Not forgetting the metal heads with their filthy biker jackets.., or by the mid-80’s the football casual scene. Like you say there are little pockets of these things left but they’re usually people reliving their youth. Seen a few videos recently of some bloke singing some of the old ska/two-tone classics with guys and girls in their 60’s skanking away, good for them but it did look a bit ridiculous. Fella I work with is 63 and goes all over the country watching punk bands from back in the day.., or what’s left of them. I think the dance/indie/rave scene of the late 80’s early 90’s was the l

Is this still for sale?

Imagine people in 1926 trying to predict our world. Where moving pictures were a novelty, medicine was still fairly primitive by today’s standards and just prior to the great depression, where even in the developed world men and their families would starve. Try telling them that in a few generations their descendants would almost all be morbidly obese and many would die of eating too much food whilst their eyes are glued to a screen stuck in the palm of their hand which could show them any one of trillions of moving images. Where the ‘war to end wars’ had recently ended, but where we’d

Maybe not in a century but certainly some sort of cataclysmic population crash caused by famine, disease, and conflict to some extent.., which will potentially contribute to the first two. It’ll likely result in major restructuring of the existing social and economic models, but the fittest will continue to survive and thrive, and the weak will suffer.., as is nature’s way. With that in mind, and the fact I’m powerless to stop any of it, and probably wouldn’t even if I could, I’ll just crack on worrying about today and leave tomorrow where it is.

Another memory from being a young teenager in the 80’s, checking footy scores on the viddy printer or Ceefax in electrical shop windows. Sad one the day of the Bradford fire.., remember just standing there in stunned silence surrounded by all these blokes the same.

I don’t think I’m naive.., but then that’s what someone who’s naive would say I don’t believe all cheats get caught, but nor do I believe that means every fighter is cheating. Usyk fought Bellew at cruiser, and made weight at around 198lb. Fight day he’d likely been 210lb at least. When he fought Fury (by now well into his thirties) he was 226lb.., where obviously no cutting for weight was needed, so guessing he’d have fought around that. I don’t think that’s even suspect. The weight gain and obvious physical change in guys like Haye, Holyfield etc. was obvious, but weight and mus

Not sure they’ll need it, England haven’t turned up.

Maybe they were, but how many of those you named failed a test? Oh, and you forgot to put Tyson Fury’s name in there.., his cheating and three years out the ring has been forgotten about by many. I haven’t, which is why I wouldn’t have him near the conversation for best in his era, never mind best ever.

I wouldn’t be surprised, if this really is the beginning of criminal proceedings for AMW, that he does himself in. You heard it here first.

I’m ever the sceptic with these cunning fcukers, did the king and his heir know there was worse to come out, and an arrest to come? And was the stripping of titles and privilege and very public dressing down genuine, or part of an orchestrated plan to limit reputational damage but all the while plotting a strategy out for the paedophile formerly known as prince? Maybe he is in real soapy bubble, or maybe this arrest will come to nothing, but try to placate all those that are demanding he face the authorities and answer for his association with Epstein. Whatever he’s done wrong I hope he has to

Probably the best strike duo I’ve seen in Scotland was Sutton and Henrik Larsson. A lot of front men look for space but Sutton would go looking for the centre halfs because he always fancied himself to win the ball in the air. The amount of goals he made for Larsson with knock downs and headed flick ons was incredible. Won Larsson the golden boot.

In terms of partnerships, where both players really complement each other, Quinn & Phillips were something else. Mo Johnstone lives in the US and has done for over 25 years…, still not far enough away for some. Celtic fans won’t utter his name and refer to him only as Judas. I also believe that a good few Rangers fans never set foot back in Ibrox after they started signing catholics.

I think for some fight fans now all the pantomime and performance is the entertainment, the bout is almost secondary. All the nonsense, and the fact that fight coverage is split over so many platforms now, means I watch much less boxing and have fallen out of love with it a bit. Shame, but as long as someone is happy

Think Ratcliffe apologised for his choice of words, but maintained the sentiment. Not lost on me that Ratcliffe is at odds with this ‘labour’ government as their policies are systematically destroying the UK’s petrochemical industry, the mainstay of his business.., and that is no exaggeration. The levies imposed and licence restrictions which have all but stopped the investment which is required to sustain the industry.., i.e. today’s production is the result of exploration and investment done in some cases many years ago. The scale of this damage will unfold fully in the next decade, but is

Selfish lazy people who shove the dog out in the garden for a piss and shit at 6.30 in the morning, then presumably go back to bed, only for the bored dog to start barking and wake up the street.

Thanks for that, I thought Merlin only listed birds identified by call. You can actually log sightings on your ‘life list’ if you create an account.., which I did. I’m up to ten just on todays, including a tawny owl and buzzard this morning. I made a list a while ago of species I’ve had in the garden, it stands at 31.
-
Does anyone know of a birders app where you can record species seen? Occasionally watch some guy on youtoob who targets around 275 species a year, but a lot of them are obscure American ducks and Asian sub-species etc. etc., and he puts in some mileage to get to that. Wondered how many I’d see just going about my business. Think if I got 75 I’d be chuffed at that, would be good to have an app to tick them off.
-
Of the raptors I’ve had kestrel and buzzards, but been wondering how many more I could get. I tried the app on some noisy sparrowhawks at a nest sight last year but it didn’t recognise them. I reckon peregrine would be straightforward enough, and ospreys. Often see red kites, hen harriers and the odd merlin, but don’t recall hearing them call. Merlin is a good catch though.

I took to watching the curling a few olympics ago. Good blend of skill and strategy, I think it’s actually a good watch.
