  1. I know it’s a flippant remark, but ‘they’ are the same people charged with approving all our vaccines, cancer treatment etc. I have no expertise at all, but think we’ve all got to back a horse, so I know where my money’s going. Totally agree that no-one should be forced to take it, but equally, no-one should be forced to put their health or livelihood at risk by accommodating those who don’t want it. I do not want to hear people bleating about the vaccine being used as a ‘passport to liberty’ when they’re refused access to flights, mass public gatherings, etc.
  2. My understanding is that the speed at which these vaccines have been developed is due to an unprecedented effort and the removal of a lot of the ‘red tape’ cat & mouse money stuff between big pharmaceutical companies and governments. It’s maybe not that these have been done ‘quickly’, but what we’re comparing them to has been done slower than it was possible to. It is right to question to pros and cons (risks) of any medicine you put in your body. My 14 yr old tested positive last week and I’m in isolation. No symptoms myself, but may well be an asymptomatic carrier, so the vaccine is
  3. Pfizer vaccine approved for use in the UK, hopefully others follow soon. I’ll put my trust in all the medical experts who have evaluated the risk and get it, even if it’s only to protect others. And if I owned an airline, a hotel, a restaurant, a pub, even a bus or a taxi, I wouldn’t let anyone who could have been immunised, but has refused to, anywhere near my business. Bunch of fcukin flat-earth, tin foil hat wearing bampots.
  4. The debate about the GOAT will never be settled, or ever end. And it’s impossible to compare eras. No doubt that Maradona was a great player, but tragic to me that he never fulfilled his potential. His generation weren’t looked after the way players are nowadays, as the maybe weren’t seen as the financial assets they are now. Never mind the sports science, nutrition etc., imagine if he’d even been managed and looked after the way Messi will have. Or the likes of George Best given the same hospitality and mentoring as the likes of CR7 would have arriving in Manchester. The game was very differe
  5. Nowt tonight, head still bangin’ from last night’s red wine. Daughter’s tested positive for the ‘Corvid’, so I’m isolating for 14 days. Bonus is no going into work, so I’ll have a few cans of Guinness tomorrow night.
  6. Good documentary film on Channel 4 tonight about Maradona’s time at Napoli.
  7. I’ve bet DD stoppage 1-6 at 2/1. It’ll be interesting to see, if it goes beyond 7 or 8 rounds, what sort of engine DD has, he’s a big old lump. Looking at Boxrec he’s only boxed 43 rounds in 15 fights, and done 10 rounds only once, so might find the water’s a bit deeper up against JJ?
  8. No longer have BT and although it’s a decent match up, I won’t bother shelling out for it. Heard BT and Warren making out they’re doing the world a favour not making this PPV. Shows where we’ve got to with ripping off punters.
  9. Thought you were dying there and trying to book the reaper, and then there’d be an end to these nonsensical threads. Guess not..., but God speed ?? Atb. Pesky
  10. But by most as a genius, and one of the most gifted players to play the game. RIP Diego ??

    Boots

Have had a pair of Brasher (think Berghaus bought them over) Hillmaster boots for years. Robust enough for hill walking and very lightweight. I prefer a leather upper to gore-tex etc. When I replace then I’ll look for another well made, lightweight boot with a decent sole (Vibram usually a safe bet). Try a few pairs on before you buy, and wear the socks you’ll be walking in to make sure they fit right. Should be plenty deals about once the shops are allowed to open up again.
  12. No need for talk of Christmas now, it’s still five weeks away ffs. This thread should be locked until December?

    Apple.

Don’t think ‘cheap’ and ‘Apple’ belong in the same sentence.
  14. Nearly choked on my tea ???
  15. Quite enjoyed a docufilm thingy I watched on Sky documentaries called ‘The Biggest Little Farm’. About a couple in California trying to set up an eco-farm, and their battle with the various pests and predators. Not exactly selling it I know, but it’s well shot, and I liked it ?
  16. Mainstay in a world beating Liverpool team, and a top, top goalie..., although his greatest achievement for me was letting King Kenny’s shot through his legs at Wembley. RIP Ray.
  17. Clinical finish by Crawford.
  18. Feeding on fruit or nuts blown off a tree?
  19. The slomo of him going, going, gone is quality. Speccy lad was right though, these Go-pro things in the hands of the wrong people turn them into even more annoying sanctimonious w4nkers than they were before.
  20. The guy’s a fruit and nut case. Can’t stand him or that crowd he married into. He should stick to what he’s good at, although the way politics is going, I wouldn’t rule out him getting elected.

    Boxing.

Danny Williams stopping his opponent whilst fighting with only his left hand. Remember watching this and getting off my seat when the guy went down. Brave display. Can’t believe it was 20 years ago ?
  22. “Nonsense”? We’re probably a fortnight away from 1000+ deaths a day. You can argue all day about how this crisis has been/should be handled, but I’d hardly call it nonsense.
  23. Watched a ‘trailer’ for tonight’s programme on Breakfast this morning, that was enough for me. A few sportsmen up here have succumbed to it, or will soon. Big Doddie Weir (ex-Scotland Rugby Union international) can’t have long left, but has met it head on with the same tenacity as Burrow has. Fcuking horrible and often lingering way to die, and especially cruel that such a strong and proud man has to be reduced to that in front of their wife and kids. As been said, wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
