  1. why...........its perfectly legal. We all are aware that its legal but if it keeps geting the bad press its geting at the minute it wont be long before it illigal.Nans Pat your a hunting man, lurchers from what i read of your posts, would you like to have to be looking over your shoulder every time you take the dogs out for a run or dig just because some f***ing ejits get a hard on from seeing there kills on FB.
  2. Was out from early morn in the pisses of rain here today, had my old trusty hunter jacket on by Jack pyke, dry as a bone and warm only down side was i had no leggings on so jeans were soaked, cant win em all, just to add seen a fox leave a big marchy place today that was in excessible to me with just wellies on,he had to swin to get on the land as the springers were in pursuit of him, probably lying in wait for some sort of wildfoul.
  3. FB will be the end of terrier and lurcher work if some lads dont kop themselves on and start acting there age,is there really any need to post pics of what you got up to when out hunting-digging whatever.Fox hunting is legal so why dont we all try to keep it legal not destroy it for the the sake of a big macho image, keep the pics among yourselves and friens, keep them off the www.
  4. Bought what i was told was a 7/8 1/8 dhxgh bitch, smooth coated fawn bitch at 2yr old.She was a very fast bitch and killed a lot of game both day and night but not extra keen on quarry that bit back but a very good catch dog along side a slower animal.I bred her to a halfx dhxgh, very good all round dog with bags of pace and staying ability who took fox's for fun. When this litter was born they were all rough coated bar 1 dog pup which i kept myself, the rest were gifted to different lads and 2 went to GB with lads that came over digging every now and again. The dog i kept back i named SPUD and he
  5. Some young terriers will have the attitude to push up tight from the start and find there game with little effort where as others may take a bit of time and confidence to do so.In there 1st season a terrier imo should be kept winning if possible and let there confidence grow then they will quickly become a usefull terrier,2nd season give them harder and more.
  6. Some terriers have to be relayed from wk-wk to allow to be fit to work again as you know and it all depends on how much digging there geting.
  7. I agree with what your saying to a point but what if the young terrier had not been with the quarry as the topic is about 1st season dogs not finding and as you know quarry can push up tight in no time especially quarry thats been dug before, slightest sound and it will be well dug in.When you enter your young dog-bitch and it has a handfull of digs behind it but after say 10min emerges from the earth with no signs of work on it would you then try the experencied dog or walk away, imo it takes a young terrier a bit of time to learn that sometimes it has to actually dig on to find its game not ju
  8. Are Jay's protected birds? nice bird in appearence.
  9. Pablo are you saying that if you had a 1st season dog that travelled an earth[big-small] and after a while comes out and says nothing home you wont try an experienced terrier and give the youngster the benifit of the doubt, honest question? so dont come back wth insults.
  10. yea right pain in the neck don't you put them in the green bin ? I know you not meant too but what they going to do about it. I try and do mine on site before bringing home for that reason Never used the green bins before. Don't think we even have one here. Have taken some to my friend who is a butcher to chuck in his bins but don't want to take the piss Just chuck it across a hedge or into a field, the scavangers will have it gone by morn, fox, grey crow, magpie wont take them long to clear up.
  11. Good to see some lads are still working borders.
  12. See who the best terrier man, grow up and act your age ya sad prick.
  13. Tell me now that she is good looking with a body to match, you lucky sod, lol.
  14. There's 1 in every basket Zilverhaze,anyway how is your season going,good?
  15. I reckon the only wheaten you ever seen was in a book or magazine ya gobshite and as for digging, lol.
  16. Some of the fell types you see nowadays would put a nice sized working bred wheaten as small, big black things like collies and they have they have the cheek to say nothing gets past them, how the f**k would anthing get past.
  17. Some people call PK a peddler, maybe of lurchers yes,but he earned his name by having bred good dogs and still has and breeding good dogs even at an old age.The dog he had back then[WHEATEN] was a dog called Rambo,i would not expect you to even hear tell of the dog Pabs, but this dog was well known and well worked something i think ou know f**k all about,so go have your few cannies and your smoke or whatever turns you on you arsehole.
  18. Had a wheatenxfell that we dug a lot of quarry with, great finder but gave no ground at all when up to its quarry.
  19. Few lads from across the border used to come down digging to me for a few year and they had some very good wheatens also staff's,these men knew how to both handle and work there dogs also my late brother in law kept strong dogs and had a very usefull wheaten bitch, good at her job,he bred her to a big wheaten dog belonging to PK but she ate the pups.He went back to PK and purchased a wheatenxbull pup of that same dog, another good dog at its work but iffy around terriers after working.
  20. I reckon there are plenty good wheatens still about just the lads that have them keep them to them selves and rightly so.The wheaten in the right hands is a usefull tool but when the wrong sort have them thats where they get a bad name.
  21. Thats actually light in comparison to some that are slaughtered.
  22. Got 2 killed about 5 year ago on the qt as i had no herd number and it cost me 90euro each and that was half and half, pork n bacon plus sausages but i had no room for it all so sold 1 ready for the freezer 250 so covered the cost of killing plus the fact that i got most of the food while rearing them for free, bags of fruit n veg that were slightly gone off and about 5 ton of meal from a small piggery that was closing down and had it left in the silo. They kiled out at 14stone each which the butcher said was ideal,a hell of a lot of meat in a pig.
  23. Ken Goulds Nigger was undershot by an inch and he bred him extensivly, your not talking from experience just speculation.....best you sit this debate out. A man once said your better to say nothing and be thought as stupid than to open your mouth and remove all doubt! Ive just bred 2 closely related dogs both undershot and outstanding workers, both pups have good mouths,as in a perfect scissor bite, undershot is just an upside down scossor bite,it affects nothing. Yeah years and years ago before they started breeding the faults out of them, yes your pups will probably be fine but watch what they t
