Nice to be out with a few like minded lads and having the craic and a laugh aswell as geting the terriers dug to and the odd argument thrown in for good measure as everyone wants to be the teacher on a day out. From a safety point of view its good to have company with you incase something goes wrong or an accident occures which can easily happen or at least let someone know the area you are going to be in.

Any man can spout shite on here behind a user name,i would go as far as to say half of them dont even dig but it takes a good man to apologize and admit he was wrong and thats exactly what mixed grill has done so give credit where its due.PS my mate does not go on the www and he needs no apology he just got caught up in something that he had no part off and mixed grill if you heard him singing you would retract your statement,lol.atb.

Good season, started off well early in the season on the ducks geting shooting most evenings on the ponds but when the rains came the duck seemed to dwindle away but we still got some sport. The pheasants were plentiful this season as we built a new release pen sort of centre in clubs grounds and bought in 600 poults which done very well and when the shooting started they had matured into very good birds that had spread a long way out from the pen with feeders located around a mile radius of the pen to keep them about. The woodcock were the best shooting for me this season with some nice bags sho

I remember Packie 1 time we were out he was bursting for a crap so strolled of down the hedge to do the buisness. He was wearing overalls and as he was taking of the top half to get the bottom half down he forgot what he was doing and laid out the top half behind him on the ground and shit into them, and if that was not bad enough he then proceeded to pull them back up when finished no realizing the mistake he had made until he felt the warm shit against his back,f**k it was funny.Seen him another time while out on the local river poaching salmon strip off to his boxers and we started going down

Did Or Does Anyone Make A Living Out Of Work There Lurchers
fat man replied to bob84's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Most we ever got for fox pelts was £22 wet and £24 dryed and 18 for the full carcuss.Where we sold our foxs back then the lad that bought them could have 20-30 hanging on the outside of his shinning shed at a time and the house was about 100yds up the yard, many the time we drove into his yard with 2 to sell and he would finish with 3,buying 1 of his own, lol.Salmon depending on size could fetch £20-25 quid from the local hotels but that was late 70s early 80s too risky nowadays.I remember the last deer we sold to a hotel owner he gave us 100 for it but told us he could take no more as it had to -
We had a few digs on wednesday,no cubs but it will not be long now,we will finish up 1st wk in feb or next wknd if we hit on cubs,no point in killing your own sport imo.I know a lot of lads dig right up to end of march but we have no interest in diging cubs where as some lads get a kick out of it.

Was out a couple of weeks back with my digging mate but another mate who is not into digging or had never been on a dig decided he would tag along and see what it was about. We actually went to a bit of land he owned that held a couple of earths. We entered my bitch in a fairly big place but she settled at 1.7 which was handy enough. We broke through to her and i released her of the quarry and handed her to my mate to tie her up.My other mate was standing directly over me mad looking to see the quarry but he did not realize i had it by the tail and back legs.Where he stood was a huge bunch of bri

Packie was a young man there, also a young man when he died,an out and out gentleman,RIP.I remember Packie had 2 black dogs a;lso a bnt, they were all fox only as that was his interest. Can you remember who else was out with Packie when you were there,i reckon Obby had to be there.

My shooting mate and i went to a small pond this eve hoping for a shot at some species of duck. When we walked in on the pond 3 teal got off it with 2 falling to the guns so we were of the mark.We got hid in into the rushes and waited for our next victims. This was about 5.30ish and then in the distance we heard the sound of a mallard. We were straining our eyes trying to sight him and then in a flash 2 came across the pond with my mate dropping a nice drake,2nd got away, sent my lab Nell in and she retrieved the drake. It was geting dark fast now and we were just about to pack up when about 6-7 te

Thats what its all about, terrier working well and a bit of craic thrown in aswell, some lads take it way too seriously and make it look like a days work than a day out with like minded lads.

Zilverhaze its not the 1st time Bluck used someone else's pic's for his books or mags, the man is a pretender and only see's ££££££ notes,he is not a terrier man.He had a forum of his own going for awhile and actually threatened to grass up some lads, banned me from it because we had a difference of opinion and i would not agree with him so he spat the dummy. He went from borders to black dogs to J,russells all in about 3-4 years,he is a messer.

I agree with RH,you might get a decent worker from as RH says a haphazard breeding but that would be a 1 off in the litter where-as with parents from generations of well bred workers of the same line you increase your chances big time and the success rate in litters is a far higher %.

Fed sheep-lamb heads for years, plenty of meat on them and the lad that killed for the butcher used to skin the skull and jaws so it was easy to split the head with a small axe to let the dogs in at the brains, used to get heads, tripe, heart and the ribs also beef heads and hearts but lately its geting harder to get it.

If the likes of Nuttal,Gould,Parkes and all these men did not breed pups for sale then a lot of lads would have f**k all in there yards this present day and lets face it if you pay say £250 for a well bred pup thats parents and rest of the line are out and out workers and you get 9-10 years from said dog then it was really a cheap buy.

I reckon the mild weather is at fault, seasons are all f****d up.I also keep some game fowl about me and have hens sitting on eggs this past couple of weeks, very early for hatching.
-
Well as title says has anyone hit on cubs yet, friend of mine shot a vixen a couple of weeks back that was heavy in cub.We out today with a couple of lads off here, had 3 digs and a bolt, good days sport + the usual craic and slagging but no cubs as yet, soon as we do we finish for this season.

A few years back I had two weeks in Southern Ireland pike fishing, travelled around a lot and had some good sport, something I would like to do again. Where i live there used to be loads of good sized pike in the small local lakes,20lb and over but the non-nationals and google maps have seen the pike almost wiped out according to the local lads.I myself used to do a bit of pike fishing in some of these lakes but mainly stick to trout in a biggish lake local to me where also there can be good sized trout caught, was fishing last year and an English lad had 3 pike on a fly rod all well up in

We had a brilliant day on the woodcock today.1st we went to a local estate to see out local fox hounds meet and after having a look at them and a bit of a chat with a few people the hounds headed off and we headed of for our own destination which is mainly bogland dotted with small birch strips of woodland maybe 50yds wide and they run about 3-4 hundred yds in lenght and ideal for holding woodcock. The 1st strip we flushed 9 birds from it accounting for 4 and 1 teal from a small drain. The 2nd strip was much the same with plenty of woodcock and we shot another 3 in this and as we made our way ba

English Bull And Their Crosses Thread.
fat man replied to Lenmcharristar's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Maybe not breeds, but it must have added something to strains for guys to have persisted with those lines and strains that had that blood? Rather than going back to "pure" terrier? You'll have to ask some hard questions the next time you're down on the river. Myself and A were talking with a guy who offered his pay cheque for a 1/4 EBT cross bitch, way back when. Asked if she was the best bitch he'd seen? No, he said she had some knacks about her , but he knew she'd produce. He never bought her, but she produced a lot of bitches (and dogs) that again produced. I've never heard any o -
Bayer no good there you would need a real HARD ON.

Saw a few sealyhamxrussells work and they were as good as any other breed, maybe a little on the big size for some earths but when they got there they done the buisness.I was also gifted 1 from a lad after my own terriers were stolen. He was an ugly b*****d,head on him like a turnip and real long in the back with little stumpy legs, but what a terrier to work, few of here seen him and would have to agree he done the buisness. There is a chap that lives about half hour from me that to my knowledge still has a couple of the same breeding. They were bred between a few lads,Cork,Wexford and the lad that
