Mate of mine had 200 partridge ready for release from a small release pen for shoot day, night before a badger got in even though there was electric wire around the bottom of the pen,he killed every bird he could catch and what was not caught killed itself against the fencing of the pen, badger was still in the pen next morn when he went to release the birds.

  5. Out on the lake again today with my mate,we were on the water at about 10am and finished up at 2.30 with 10 nice brownies ranging from 2-31/2 lb so good day had again, lake fishing really well at the moment, reason we finished early was i was bringing in a fish and it went around the back of the boat and the line got wrapped around the propeller so it was a case of rowing back to shore and undoing the line from the engine.
  6. The fox is a surviver whether there is rabbits about or not,at 1 time it was a hot spot around my neck of the woods for rabbits with hauls of 60-70 a night being taken on the lamp with a couple of lurchers not counting what lads were geting with the ferrets but now you would be very lucky to hit double figures in a good night, local golf club is about the only place that still holds a good number but still loads of fox about.Disease, birds of prey, pinemartin, hunting everything takes its toll on the rabbits but the fox lives on,waterfowl, rats, mice not counting game birds and livestock he has an a

  8. My mate and myself went to my local lake today for a few hours fishing. The water was ideal for fishing with a nice breeze blowing to give a smallish wave.We started trolling up along what known as gelisans bay but not a lot happening there so moved down along the other shore where we started to get into some fish.My mate struck 1st with a nice brownie about 21/2 lb and within 20 min he was in again this time another brownie of 4lb.We trolled up and down and finially i was into a fish, another brown trout of about 2-3 lb,in the next hour or so my mate landed 2 more and myself 1 more,it got very

  10. Remember years ago we had an eel net down on the mouth of a river that runs to a small lake.We set the net around 8pm and checked it around 6am next morn,it was heaving with crayfish but only a few eel.The man that was with me took some just to try them out and later on informed me they were delicious, the rest we tipped back into the river.A few days later i was saying it to another man that does a fair bit of netting and he told me we were after throwing a good few quid back in the river,he also said that they migrate dont know if this is true but a wk or so later we done the same set and thi
