I had a nice old type lakey bitch back about 20 odd year ago that was an exceptional fox bitch. She died aged around 11 while having pups for her son who belonged to a mate of mine, another very good dog,i think a couple off here will remember the dog[bonzo] it was the only way of trying to keep the strain alive but unfortunatly it did not come to pass.I also got a lakey bitch from a man up in NI,these were a good strain aswell and well tested.I had her up until she was 15 months old then she along with a lot more got stolen on me,i had dug to her 3 times and reckon she would have made the grade

How on earth can you say Villa belong in the premiership, they have been knocking on the door of the championship for years now always were a nearly team, nearly relagated, they deserve to be where they are, just look at there record for the last 2 seasons, deplorable.I would like to see the likes of Leeds,Blackburn or Forest come back up,they are big clubs that deserve to be in the premiership.Newcastle got beat last night by Fulham who had a poor run last season and have recently sold the best striker in the championship,i reckon Villa and Newcastle will struggle to come to terms with the challen

Stop End i choose the men i dig with very carefully, and no offence to you but your not one of them,i have mates to show me ground in donegal and most places around the country. Now this thing with yourself and Neil Cooney is starting to get boring, its about time ye put it to rest. You are 1 of the reps for the IWTF in NI and yet your on here bickering like a bitch with Neil on most threads thats started, can you not see that the man is drawing you out and laughing his bolloxs off at the good of it.I am not taking any sides,i dont know you to speak with,i was standing beside you at the show, you ha

I have never worked what you call rock places, maybe a few places with a few big rocks but nothing hectic, lol but i reckon a deep sandy earth is every bit as dangerous as the rocks even though you can dig to the terrier,a lot of things can happen in the sand especially running sand.

We found that the straight plate between the prongs actually got in the way while pushing it into the ground,a small rock or stone under the surface would stop you from pushing it full distance. What we done was cut it back into a v shape, much better and still as strong, great tool in heavy ground.

if I'm not mistaken Neil likes to give his dogs an hour before he digs, isn't that right NeilWhat gave me away ???????????? The part of my post where I said I'd give a terrier an hour to settle in a big place ???You're a right little Columbo aren't you. You are around Stop End to much Mixed Grill as you's are both on the same wave length regarding working terriers. As I said to Stop End, ye should learn a bit about terrierwork at home before starting to tell others how to do it. missed you at the west Meath show Neil I was hoping to introduce myself to youI was there Mixed Grill, you should h

I also liked the old grey box but they were so unreliable either box or collar could give up at anytime and almost anything would interfere with them, electric fences, pylons even old steel buried in the ground caused them to scrape lol,but very accurate on the break through.

A dog has to be micro chipped once docked in England , and now every dog has to be chipped £500 fine for not being chipped is it really that big of a deal to do thing properly??? Who is going to see your dog unless your parading it around at shows,i have at the minute 5 terriers,2 springers and a lab and i would say maybe 4-5 different people see my dogs year in year out.I understand that your laws are more severe than with us but unless you are showing your dogs to every tom dick and harry who is going to know if there docked or not or if a vet has done them or not.

Friend of mine phoned me early this morning and asked if i wanted to go for a trout on lene as i am a break from work so i agreed. We met at 9.30 and headed down.It was quite windy as we were leaving home but a lot worse when we reached the lake.We decided to give it a go and launched the boat in the water with a struggke as the waves were pushing us back in on the slipway. We eventually got out on the water but had to retire within an hour as we were tossed and threw about the lake like a football, lol my mate was actually scared anyway we got the boat back in and loaded on the trailer. While i w

stop end I had the sire of Russell tucks bitch if he could get to his fox he would kill it simple as the dog was 3/4 bedlington1/4 Lakeland and when he was in the ground many times over night sometimes days he would eat some of the fox plenty of pics on working bedlingtons on here mate atbI know a few terriers that are able to dispatch a fox underground, the reason i know this is because when there dug out they are with there fox and i have witnessed it. Yous are saying your terrier does this and that in the rocks and what im saying is unless you get to your dog in the rocks yous havent a flyi

Anyone Working Deerhound/collie/greyhound At The Moment?
fat man replied to Gaz_1989's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Had a 7/8 ghx1/8 dh years ago that i put to a half x dhxgh dog. This bitch was very fast and took all quarry but with ease. She had 7 pups and 6 were rough coated and 1 brindle coloured dog smooth which i kept myself,2 were given to lads from uk and the rest to lads local to myself. The dog i kept back made about 26in and was good and strong with lots of pace.He took his 1st fox at 9mts of age by accident while out mooching about with him his mother and a couple of terriers, fox broke from cover and dog [sPUD] was loose and spoted it and took it like a pro.At 11mts he took his 1st Deer again by ac -
Good luck with them Chesney,at least you know when these are reared you can keep them and they wont be taken back.

Was scaffolding for 22 years, loved every minute of it even in the bad weather but once you cross the 50 mark it all gets a lot harder so i opted for an easier life but have to say made right good money at the scaffolding.

never said that they were equal in numbers to wheatens i did say that wheatens excelled but some even though a small amount of the kerry blues and glens worked and worked well in the early days if trials were brought back nowadays you would quickly see how far back the wheatens have gone working wise from been showed theres a few good wheatens knocking around still but they are small in numbers now too. I agree with what you say about the shows killing the working wheatens but it was also the laws enforced on us that are as much to blame, one time we could park up along side a busy road and g

I agree Chesney but lucky enough there is still men that keep the line alive, which should be done so that they don't be lost to the KC crap you see today. Terriers done the work back in the day also but as Neil said the majority of terriers that provided the game for the trials never got a certificate as they wouldn't work as required in a shore, mainly because they were too hard and had to be lifted. Quite ironic Imo. Fox dogs won more certificates something I never agreed with. The terriers should have been judged properly in a bank on a dig but there's no point in crying over spilt milk be

The wheatens from the 60s,70s 80s are far removed from the wheatens that are paraded about nowadays.I have not seen any reports of trials from the 1900,s or of how Glens or Kerry blue,s fared out in the field but on written evedence and from what i seen myself the wheaten excelled in the field as did the staff and hasve seen a few crosses of these type that also done the job but i can honestly say i have never seen a decent glen or Kerry blue in the field.Lads about half hour away from me kept Glens for years and i seen these in action on a number of occasions and they were not what i would ca
