  1. A arms s5 10 and as you say A arms s4 10 k both in same thoughts .Took a look at the handsome regal too but the lads at my range get problems with Daystates on a regular basis.Brocock looks nice and still need to pick up and hold the Ultra but they are well rated. The range lads highly recommend the A arms. atb
  2. No worries mate this is a good discussion. I was not the worlds best shot with a springer but I certainly could hold my own (after 40 yrs practice ) ,I shot the Feinwerkbau sport 127 until last year.(.22) I bought the HW100 KT (.177) and all my hunting is done with this gun (hide and shooting sticks) .I also own shotguns but find I am always reaching for my 100,- I get far more satisfaction from fieldcraft - (ghillie suit freak you see). When using a springer, the cocking of it was a warning "CLICK" and I would lose my chance to shoot on occasions. T
  3. Does it matter ? Mr blogs shoots 10 bulls with his springer. Mrs Jones shoots 10 bullseyes with her pcp, - and ? If a shooters accuracy is improved with a pcp then great .If accuracy is better for you with a springer then great again. atb
  4. The indoor range I frequent is approx.` 85% pcp, the gunsmith I use is about the same % in sales,- not flying a flag here but this is "the trend" at present. I have shot springers for over 40 years and last year bought the HW 100 KT, changed my cal, to .177 and my results are much better, so much so I am disappointed with myself when I miss. One thing that I have noticed ( imho) is that .177 is the fav cal in pcp if the shooter only has the one rifle, and if he/she has a second rifle - then that is usually .22 but equally it is quite often a springer..
  5. Excellent shooting Moxy, well done. atb.
  6. I took the HW 100 KT to my range today (Atherton indoor range) and checked the zero and the craic with the lads - the guns last zero was in August and I was amazed to see the zero was still absolutely "on the money" - 38 yds (the back wall of the range) and my fav` sitty tree range . I also picked up a HW 100 s with an AM cylinder fitted and I was stunned at how much lighter the rifle is for the change over. Thanks lads and "all the best" ,
  7. The young one will remember days like that for the rest of his life - good on you mate. atb
  8. Excellent shooting mate, weather was awful in North West last night but got out again today shooting from the hide again. atb
  9. Shooting Lewis ,windy in the sunny north west so gave it a miss today. Noticed you say that your lurcher is a rescue dog - "good on you mate" atb.
  10. Well lads/girls I once owned a little jack russell x whippet lurcher dog (Brett) that could sniff all game at 300 yds, pointed, and growled at incoming pigeons. He also growled at me withought looking at me whenever I missed. Travellers wanted him so bad they offered me £300 for him 30 yrs ago. Broke my heart when I lost him but I`m 52 next and had better get another dog soon - I shoot a lot of open fields with ponds, cover, brooks and have never forgotten my mates gundog Yaeger, a GSP also a wonderful gundog. So a GSP for me next as I think they threw away the mould
  11. Hi all, Sneaked away today from the frowning struggle and strife (wife) and built my hide 30 yards away from a large oak tree with a smaller oak either side of it out in the fields of my permission.I placed four decoys for pigeon and one for magpie with two broken eggs to the front of it and waited. At 8-30am through to 2pm a slow visitation of pigeon came to this oak tree,i was using full camo`, a HW 100 kt (.177 cal), Hawke 4-12x50 sport scope and shooting sticks, with zero wind.(AA fields used) , Magpies took a look a few times but from behind me and way out of rang
  12. I don't know the first thing about the Regal other than it is one handsome looking rifle with good reports. On the other hand I have been shooting the HW 100 KT (.177) for around a year now and find it to be absolutely lethal. So for my way of thinking I`ll be staying with the 100. atb
  13. Hi mate, I part ex`d my old fwb sport (.22) towards the HW 100 kt (.177) best deal I ever made.Stick with the pcp route Smudge imho. atb.
  14. Hi Max, The HW 100 kt in my humble opinion when hide shooting.(in built "auto aim" as standard) If your marksmanship and field craft is good, coupled with the (kt) and the standard silencer it comes with - you will not be disappointed atb. p.s 177 imho.
  15. Thank you all for the many avenues of thought. I have listened to you all and fac air is all I`m interested in at this time but I did take on board the limitations of rimfires, ie shooting into trees, ricochet and your experiences etc etc. I think I will lean towards staying as I am (for now) with a sub 12 ft/lb rifle as I love the field craft side of this type of shooting. I have owned and still do- shotguns, but I always seem to reach for the HW 100 kt and Jack pyke hides as the waiting, stalking, practice, practice, practice, of my marksmanship gives me a real sense of satisfaction. For
  16. Hi all, I`ve been toying with the thought of going to fac air for a while now and keep picking up on the remarks of - "not that much difference". About 12 months ago I went from 40 years of sub 12 ft/lbs springers in .22 cal to a HW 100 kt in 177 cal. There was a marked improvement in accuracy and full game bags at air rifle ranges as shot placement and trajectory in 177 proved lethal. I do wonder if an fac rifle in .22 cal and flat trajectory would be that much different to a sub 12 ft/lbs rifle in 177 cal using the "shot placement rule". Thank you for any
  17. I`m a sit and wait guy too. I like to leave my rifle at home (I concentrate much more)then I observe until I`m ready to shoot. I will watch my permissions and learn them and my quarry, then I will camo` up and wait. With good field craft and the HW 100 kt 177, it is deadly to vermin. atb
  18. Hi Dan, There is a thing called "auto` aim" about the HW 100 and basically this means - put the crosshairs on the target and that`s where the pellet will strike (over and over again) this rifles accuracy is unbelievable. I own the HW 100 kt 177 cal and on a still day I can shoot pigeons by headshots "easily" at 35 yds (and more) - my game bags trebled when I bought this rifle. Get the HW100 in my humble opinion Dan. atb By the way mate, I watch the HW 100 "regularly beat" all other rifles at the indoor ranges
  19. To be truthful I`ve never used more than three mag`s in any hunting session, and she`s on 11.5 ft/lbs to 11.6 with AA fields (diablo) with the "Auto Aim" second to none. atb
