  1. Great news that FP. Looks like she has got herself a new best buddy ?
  2. Maybe the deerhound in her to do with the strides? Like the look of the whole litter. Keep us posted with her progress. ?
  3. Really like the look of this bitch JCM. Doesn’t look too heavy. Is she quick enough?
  4. And the winner is..... https://www.pets4homes.co.uk/classifieds/2742890-guinness-fully-trained-obedient-lurcher-stone.html fully trained so not so bad I suppose ?
  5. Had the same a few weeks back. Opened up a few times. Had it cut off in the end and it’s healed. Should have just done it in the first place.
  6. Are they both happy to get in the cover longers? Should be great for knocking about. ATB with it.
  7. It’s always great to see. I know people often go on about the youth of today!!! But offer them something interesting to do and 9/10 they will happily put down their phones and computer games for a couple of hours. My lads are now 10 and 14. I find I have to sneak out for a nights lamping. If they see me prepping my kit they will pester me to go. Don’t mind on a weekend but not on a school night! Keep them at it and it’s their choice if they want to keep it up or not. worth keeping hold of that picture Chris
  8. I’ll second that. Cracking looking pups. Surprised there’s 3 spare. Like the look of the broken coated pups. Have you got a picture of the sire?
  9. Good luck with him. Looks a strong type
  10. Cheers. You wouldn’t really think she had any bull in her
  11. These things happen. It’s just a shame when you have your heart set on the dog you want to use
  12. In cases like that then he would be the type that people should want to use as a stud dog. There is an element of kennel blindness with all breeds. Some people are happy getting out once or twice a week and most dogs would suit them. Just be easier if people where honest when breeding.
  13. Got a young bitch here. Coming on quite well and looking forward to September. Collie bull grey on both sides. Touch of saluki a bit back. She’s only 24TTS and a fairly light build.
  14. Good luck with the search. Don’t know of anyone in the southwest that’s breeding at the moment. Sure something will pop up somewhere in the next couple of months. ?
  15. Best of luck. Keep the updates coming. Like the look of them dogs and the ground you hunt ?
  16. You are the only one I have seen or heard about with this type mate. Few on here with Wheaton x grey or Wheaton bull grey but haven’t seen any with deerhound in. How are them other ones you bred coming on?
  17. I’ve noticed that too. If I don’t mix it up with some veg every now and then they will pick at the grass. Think it’s about balancing it out.
  18. like the whippet. Got the old trusty 6 year old saluki collie grey x grew who still has plenty of life in him yet and bringing on my young bitch who is 14 months. Collie, saluki, bull, grey. No exact percentages. Both dogs are 24TTS.
  19. Thanks Flacko. He’s still keeping the Lurchers busy
  20. The ones I have been out with are great little dogs. I’ve seen them ferret, lamp and work the hills as bushers. They’re not scared of anything. In their heads they are capable of anything but you can only expect so much from dogs that stand between 19-21 TTS. I have lamped with one many times with Newkid off here. We run big fields but she tries her best and puts in a good shift. They weren’t bred for all round Lurcher work so why expect them to be able to do it. There are still good working lines out there. If I wanted one I would go beddy whippet x beddy whippet from working parents not f1 b
  21. There are a lot of dogs fed this way. I do the same if I’m low on raw. I just bulk it up with kibble. Never had any problems
  22. I have always used a paddle. Seen a few guys with peddle kayaks but don’t know much about them. They seem to travel fast in the water and I suppose the plus point is your hands are always free so you can lure fish on the move and keep your rod in hand. General rule is the longer the kayak the more narrower it tends to be and this will be more unstable. It will get you further faster and help going against some tidal flows. Easy to go in a straight line but slower to turn. Shorter kayaks are the exact opposite. Slower in a straight line, a lot more stable and faster to turn. ?
  23. Looks a nice day there Tula. I’ll be heading out in the next week or so. I had a lot of kayaking planned this summer with a bit of fishing thrown in. Supposed to be heading up to Skye for 2 weeks in July. Not so sure if it will go ahead at the moment though. See how things go ?
  24. Agree with that. Both mine have short hair. I do most my hunting in the southwest and overheating is more of a concern than the cold. When I’m up in the Welsh hills they don’t seem to suffer. They seem to both have a decent double coat on them and are happy to work all day.
