  1. Has Smith got a chance? Bookies have Canelo a huge favourite, which is hard to argue. But (according to Boxrec) Smith has a 7” height advantage, and 8” in reach. These are tools which he can use to dictate the type of fight he’s in? Both fighters same age (30) but Canelo has fought more than twice as many times as Smith, and has dispatched a lot of world level fighters. I really hope Smith can pull it off, but my prediction is a Canelo stoppage around 7 rounds.
  2. I don’t profess to know much about boxing, but I do know that the old adage that ‘styles make fights’ is true.., and only a total buffoon would try and predict the outcome of AJ v Fury based on their bouts with Klitschko. Even if you weigh up both boxer’s records, and which AJ’s clearly shows he’s consistently fought higher calibre opponents, I don’t think you can predict a winner. We’ll only know when they get in a ring together, which will be 2021..., unless Fury tests positive again, or opts for the easier option and less money like he did when he ducked Joshua last year.
  3. You’re convinced Joshua is afraid to fight Fury, we get it. I think you’re making a fool of yourself by saying it. Just my opinion.
  4. Probably because he’s trying to convince the WBO to sanction another voluntary fight, over Usyk being his mandatory.., the only way they were ever going to wear that is if it was for an undisputed fight. Seems now they won’t sanction it anyway. Some people are reading way too much into this imo. Joshua wants all the belts, that should be the aim of any fighter in any weight class. The Fury fight is the only fight for both boxers now. AJ just trying to ensure all the straps are on the line. Fury and his fans should appreciate that, but seems they haven’t the brains to, and are looking at t
  5. Joshua looked like he had gears to spare. Ruiz fight has clearly taught him to be more patient. Had a wee bet on rounds 7-9 too ?? Hopefully another step closer to AJ v Fury.
  6. Said it a few times now, I wouldn’t encourage them by paying the 25 bar. Be interested to see how many they sell. With the boozers being shut, and people not mixing indoors, I bet they could have made a killing at a tenner a pop. Greed of both the broadcasters, and a lot of the boxers, in danger of bursting the boxing bubble.
  7. Probably been up before, but worth watching again ?
  8. I don’t care if a person born a man wants to dress as a woman, cut off their genitalia and pump themselves full of hormones.., and if Paul wants me to start calling him Pauline, I can live with that. But the notion that your gender can be changed by any of the above, is as ridiculous as if I got a perm and a penis extension and then demanded to be recognised as a black man. We’re born how we’re born. If you can’t live with it, then why the fcuk should you expect anyone else to?
  9. See, I don’t see how anyone can afford to keep 19 kids properly fed and in clobber, without winning the lottery. And if they’re out working 24/7 to pay for them, then how can they also be there as parents? I’m a believer in the welfare state, but there’s a lot take the piss. People paying fcuk all in ever, and only taking out. A lifestyle choice rather than it being an emergency fund for those down on their luck. Needs an overhaul imho.
  10. Another point about debt, and the attitude (aka conditioning) younger folks have to it. Something that typified it for me..., two young lads I was working with maybe 15 years ago..., typical lads, into motors, showing off to birds etc. reading the papers and one sees an ad for a garage selling performance cars - “with finance available”. Says “there’s a Lamborghini here, and I can afford the payments (most of his wages for the next 5+ years).., I’m going to ring them and go round for a look”. Me: you’re not serious? Him: I am Me: but you still live with your mum ffs!!! Him
  11. Been interesting reading this, some very good observations. Agree with the point Wilf makes on ‘debt slaves’, that’s a big change over the last couple of generations. Average UK household debt of around £60k? I’d guess the oldies don’t owe much, and it’s likely that the average couple starting a family is servicing debt of maybe £200-400k. That’s a lot of interest kicking back..., and a big chunk of household income, something that simply didn’t exist 40 or 50 years ago, when a lot of us were growing up. We’ve been sold a dream that ‘living’ is getting on the property ladder (fcuking despise t
  12. Taken to listening to this almost daily at the moment, through Any Colour, Brain Damage and Eclipse.
  13. Elf on the shelf. Not a joke, but I laughed ???????? https://m.(!64.56:886/scottishbanter1/videos/379322933320839/?refsrc=https%3A%2F%2Fm.(!64.56:886%2F249156381872324%2Fposts%2F3577697415684854%2F&_rdr
  14. Mongrels selling for fifteen hundred notes a pop. ‘Dug’ dealing is getting more lucrative than drug dealing. You can knock puppy peddling all you like, but when you can make £10k off an average litter, then who’s going to take any notice. World’s gone mad.

    RIP

Reckon the closest to golf most on here get is mooching round a course looking for a few rabbits, but regardless of your views on golf, we should probably all lament at least a wee bit, the passing of Peter Alliss. He wasn’t afraid to speak his mind, and had it not been for his age, he’d probably have been side-lined by now by the big broadcasters in favour of some black lesbian who knew 1/1000th of what he knew about golf and golfers, and had even less than that of his charisma and integrity. RIP Peter, a great golfer and commentator, and one of the last of a dying breed.
  16. A lot of threads seem to go the same way with the trolling and bickering between just a few folk. Some definitely worse than others though. I’m just glad I’ve got a life away from THL, and better things to do with my time. Sad existence regularly spending hours a day on here just spatting with strangers.
  17. Thanks for taking the time to do that. It doesn’t have a real quality feel to it, but who knows. Watched a guy tidying one up on youtube earlier, so will maybe have a go at it over the holidays.
  18. The BLM thing has created division. The whole ethos is that if you don’t speak out and show your condemnation of racism for the world to see then you are, by default, ‘part of the problem’. Same as all this rainbow sh!te I’m watching on Sky now watching WH v MU. Players brow beaten into showing support for a ‘cause’, I’ll bet most of them either don’t agree with, or give two fxxxs about, but go along with it cos they don’t want the grief. I don’t believe you can change another man’s opinion by forcing your will upon him, and will only cause resentment and greater divide in the long
  19. Thanks for replies. I think it’s all there, so I’ve ordered a set of mandolin strings, I’ll see if I can string it and get a sound out of it. That might tell me tell me what, if anything, is wrong with it.
  20. Found this when clearing out my old fella’s house after he died a few years back. Don’t remember him playing it, so don’t know if it’s knackered or not. Always wondered if I could string it and knock any sort of a tune out of it. First step is to find out what it is. Is it a mandolin, a mandolin-banjo, banjo-mandolin, a banjolin?
  21. I remember watching that when it first aired. Find it difficult to watch these things now, when so much has changed.
  22. Might be wrong, but wasn’t that the Adam Johnson thread? If I remember right there might have been a few more on here tried to defend that fcukin wrong’un. Also, if that’s what this thread was started for, then it’s hardly a ‘noncey joke’. No attempt at humour as far as I can see.
  23. To be fair, my comments are about OP which is a generalisation rather than something specific. Haven’t seen what you’re talking about (not sure I want to) so can’t comment.
  24. Don’t think you can simply say ‘noncey jokes’.., are they wrong? Think you have to take every joke on its own merit and decide how funny/sick/inappropriate it is.., and each man will have a different take on it. As for these jokes being in danger of ‘normalising’ child abuse, I’d say if anything it does the opposite. As been said, humour lets us speak about the unspeakable. Noncing kids has never in history been less acceptable. Think back less than 30 years, a 40odd year old Bill Wyman was knocking about with a 14 year old.., barely a word said. Can you imagine maybe Liam Gallagher getti
