  1. PCP all the way for me, I have shot springers for 40 odd years and after getting the HW `s in both calibres I don't think I would want a springer again. I remember last summer , sat in a hide bored with the slow morning. I ranged a large cow pat at 36 yds, raised my HW 100 KT .177, and soon got bored swatting biters shot on shot. It`s each to their own I suppose, my local gunsmith says over 85% of his gun sales are pcp`s. At my range at least 85% of guns used are pcp`s. Out in the wilds I have improved my game bags by using pcp`s.
  2. Yes totally agree. I reach for .177 far more than the .22 . in fact look up The accuracy of a HW 100 KT .177 in a photo. I posted this photo recently and shows how devastating the 177 cal is. atb
  3. Shooting Darcy. Looks exactly like the trees I have to contend with on my permissions . I always reach for my HW 100 KT .177 for this type of shooting trying to weave through the branches with the flat trajectory of .177. When I`m shooting in open areas I reach for my .22. Out of interest which calibre are you using ? atb.
  4. HW 100 all the way mate, The range I shoot at is full of HW 100 owners and I can count on one hand the number of R 10 owners. Just how it is at our range Andy. atb.
  5. Proper shooting Bunny , well done ! atb
  6. Go and try this range people - great place to shoot with people that know the sport inside out. atb
  7. Hi VM, You will absolutely LOVE the HW 100 KT .177 cal , - outstanding rifle. The performance this rifle gives off a bipod in the field just takes my breath away.I took the HW KS .22 out today on crows at 45 yds - 3 shots - 3 crows all head shot. Took the HW 100 KT .177 to the same permission, last weekend 3 crows, 1 Magpie,- 4 shots all "eye shot" at 45 yds atb
  8. Hi again, My HW 100 KS .22 cal is in my gun cabinet a hell of a lot more than my HW 100 KT .177 at the moment. Good luck with your decision.
  9. Hi Forbes, I shoot the HW 100 KT (.177) and the HW 100 KS (.22). For dense woodland my HW 100 KT because your trajectory is very flat and forgiving allowing you to shoot through trees and branches with absolute accuracy .I zero my scope to 35 yds and get 5p piece accuracy from 30 yds to 40 yds then 1/2 milldot holdover for 45 yds to 1 milldot holdover gives 50 yds pinpoint accuracy. I cannot shoot in dense woodland through trees and branches with the HW KS .22 because of the trajectory curve.I use the HW KS zeroed to 28 yds and sit under open sitty trees and I`
  10. Did some hide shooting today for four hours and took 4 wood pigeon and 1 crow with the HW 100 KS .22. What did please me more than anything was the amount of young song birds about . I have sniped the local Magpie population ( 18 taken ) through December - Feb` and what a difference to the young to be seen and heard . atb
  11. Hi, HW 100 KT is a carbine rifle with a thumbhole stock, HW 100 KTS again a carbine rifle with sport stock. I like to do a lot of hide shooting and find the shorter carbine rifles much easier to handle in the combines of a hide. atb
  12. Hi Roosika, a lot of the people shooting at my range shoot with the HW 100, far more than anyone shooting R10`s. That is no disrespect intended to the R10`s its just how it is.I shoot with both calibres 177 and 22 HW 100 KT and KTS, I`ve never owned a better rifle ! Hope you make the right choice, atb.
  13. Hi Chris, I used the Feinwerkbau Sport 127 for years and years , 33 to be exact, for hunting . A lot of people think they were one of the best springers ever made. Sadly I part exchanged mine for a HW 100 KTS .22. Sentimentality to one side the Feinwerkbau Sport is a wonderful gun but simply doesn`t live with the HW 100 series and their capabilities in the hunting field . If your gun is just fair condition I would suggest £150 "ish", good condition £200 "ish", fine condition £250 - £300 from a collector. atb
  14. Hi Matt, welcome to the forum. You can obviously shoot as the army crossed rifle tells us so but you are concerned over shooting at live quarry just yet ? Purely a humble suggestion but a local outdoor field target club, hft (hunter field target) club would be ideal for you. The lads/ladies that use these clubs know their rifles. trajectory, scopes you name it and a hft club simulates hunting There are lots of very good people on this forum Matt who know air rifles/ hunting inside out , I`m sure you`ll get all the answers you need.
  15. Either calibre mate, shot in the head means dead. The 177 cal is by far the easiest to master because of the much flatter trajectory, the .22 is just as accurate once mastered and hits like a hammer. I use both calibres the only difference being milldot knowledge and the whack. So my humble verdict is .22 in open areas, 177 in woodland areas to thread the pellet through spindle like branches , and night time shooting . The 177 is a lot easier to use at night when you are trying to judge distance. atb
  16. Hi mate, A little trick I have used for donkeys years is that pigeons like to flight into a sitty tree or decoys by flying into the wind to do it. So whenever possible sit in cover with the breeze in your face, facing the sitty tree and the pigeons come in from behind you. If you have ever noticed pigeons rarely "check out" where they came from first and by the time you have read to "here" my HW 100 and Mamba Lite are glued between the birds shoulder blades. Atb,
  17. Nice shooting, nice looking rifle too, cant shoot enough of these horrible pests. A lot more song birds and game birds will survive in the area these vermin were shot. Well done mate .
  18. Oops ! your right Mick, Scot, with the calibrations any way I had the dentist today so that`s my excuse . Superb rifle the HW 100`s , I have two in both .177 and .22 flavour but cant shoot for a week because of the dentistry work . atb.
  19. Hi Mick, take a peek in airgun hunting at best zero for 177 and 22.All the milldot ranges are there for you as I used the HW 100 KT s .22 with the same scope as you. The pellets used were Air Arms Fields 16 Grains. I checked all my findings with Chairgun Pro and all were perfect,- enjoy . atb
  20. Hi Mick, I`m an air rifle shooter of 44 yrs + and never have I shot an air rifle as good as the HW kt 100 they are superb. You made the right choice. atb
  21. Hi Skot - general feel of the 177 HW KT with the Mamba Lite scope- I found this scope to say WHOE hold on - take your time and set me up well.So after fidgeting and setting eye alignments ,(very sensitive scope), she was set. Mate take your time with her because she is one lethally accurate scope. Was at my local range last week and was challenged to hit the letters on a cigarette box/packet called "amber leaf" at 40 yards,- she hit home with" precision".I felt like Clint Eastwood :boogy:when he said "you`ve upset my donkey". Take your time with a Mamba Lite and boy wil
  22. You are teaching him well mate - great shooting atb
