMR ?
Deker replied to whitefeet4190's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Check the usual places, guntrader etc, but be careful if it really is cheap, there will usually be a reason! -
I thought this would be easy but I can't find an answer. Best I have is Midnight Central European time which I am told is 23.00 UK. Can someone please confirm the UK time we actually leave. I'm planning a party and fireworks and it would be more than embarrassing if I got the time wrong! MANY THANKS!

Its about bullet weight and powder load, generally you will find 22-250 will recoil more than others in the group, but as SD said not a lot. You are not chucking a 150g++++ bullet downrange with a 22-250. -
???? Its got to be chrome/silver, not the gold type colour!

Seems the mild weather is making them wake up, I've seen both wasp and bee already, and just seen the referee stung at the Masters Snooker. Funny old world, if we get a cold spell now which kills them all off it could be quiet season!

Thanks all, making enquiries of Powder coaters...estimate to chrome plate the stuff in my picture is £300...wasn't expecting quite that much, still a lot cheaper than buying/fitting new fire!
-
Thanks, emailed them pics asking for advice/costs! Found someone else in Wembley and in Alton, they all seem a fair way off, such is life! Edit...…. thought about Powder Coat, but concerned about temperatures, top centre of fire surround gets VERY hot (too hot to touch), the rest seems ok, need to find out more about Powdercoat, is there very high temperature stuff about?

Decorating time and I was going to get a new gas fire for the living room in Chrome, the gold is going, Then I thought about getting it chrome plated, the fire works fine, just the wrong colour. I need all this plated, the grate front can all get done, not jut the gold bits. Anyone know anything about chrome plating, any idea of costs or where I can get it done, as close to Reading as possible. Cheers

Now there's a strange thing, many here have spoken about various rimfires bouncing on their quarry, of course it can happen, but I actually witnessed a .204 splash on a fox, fortunately the guy shooting was alert and good and got another off quick, one regret I have is never taking a picture of the splash. Some who have .204 swear by them, others have moved on quickly and whichever way you look at it .204 has not taken off in the UK. -

I deal with a lot of foxes, and a lot in peoples back gardens. .22lr, HMR and WMR are all very capable of fox. Of course there are times a C/F will prevail, but comments I hear regularly that rimfire is no use on fox you need centrefire is bollocks, It's about the situation!!! Same with head/chest/bib shots, none are better than the other, you have to weigh up every situation and place the shot to best advantage. . -
How are you ...long time no see!!!!

I'm at a loss. I never did see any longevity in this marriage but Harry has a mind of his own and I thought he would keep her in check! In truth I have not seen Harry since the wedding but this is not the actions of the guy I know (knew). I don't get it, and I don't like it, sort her out or sort yourself out Harry!!!!!!

I have the Deben Mini and Max, both with battery packs and they are fine, the extra weight is primarily in the battery pack which is separate. I think you can still find a few of the lamping kits about and some are (were) just about good enough for 200 yard shooting. Many (including me) tend to use the torches or NV more these days, again, the torches can make 200 yards but be careful to get a bright one, most also have variable light levels, where my lamping kits all had full dimmer switch control. The NV these days is really pretty good, and there are many variants which mak

Happy New Year all...been a busy time. The Remington Subs apparently continue to be a pain, must be a good 5 years ago I last bought any and experienced just the same issues as SD. Long while back I used the Remington Yellow Jacket HP, about 1500ft sec I believe and it was absolutely great in my 452, but their subs have been a nightmare forever. As mentioned above mine is the Magtech 7022, (Mossberg 702) cheap as chips, very light but remarkably accurate and reliable! Brilliant with all manner of subs.

I think they are Romano...still cropping well in my conservatory...and mild and sweet! Cheers everyone!

Depends on the situation/location. I use all the usual, tethered rabbit etc in the countryside, cheap runny tinned dogfood and in a bowl, the good/expensive meaty stuff is no good as they can virtually pick it up and run off in one mouthful, or mixer type/small dog biscuits, scattered around to lead them into a pile. They all work, as no doubt does lots of other things!

It was the GRS Beserk stock I used on a T1x, should be able to get the whole package under £1k. PS. Coincidentally I had to make the trek to Livens to get the club gun shown earlier in this thread!

?????????????? Its a target rifle, take a look at Modern target rifles, most look like something out of an Arnold Schwarzenegger film, the stock is solid and rigid and aluminium, (as well as adjustable) it has a proper F Class type bipod now as well and the whole setup is heavy. Anyway, we were talking about Pistol grip!
