  1. lolol that blows Neil's opinion that Kerry's don't do anything lololololol They didn't then and they don't do anything now. If you run a trial for Kerry Blues then you will find out which is gamest. That's how it was done by the K.C. 'till '66. After that the trials fell into the hands of terriermen and they were open to all breeds. That's when the Kerry Blue and the Glen were shown to be the curs that they truly were. Like I've always said, the Kerry Blue and the Glen were rough curs. So were / are most Staffs and Wheatens but those two breeds can throw up some game ones too. Let's face
  2. Heard of a man years ago that would feed fox carcass to his dogs after skinning them, his reason for it was that if the terrier happened to get the wrong side of its fox and killed it that it would have no problem in eating its way out rather than been blocked by a dead fox, maybe just hearsay maybe not,who knows.
  3. shes got a habit of eating them underground. lol Have you never encountered it Stop.End,ive seen it a few times with different breeds over the years, that dog in my avatar would make a right mess of a fox if he were to ground for a long period of time.
  4. It made no difference whether they pushed or tried to draw, there was a time limit they had to achieve in silence and that was the way they were judged, they had to reach there game also within a time limit and then work it.I reckon there is still plenty of good wheatens about just that the men that keep them keep a tight ship.
  5. Lee i can honestly say that i have never seen what i would call even a decent Glen and i have seen a few over the years but wheatens or staffs are a different kettle of fish, seen some really good working dogs from both breeds but then again that was also a good many years ago.I think there was a thread up here a couple of year ago about the trials in which someone put up a report from some of them stating certified dogs.
  6. I personally would not keep any just for fear i might have to use the f***ing things, lol.
  7. Lee go back and read the results from the trials and see how many glens are there compared to wheatens or staffs,no comparison.
  8. lolol that blows Neil's opinion that Kerry's don't do anything lololololol I reckon there just proper wheatens not like a lot of the shit thats been bred nowadays.
  9. Why do people get so upset over a f***ing rossette, its out in the country where a terrier makes its name not parading about on a lead in circles around a ring,There were some very decent looking dogs on show at the westmeath and also a lot of rossette hunters but who cares its only a bit of craic at the end of the day.I know Dillydog a long time now and know that he would always choose a worker above anything else, the man has been working terriers a long time and knows what he's about so to the lads that think otherwise, build a bridge.
  10. Would bringing in new hounds not leave the situation even worse, strange dogs in kennells with a pack that already are at each others throats or can you seperate or have the room to do so.I see it wit the terriers also this time of the year, weather hot and humid and dogs narky as f**k,once the hunting kicks off again it should sort itself out.
  11. Seen a few that were crossed with russells for digging and they made damn good terriers,a digging club from NI kept a few of them and they were worked hard and done there job, also an old friend of my own bred a litter of half cross englishbull xrussell many years ago and most of the litter turned out decent dogs.
  12. There was also a dog called Blade in Laois from what i was told made quite a name for itself but was also informed by someone that dug the dog often that he was just a decent digging dog, nothing special, there was also a lurcher called Blade in the same yard, bullx believed to be a very good dog.
  13. Thanks for that fm, im just back from fanad, was there three days an caught a tiny seatrout at the beach, came up short on the lakes, again. Then headed out to the foyle when I got back this evening, high water an nothing caught fm. 14. Best of luck to Wales i really hope they go all the way now,for such a small nation comparing to sum it is a great achievment, well done to the team and the supporters.
  15. Francie there is a little river that runs between dunkineely and killybegs that holds a lot of salmon and sea trout, just a small stream that runs right up from the sea, best time is evening .
  16. I can buy the 7 in 1 jab for 12euro in my local chemist and the vets in town will charge you 45 +15 for the visit which all in ends up 60 euro, robbing b*****ds,my own vet lets me have the jabs for a tenner but its not worth the hassle driving down to her when i can get them beside me for 2 euro more.how long ago was that FM?-great value-seem to be gone up wherr i used get them. Still the same price in local chemist and my vets.
  17. Funny thing happened this morning when i went to muck out the dogs and let them out in the run.I work shift work so dont get home until 1.30 am and last night-morning when i arrived home the dogs were going mad but i checked and nothing out of the ordinary so shouted at them to be quiet and left it at that. This morning when i went down they were still going mad so when i unlocked the kennell and went in i let out 2 of the terriers that were cosest to the door and they straight away went to the side of the fridge i have for the dog meet.I was fully sure i had a rat present so i carefully pushed

  20. There a bit like dogs Bryan, not all the same,i have a mate who wanted to get his old lab pts and did not want to do it himself or let me so he phoned a vet in a local town to us,he was asked 90euro to pts and dispose of the dog.He phoned me and told me the craic and i then phoned a lady vet i deal with and she done it for 25 disposing of the dog and all, same injection but 65 euro cheaper same thing when jabing a pup or adult dog she is cheaper by miles.
  21. This pup i got from Taz flew into the hoover the first few times it was used around it,he also flew at cars on the road when he first started going out, with a LITTLE dissapline and a reasuring touch he now totaly ignores the hoover ,don't even flinch at a tractor going close past him on the lead. It's piss easy lee and your just trying the old aggressive bollocks to cover up your short commings with terriers. You had a chance with a good little bitch who'd have taught you so so much but you couldn't/wouldn't/won't take the time to learn the trade properly and were looking far to far ahead mate a
  22. Have you tried a gill net with a good dept of drop line on it and about 40yds in width in a nice place out of sight from the human eye,lol you could fill your frezzer in the 1 go.
  23. Lets hope the weather picks up a bit for the show.
  24. Not big into soccer but whem ,Mick McCarty was Irish manager and i think it was the world cup and dont ask me where it was as i dont know or give a shit but didnt Roy Keane pull a stropy and leave the tournement just because things were not quite the way he wanted them leting down his country, his team mates and most of all the fans that had travelled and spent there hard earned cash to be there.Roy was a good player who gave his all for both club and country but on that particular occasion i thing he was very un professional, the rest of the squad had to put up with the same conditions, what mad
