  1. Cudworths of Norden do decent moleskins
  2. Just took delivery of "BOWMAN" from Ron. After a quick glance through it, it looks like any other book but the contents tell another story. This is a book packed facts and figures, a miscellany on the life of Joe Bowman and the Ullswater Foxhounds and of life in the lake district during his tenure as huntsman. If you're a supporter of fell hunting and fell hounds, take a copy off Ron's hands, you will not be disappointed. This is very hard to put down. Thanks Ron
  3. No real outcome, just showing how futile the ban has become with lamping and snares used more often, thus more foxes killed or left maimed. That seemed to satisfy the Tory who was against repealing the hunting ban!
  4. Can't believe her husband sacked her! And Ed? Tosser.
  5. No fella, didn't sing, well only the chorus's. I was moving around talking to folk. Seem to remember you singing, though not sure I'd know you now. It all got a bit noisy with order being called for to often. We ended up sitting outside for some peace and quiet
  6. Yes, good do. Got a lift back off the landlord later. Just got back home after another good day on the fell.
  7. I've been there today, good day and into the guinness now. Looking forward to tomorrow
  8. We were out with hounds today but the radios fell silent at 11. Total respect
  9. I can't argue with any of that Dido. Never had a problem with Barry and in fact a couple of years ago he did offer me a lift back to my car which was miles away. As it happened, the day had finished early and after driving miles to get there I decided to have a walk out on my own to make my day last that bit longer. On the way to lousing hounds, the Master jumped in with me and gave me the third degree...He was just checking me out! No need to be rude to folk though, manners cost nowt and if people have made an effort to support the hunt then they should welcomed with open arms, I am, wherever
  10. The way to go is to get someone to vouch for you, otherwise sadly, you'll struggle. And hunts do check up on that. The Blencathra have had lots of shit over the years and are very careful with new faces, so you can't blame them.
  11. Not really, shock will have killed quite a few. I've seen it where I work, and the owners stood there laughing! They soon stop when the farmer turns up with his rifle
  12. You're all a load of whingers with selective memories. Didn't any of you have a shoe box full of bangers and rip raps when you were young? Feck me, what's happened to enjoying the occasion once a year. It's not the fireworks it's the cnuts using them that need banning. Cob coaling a week before to earn some dosh to buy them then all the family would enjoy bonfire together. Those were the days and some things change for the worse if you ask me.
  13. Seen one done by the late Roger Fisher. He'd mounted it on a couple of bricks and added a painted background, making it look like a sewer. Very atmospheric with the right lighting. I think Roger had a light out at home at the time
  14. Road kills are ok to pick up but you might want to inform the local police as to where you found it and what you intend doing with it. Some taxidermists won't touch them for fear of getting into bother. Log it that you've told the police, and you're ok I'd say
  15. Good video and shooting, I enjoyed that but please, it's a pigeon breast not chest. it's akin to folk saying dogs when referring to hounds.
  16. There was a report earlier this month of "a pile of dead buzzards" found in a field in Aberdeen. Turns out to be domestic poultry but before checking, some twat reported it to the police. Apparently it was near to land used for sport shooting! Even after being put right, this person was still keen to get the RSPB involved. Damage done on behalf of all shooters. He should be taken to court for wasting police time!
  17. Anyone been to watch this recent film release? I watched it tonight. It's not on general release, just at selected cinemas. Good film that rolled back the years for me. Not a lot to do with Wigan Casino, just one short clip really. It's about a young lad finding the northern soul scene in the mid seventies and what happens to him after. http://louderthanwar.com/watch-the-trailer-for-the-upcoming-brilliant-new-film-on-northern-soul/#sthash.rNWS3CKQ
  18. The boys from the Emptyhad must have still been defrosting from their trip abroad. Hammers are going well at the moment
  19. I'm having a walk out with them tomorrow....
  20. Bought that record for my girlfriend at the time, who's now my wife. Still got it in the loft I think. He married that Lisa Goddard lass
  21. According to the Shooting Times tweets I'm getting, police are to start doing unannounced visits to the homes of legal gun owners from today! As well as checking up to make sure your security is ok, this is all to do with terrorist threats and the shooting community being vulnerable to such things.
  22. I hear the old guys and car followers saying as we come off the fell after 6-7 hours following hounds, "I wish I could still get up them hills". I dread the day when I'm in the same position. They'll have to carry me off.

    Kes

Watched that at the cinema. Good film with a dramatic ending.
  24. Once again it's the UK to the rescue and we're skint as it is!

Kes and Whistle Down The Wind are my favourite childhood films. Plenty of signed photos on flea bay of the cast in Kes
