  1. Just started 2 x 5 gallon brews of elderberry/ blackberry/ sloe/ orange wine - costs next to nowt and the port wine is wonderful and has the "kick of a mule" - take your dog and forage for free. atb
  2. Use apple with the slightest brush of honey on one side only. The one side with the honey furthest away from the trap entrance. atb
  3. Hi Mate, I agree with Rez, back to the shop . atb
  4. Thank you for any advice guys, Yes a typical walk on the long line (20 - 25 feet long line) will see him hunt eagerly. He scents many different ground birds , Snipe, small birds amongst the grass, Partridges, Hares etc and he is pointing. I might be wrong but i feel he knows his job is done (at present) because the long line stops any further involvement. No "crack" ! from a gun,or starter pistol just lots of praise for finding the game - he "adores" these walks. My plan at the moment (please tell us pup owners if this is wrong) is to wa
  5. Shooting mate not a bad calibre .177 eh atb
  6. Noddy your boys face is what "we are all about" good on you lad. atb oh and great shooting you two !
  7. To keep my 5 month old gsp from wanting to hunt - impossible ! he "wants to hunt". So i keep his training to the garden, and street walking. If i walk him in the fields on a lead he " so, so wants to hunt" and i have to hold him back, simple as ! He is so keen to hunt that if i`m in my town centre he would take a feral pigeon instantly, given half a chance. As said previously getting a GSP to hunt is not the problem, the problem is holding them back. I am presently teaching him the stop whistle and re- call, of which he is progressing well (in the
  8. Stop being a defeatist guys ! Pick the churches surrounded with a graveyard and factories with car parks/ surrounding land etc, etc Any property owner/ manager effected with ferrel pigeons or any other vermin (rats etc ) is extremely approachable. atb
  9. Ditto, hear, hear Simon. Daystate are badly frowned upon by all my range shooting / hunting mates Stay away from them ! They take your money and run ! except for my money !!! atb.
  10. Hi 78, all, I live nr Manchester and the amount of shooting i got from "here it comes" - local churches !!!!! The pigeons cause awful damage to them with their droppings that they pay a lot of money out for repairs. I became very much wanted by my local churches. - So there`s a good start for you mate and also factory buildings, mills etc.(and one factory boss rings another) You will find vicars/ priests/ factory bosses very, very approachable on pigeon damage. Start with what is very much on offer 78 (city centre shooting) and surrounding areas - all the rest wil
  11. There are only two rifles out there for me - HW 100`s and the BSA Ulra`s (regged and tuned) I find the HW 100 kt (.177 cal.) untouchable (just my humble opinion) atb
  12. Shooting Toby have you eaten squirrel yet ? atb
  13. The range i go to actually have their own workshop (gunsmith) and are "forever" fixing Daystate problems because Daystate dont want to know you once they have your money, According to Daystate owners - of which i am not, atb
  14. Hi 78, The HW100 range is the dogs "B" and 177 cal (in my humble opinion by far the best). In 2nd place (and a close 2nd is the BSA Ultra) at half the price !! if you can go for the HW 100 though you must go for it, - outstanding pcp. in any model. atb
  15. Hi guys, I`ve been very slowly introducing the stop whistle to my 5 month old GSP using hand signal also. If we are anywhere where there are no distractions i get results but out in the fields and he sees any birds or picks up a scent it`s cloth ear time and ignores any calls. Any advice please.
  16. yep done that too Steve the Jay would have been shot though. atb
  17. I do a lot of natural hide shooting and have decided to leave both of my HW 1OO rifles as heavy as bought. Both rifles when shot from shooting sticks or bipod are incredibly accurate and with this type of shooting the weight helps me keep my steadiness and accuracy. atb
  18. Mate - Wirrall Countryman and VM are spot on with their advice but to add a little i find the weight of my HW 100 KT .177 with a set of shooting sticks absolutely lethal for accuracy, and accuracy is everything in air rifles. The trajectory of .177 when hide shooting gives you accuracy 2nd to none. I also shoot both .177 cal and .22 cal with the 100`s - through branches and alike - .177 every time and also night shooting. Typical open ground like this last weekend i used my HW 100 KS .22 with a man made hide in the hedges over ploughing for decoyed crows (flocked) and
  19. Hi Dave, You may well have bought the only rifle you will use for quite some time mate, - my HW 100 KT (.177 cal) has made my other rifles redundant, - simply untouchable. atb.
  20. Feinwerkbau sport 127 (.22) springer from the early `s until a year or so ago when i traded it in for a HW 100 KT .177 absolutely no regrets as the 100`s are simply untouchable ! in my humble opinion. atb
  21. Charge the Brocock to 180 bar only and you will get 28 very consistant accurate shots in ,22 - before 180 bar - like 200 bar = inconsistant. After the 28 shots from 180 bar = inconsistant. Save up mate and buy HW 100 - absolutely outstanding rifles.(in my humble opinion) atb.
