I don't do slate roofing, so wouldn't comment much on it... Over the past 30 years I've pretty much worked on most types of commercial and industrial builds from the ground up, was asked by the holding company of KFC to redesign their existing building envelope to improve the air tightness, this was rolled out nationwide, we built them from Penzance to Glasgow, had to sit countless meeting with architects and other contractors to ensure our details were rolled out, I believe this became the details for all KFC drive through builds after... we had a large supermarket contract, steel, roofi7 points

Had a walk down the river tonight. My lad took this picture. Murphy getting old now at 9. Bit of grey creeping through on the muzzle and he’s started to slow up a bit.6 points

Mate I live in a house that dates back to 1054, with add ons through the tudor and Georgian eras...insulation no, double glazing no....but... If I was building a new house I'd insulate the floors, walls and roof..I'd choose a pitched roof as I think they look better for starters, plus give you a vaulted ceiling so increasing head room.... but as with everything else you've probably built more than anyone else on here, there aint much you don't know about eh6 points

Collie crosses are hit and miss. They vary in size, shape and temperament. I can't get on with them. They are to quote others" wired to the feckin moon". They suit some personality types down to the ground. But not others. Marmite for sure. I'm guessing the lab first cross would be difficult go fall out with, easily trained , natural retrievers , with a wind and water resistant coat. In theory that is!5 points

Yeah .... So went to a nice old ladies place in town who raises all sorts of critters to buy some more quail to replace some we butchered. Really sweet old lady and she was super happy to walk around show us all her set ups talk animal breeding, feeding processing making jams and all sorts of stuff. Anyhow ends up she raises rabbits right? Aaannnd my wife always wanted a pet rabbit.... So $40 for some quail ended up being $90 for some quail ...a rabbit annnnddd a rabbit cage . Shes over the moon about the little critter.... But now she's looking into raising meat rabbits .... Take a girl out t4 points

Well, anyway, today I’ve not been building in the west of ireland…..I’ve been soaking up the sun in Greenwhich by the river ! Pie, mash and liquor and a mug of strong tea for breakfast. Then a nice walk round the park, market and Maratime museum….stood in front of Admiral Lord Nelson’s clothes that he had on at the battle of trafalgar (I’ve done it many times in my life, but it never gets old) Back out and along the river to the Trafalgar Arms with my oldest boy, daughter and her boyfriend…..sat and had a pint of coke with lime and ice, they had Peroni and watched the rive4 points

f****n millions of tales. I remember one klondyke of a tide where 7 of us caught over 100 salmon. I remember having to come out of the water one night because of floating dead cattle. They were spooked in a thunderstorm and came over from Cumbria trying to reach the Scots side. Horrible. If you got one caught up in the net you were a gonna. I cracked a rib once chasing a salmon in shallow water. I fell heavily. If you were young and fit ,certain conditions meant you could run after them and net them. There were a lot of dummies spat out if one man beat you to a fish. A lot of eg4 points

Why would you put underfloor heating without insulating the floor? Not wanting to sound a c**t but either your talking through your rear end or you were dropped on your head as a youngster4 points

KFC style rabbit is good eating...i recommend that you confit the meat for a few hours and then leave to cool prior to coating and deep frying, delicious4 points

The other thread got me thinking about lamping motors, what I’ve had, what I’d like, and what I’d like but would be totally ridiculous ! A Range Rover I had in Saudi; Great out there but not much good here at around 11 mpg ! A pick up I seen in the Middle East; Bit of a giveaway if you’re poaching ! My dream pick up, fastest pick up around Nurburgring, but maybe lacking a bit of ground clearance for dog work ? The yanks use these for coyote hunting, but maybe a bit overkill for here in the UK ? This one certainly looks the part though3 points

I’m a pretty simple bloke mate (as I’m sure many will vouch for ! lol) and I like simple little moments if that makes sense. I was born and brought up round there and I just like the place, I wouldn’t want to live there but it’s nice to visit…..took my wife there for our first ever day out 30 years ago, I was a bit lighter in them days ! lol3 points

Most people seem to have 1 of these so I'm a bit late to the party but got 1 yesterday. Mostly cook for 1 these days and getting a bit lazy, fresh veg = too many pots and cleaning etc. Chips tend to be oven ready, a blasphemous thing to say on here I know. Purchased to give the home made chips thing a try as can no longer be bothered with deep fryer and chucked the chip pan out years ago due to H&S. Fresh veg without all the pans would be a bonus. Tried air frying sausages yesterday, good quality sausages. They were definitely cooked and edible but without the lovely sausaginess that3 points

I'm not judging anybody just jesting. Sometimes sport went out of the window when times were tough. A fella I knew used to poach pheasants and throw the metal wing tabs out of the car window outside the keeper's cottage. Just for spite. Disgraceful! OK it was me.3 points

Never been in retirement . It's easy to bring the little fry to the top every now and then you catch your self a big un. With Scotty I've caught myself a big un. Same with Gunter. Honest it's ace. When you get guys like them that say you've done f**k all. Then let them eat their words. We've had a good 6 months , all the bull shit talk on here. Happens every summer. Who's doing this with the dogs , I'm kenneling the best dog. Then you get someone that just doesnt say shit about their dog. Come on the day. Then the hankeys out. Haha. Dribbling c**ts.3 points

200/300 mm Insulation goes down first,on top of your block and beams...you only have 70/80mm of easy flow concrete to cover the pipes....or it don't work3 points

Read most of the poaching books over the years the one that stood out was by Harold Wyman the great game. TBH I enjoy reading about big game hunting and man eaters rather than most books wrote about hunting and what not in this country.3 points

Come on fellas most seem like reasonable sound men on here. This poor seagull isn’t a very well young man we have all seen the chap always on the fringes of society and can never fit in due to being socially awkward. Can’t help but say the wrong thing all the time then dig a hole for himself in a tantrum when anyone says anything. Hopefully he finds the home and friends he’s looking for in his new coursing community but I’d have my doubts. Hopefully the safety and comfort of the forum gives him a little bit of respite from whatever his condition is3 points

Years ago l raised a few rabbits supposedly for meat after being given a few old commercial rabbit cages. We were running on the good life , self-sufficiency vibe . Silly really as l could get plenty of wild rabbits for the pot and have a surplus to sell without the bother of cleaning cages , rearing and feeding the tame ones. Another weird thing was killing the white fluffy ones : l just didn't like doing it. Yet l would ping a wild one's neck without a thought. Then the penny dropped , the real money was in selling the baby rabbits to our local pet shop! My daughter got hea3 points

My niece came over from New Zealand and bought a Lab from Lochside Kennels in Scotland. I had it in my kennel until she sorted out the paper work to take it home. I had it out one day with a mates 3/8-5/8 bull cross and the bull cross got a bit naughty and the Lab sorted it out ! I was seriously impressed. When I used to hunt with Mally, he had a Lab that came out with us, it could clear deer fences with ease, it’s the only non-running dog that’s got it’s picture on my man cave wall ! LOL ! Cheers.3 points

People were cockling who knew absolutely nothing . They couldn't even read a tide book. Tides nearly always come earlier at night and earlier still with a wind behind them. A big tide can you knock your off your feet if it catches you. It can roll a fully weighted tractor with ease. Same with sand, many didn't know how to recognise quicksand or how to get out of it. They did not even take the precaution of parking vehicles on heavy boards to spread the weight. There were many, many close shaves. Some of the experienced fishermen would flash lights and sound horns to warn others of3 points
