From a ruff old field and cow shed to this, finished today ( well apart from the rubber for the arena but my mate will go back and put that on when it arrives) I think between the 3 of us we’ve done a cracking job and hopefully when the owner is back at the weekend they are pleased with how it looks my work here is done ??

Sad news today of the passing of Gordon McQueen, now I’m not into football but came to meet him when me and the two lads I do most of my work with built their house, ( first place I did a resin driveway) a lovely man who liked nothing more then letting you buy him a pint in the pub down the road, my thoughts are with his wife Yvonne and the rest of the family

  10. Not happening any time soon but its amazing they have even mentioned it. "Vindictive" plans to ban salmon fishing slammed by River Wye conservationists WWW.WALESFARMER.CO.UK Plans to ban salmon fishing in Wales has been described as “futile and vindictive” by conservationist on the Wye. How on earth can they think angling with a rod and line has any affect on the fish numbers. I have never fished for salmon or sewin in my life other than as a kid and not with a rod. We had great runs of fish in the local rivers in the 80's and 90's. After r

  12. Bypassing an old collapsed culvert today for the house across the lane from the horse arena job, 130 metres of 9” twin wall, you’d never know we’d been put in for 2 days, did it in a day, which I’m glad about because the flies were mental, bloke got a few quid off so he’s happy and I got somewhere else to shoot rabbits, oh yeah, and his house is stunning, just looks like an old barn from the lane until you go around the back ?

  14. I was recently given the opportunity to visit and look around st Edmunds church in Rochdale. I found it interesting so I'll add some photos in case anyone else does. I'll do it as a few different posts as i go along and get time tonight. St Edmund was Englands first patron Saint and apparently there is a group trying to re-establish him as such. As you enter the church st Edmund is shown on a carving above the door. He was martryd after being killed by arrows by the Vikings. It was commissioned by Albert royd a local industry magnate in 1873. It was built at massive cost of £2

  18. I was going to get to that bit!!! The church abandoned it and was hoping to sell it!!! It was bon the verge of being sold.....to....THE LOCAL MOSQUE!!!! Luckily it was stopped and a group of interested individuals have taken it over and are hoping to protect and renovate it. I guess that's the point of my post! How can we allow stuff like this go to ruin. Even with billions of pounds stuff like this couldn't and wouldn't be achieved or built today. Shows how far we have fallen.

  27. It's fkn unreal mate - I'd like to see these things vandalised out of action around the whole country when they appear. The local council said 'Initially, as a trial, the gate will be in operation for 18 months' - 'Trial' my arse. That's just their wording to soften up the locals and give enough time for most of them to see it as normal. It's another freedom being robbed. if we get one round here that effects me, I'll deal with it in a way akin the old ram raids.

  29. Personal Terry I believe it's the sheer number of Seals now. There are over 30 in Brixham harbour every headland has large groups of them a mate told me there were 18 on the mud flats at Dartmouth. What chance has the Salmon got they hug the coast as they come back to spawn they run the gauntlet at every point on the coast and right up the tidal length of the river. I live about 12 miles up the river for the mouth and as a kid it was rare to see a seal. If one was spotted me and a couple of mates would row down the river as the tide dropped keeping an eye out on the banks. We usually would fi

  37. Hmm…..it’s now breaking that Sir Bernard Jenkins, one of the Boris hating Tory MP’s on the Priveledges Committee that destroyed Boris’s political career for having a glass of wine and a piece of cake during lockdown is now being accused of attending a birthday party for his wife with other politicians and having wine and cake during lockdown…… That good old German saying “ schadenfreude” springs to mind ! Cheers.

  43. Not one single nail in this roof! It's made from cedars of Lebanon. Imported from the holy land. Albert also imported saplings from Lebanon to his estate in Worcestershire to grow and be available for timber should repairs be needed. Unfortunately the trees have a presavation order on them so repairs have been done in other timber. I'm sure the trees could of been used and more saplings planted as Albert wished.
