  1. Hi mate, I would never go back to springers unless i had to.I have shot, .22 only , spring powered rifles since being 11 yrs old, so i have 40 + yrs experience of springers . I changed my prefered calibre to .177 and guns to pcp`s multi shot and my style of shooting to full camo` and sit and wait. (hide shooting) . The results have seen a marked improvement in game bags. It actually makes me disapointed in myself if i miss when using the pcp rifles. Just my humble opinion. atb.
  2. I had one for one day - i found that as it is not reg`d a full charge of air gave poor accuracy until a pressure of 180 bar then it started to settle very well for approx` 23 "sweet spot" shots all consistantly accurate. I also found at 200 bar the ft/lbs energy was 10.4 ft/lbs when this bar fill was on 180 bar or a "touch less" we got 23 shots all very accurate and on 11.2 ft/lbs consistant. I did not like having to keep a mental note of how many shots i had taken as there is no pressure guage either. So - I bought myself the HW 100 KS .22 to go with my HW
  3. Your aim didn`t get ill. Shooting mate
  4. Shooting mate I totally detest magpies and their cruelty to young game and song birds.Had one trying to kill a couple of blue tits nesting in a box in my garden this week. . It has ceased it`s activities now atb

  10. Any of the calibres - shot in the head means DEAD. atb
  11. Nice one Matt, One of my mates had a shoot where the rabbits were bad with fleas and told me he would hang them up where they were shot because the fleas tended to leave a cold corpse. If he didn`t do this and game bagged them he always got a bite or three and scratched until his clothes and himself were washed and showered (scratch - scratch) atb
  12. Hi mate, The hw 100 range is outstanding (and the best by far imho) but if you are sticking with BSA then in my humble opinion - the BSA Ultra in .177 . atb
  13. I once owned a Jack Russell x Whippet brindle lurcher (Brett) - he was such a good dog for scent, catch and retrieve, retrieving shot game over land or water any time of year, the lamp and rabbits, superb intelligence and then the travellers started offering serious money for him, thats how good he was I first showed him a shotgun at about 9 months after a lot of dummy retrieval to a starter pistol, by the time he was three years old he could find a rabbit/ partridge/ pheasant at 500 yds with the bloody wind behind him!. We worked together until old age caught up with hi
  14. Harris all the way, rock solid accuracy. atb
  15. Shooting Mawders and "hello mate" atb
  16. Hi Matt, Yes mate we hate them, they constantly take young birds and peck them to death. The Magpie in the picture - check out the size of it in comparison to the rifle, fairly large isn`t it ? I`ve stopped magpie attacks by running up to them when they have started to attack the young game birds, etc they fly off and as soon as your any distance away they return and continue. I hate Magpies. atb.
  17. Hi mate, Are you sticking with the Ultra .177 for this job ? It is certainly bowling them over. Again, nice shooting. atb.
  18. Went to a small new shoot this afternoon for a quick hour or so, the magpie shot i really enjoyed - it was about to kill a very young black bird while its mother had to stand and watch. I drilled it at smack on 46 yds on the bi pod. The others at differing ranges between 28yds to 35/ 40 yds. atb
  19. Shooting Matty , which brand of pellet did you use mate ? There was a lad with a new Scorpion rifle (.177) earlier asking which pellet to use with it and i suggested AA Fields as a mate of mine uses an ultra that loves them and i thougfht maybe the barrels are the same ? atb
  20. Air Arms Field are a very popular hunting pellet. 8.4 grain in .177 calibre and superbly accurate. At the range i use its the best selling pellet brand by far, try them out, the BSA ultra loves them, my mate has the ultra, at a guess would the Scorpion barrel be the same barrel as the ultra ? atb
  21. I agree with the statements of being able to leave a spring rifle cocked for long periods, though on a personal note, if i`m concealed in a hide or stalking, i much, much prefer a multishot pcp. I shoot for the head as much as possible and will be the first to say that a miss can result in the quarry still staying put but is now on "Full Alert" !!! - try re- cocking a springer, reloading a pellet, closing the gun up and now readjust yourself to shoot again - ITS GONE. I shoot for the head with my HW100 KT and if a miss happens and the quarry stays put, i`m reload
  22. I`m with Ponte on the Hawke 400, i always take mine with me and never lets me down. £ `ISH should get you a good second hand unit. atb
  23. Shooting J Darcy, i see that flat trajectory is working well. atb
  24. You wont be disappointed Tom . Great choice. atb.
