This cross should be able to take most game on a regular basis. Good and bad in everything. I wouldn’t mind trying this type but maybe with a spot of bull in it too.

Well done Trigger. Was a perfect night for it. Like you say, a good night to get the youngsters going. Had her sister out last night too. Youngest lad was itching to get out more than me and the dogs!

Newkid has some kits. Not sure if there’s any spare. If there is they will be ready in about a month. I’ll be passing at some point in September so happy to drop off Keith. Don’t go paying silly money for a pup. Something will come up.

It’s pretty busy down there in most places. Campsites are busy and so are the beaches on a sunny day. Busy in most the Devon/Cornwall resorts. I’ve been working in North Cornwall and North Devon and noticed the traffic getting heavier. If you are heading to the beach with family then stock up and take all your own food and drink. Queues are getting crazy for burger vans, ice cream etc. If you are eating out then book well in advance. If I’m just having a look around the beaches and coves I head out early doors to miss the crowds.

Anyone in Somerset? Can you bush with one dog?

If you want to rough shoot then you want a bushing dog more than a running dog. If you want it to catch outside of cover then something with a bit of whippet might be needed. I bush to 2 Lurchers with a single busher (Spaniel x terrier). We catch a few rabbits. If I was to shoot using just the busher we would have a decent bag most outings. I also bush with a couple of my mates beddy whippets and if I was looking to just own a single dog for what you want then this is definitely the way I would go. Got to get the right one though as not all beddy whippets will go into cover. Another option wo -

Get one from the right stuff and it won’t care if it’s 18-21 inches. The deer will still be on the menu! It might not pull them down but it will still hunt and chase them.
