If a terrier is bred right its easy enough to get them started but its even easier to finish them.I remember myself and a mate traveling over to derbyshire in the early 90s for a wknds digging and also to collect a bitch of year old from parents i had seen dug to a few times and rated them.We were supposed to go by ferry but when we reached Dublin the weather was so rough that the ferriers were not sailing so it was a rush to the airport and a stand by flight into birmingham followed by a train journey to Derby where we then were met eventually met by a mate.We had a good wknd digging and then

£300 is not that bad for a well bred pup,if the pup is what he says it is and it works out for you then you will have years of sport from it,a good wknd in the pub would cost that and all there is to show for it is a sick head,i know ive done it,lol. -
Yeah it sure is a different story when it comes lambs. A great way to keep fit though chasing the little shit about the field and getting the rings on them. Its six to one for some half dozen to the other different law for some, different law for the other . From what i have been told the biggest reason the vets dont want to dock tails is the paper work that goes with it and that came straight from a vet.A mate of mine went last year to a vet to get a litter of ess docked and she refused on the grounds that if the pups were going over the water to new homes the amount of paper work she wou

We were diging in a place a few weeks back and in the field we were walking down to get to the earths were 2 huge buck goats,1 black,1 brown,i thought to myself jigsaw would love a run at them, seems to be more and more of them appearing around me lately, small herd just out the road that holds about 20-25 and a couple more herds scattered about in quiet places.

Farmhand that is a great offer for somebody who is keen for some digging, what i cant get around is why have 3 of ye not got a digging dog between ye,i know you said ye have pups-young dogs but for 3 different terrier lads in the same clic to end up with nothing to dig to seems strange to me.

Liam very naughty puting up pics of dogs and quarry, tut tut, some people will be very annoyed, lol, she is a lovely bitch and looks in fantastic order, pity she dont like teeth.I had a ghxdh bitch years ago,7/8 gh x 1/8 dh that was an excellent bitch to catch a fox, tremendous speed and great strike but she had to have a 2nd dog in straight away or the fox was gone, she would not kill or hold herself but i accounted for a lot of foxes with her and another mutt i owned.

Chesney dont let some prick move you away from something you enjoy doing, back stabbing and jealousy are common in the dog game no matter what type of dogs you keep, even seen it when i used to keep a couple of track dogs about me,if you had a decent greyhound every c**t wanted to see it lose out of jealousy.I presume you still have your dogs around so have a think and maybe come back again next season, dont do anything in haste.

I had 2 3rd season bitchs this season that had a good amount of work put there way as did there litter sister and brother and all have showed they are up for it and been dug in some difficult places and some very easy places but they seen plenty with little or no hic-ups.I have also a 10 month old bitch of same breeding [sire-dam] both the same but wont know anything about her until next season only that the breeding is there but looking forward to seeing how she turns out.

True, true, and when you have youngsters coming up to their first season that's when you have the Jitterbugs Will they, won't they ???????????? You forgive them for their inexperience and praise them for everything they do correctly and I wont bullshit you, I often had an extra pint that night when a pup did well. Second season ??? That's when they start to earn the two years of feeding, rent and cleaning up after them. It's also time for them to do their parents proud. BUT, when you work with the same bloodlines all the time IMO you should see what you want to see in the first season. I

Work its all a part of life, you start school at 4 year old some were lucky and went on to college university and so on more not so lucky and ended up doing back breaking work for most of there adult lives and then come retirement age they are too f****d up to enjoy it.I have worked on the buildings since i was 12half between labouring to brickies and plasterers to concreteing, then scaffolding for over 20 years,i now work in a factory sitting on my arse for 8 hours a day and get the same respect as i did when i was breaking my bollox, makes you wonder at times.I listen to young lads in the facto

I reckon the 2nd season is the tester for a terrier when a lot more difficult places are put in front of it and a lot more work, see how many will still be about end of 2nd season.

She only lives about 20min away from me,and only last year in a local pub in my town there was a fundraiser for a local dog shelter. This pub laid on tea and sandwiches free of charge for the attendance that was there. This pub is also steeped in history for hunting and certain other lets say country activities and there were some stuffed animals, birds, chickens dotted about the place and all she did was complain about the poor animals and birds and how they must have died a terrible death, some of these were up on 100 year old,you Neil actually ended up with 1 some years back. -
Dug cubs years ago when doing a job for a farmer with a machine clearing a small ditch.the bank was only around 30yds in lenght and about 2ft in height and in was pulling it away using a small track machine.I noticed a fresh hole on the side of the bank as i was pulling with the bucket and when i got out to have a look there were 4 cubs uncovered still alive and around 3-4 days old,it was then i neard the vixon screeching and she was about 60yds away to my left sitting watching me.I stoped what i was doing ,turned of the machine and went off away home for a couple of hours. When i got back the

IMO i reckon that if a person keeps puting sounder to sounder sooner than later they will end up with terriers not capable of doing a job,im talking about out and out sounders not mixing types.I was always led to believe that when it comes to breeding the chosen bitch should be more than capable of finishing a fox if needs be and the dog in question should be able to finish on a regular basis and this is what i have tried to do down through the years even though i have not bred many litters.A sounder is ok in a place where there is a good chance of a bolt but if it becomes a dig at sat 2-3 met

f**k me ye lads would make a man feel old with yer whinging, lol ye are only in early 50s so snap out of it,i know men that are years ahead of ye and still out doing what they love,Hunting, and not a word about giving up or calling it a day,D you know 1 of them men,you dug with him while over here,P.K. and he is in his early 80s,still out with lurchers and follows hounds +deer stalking and from march on fishing, enjoy it as long as you can lads as there may come a day when it will no longer be.

Bitch had 6 pups,3 dogs 3 bitchs but they got that puppy syndrome disease and i lost 5 pups,1 bitch survived 10 months old 23rd january.I was later told i could have had the bitch jabbed against it but i never heard of it until it happened, lesson learned for next time i decide to breed a litter, vet said its actually a sexual transmitted disease that dogs can pass on. Fatman, when does the bitch get jabbed, when she is in pup? Thanks As Jiggy said,2 weeks after mating and a couple of weeks before she pups.

Most dogs are unkno

Why try and stir shit again, leave it be,it was between MG and NC and a mate of mine got dragged in to it unknown to himself as he is not on here and all he is guilty of is having a harmless conversation with 2 lads he met out shooting on saturday but there conversation was twisted and lies were told.Mixedgrill has openly made his apology on here so leave it at that.
