  1. I once left a bitch in the vets for treatment after a long hard dig.My usual vet had answered the phone to me and said bring her on in.When i got there my usual vet had been called out to a mare that was foaling and there was a lady vet there instead. My bitch was clearly well marked up from wprk over the years which she made a comment on straight away and i replied it was all part of the job the dog done and she just shook her head and took the bitch away to put her on a drip. She said the bitch would have to be kept over night and to phone next morn.I was away to work around 6 and around 8 i d
  2. Lee if your bitch was as good as you say i cant for the world understand why you pts.The other dog you have JOE you have said that it does not look like he is going to make a digging dog as he has come away or failed to find or something along them lines and your bitch pup may not either[hope she does] so what possessed you to pts a bitch that was doing the buisness even if you could not have bred of her she was a worker.Have you still got the Joe dog as you will hardly put him across a bitch seeing that he is not reliable,in reality all you are left with is the bitch pup.Lee it was your choic
  3. Why would you pts a wotking bitch at 4 year old just because she could not have pups, there would have been another 5-6 seasons left in her.Lee your choice i know but its not that very long ago that you were on here saying how lucky you were to actually recieve that bitch and how good a worker she was, seems a shame to destroy her, jmho.
  4. Nothing wrong with a lurcher on a dig as long as it has a bit of manners about it and not a constant nuicence trying to get in the dig or up to its tail in an entrance. As has been said if you give a lurcher a lot of hole ending then you will have a problem as all it will want to do is get in the ground and 9 times out of 10 will actually miss a bolt because it will be concentraiting too much on the dig than the entrances or is tied up away from the dig and by the time it gets of its too late.I have had a lurcher on digs nearly all the time with little or no problems and brought out from a youn
  5. Lol,have to try and keep the numbers down and the freezer full, was chatting to a lad today that was also on Lene yesterday and he was fly fishing and was on the lake from 8am until 7pm and caught nothing and told me it was much the same with the rest of the lads using the fly.A mate of mine was on it on friday along with his 9 year old son and the young lad hooked and boated a 8.6 rainbow and within 5 minutes boated a 4.6 brownie all on the taz.
  6. Had a 6lb brownie on lene yesterday and my mate had a couple of pike and he also caught a couple of perch.
  7. probably get to have a chat with you there Chesney.
  8. See that statue in Killigh a lot over the summer months, actually looks very good.
  9. Your end of this country is pretty nice aswell Francie, always liked Donegal and the people are nice and friendly especially the ladies lol.
  10. Are you for real.its that kind of muppets that has the game f****d with there vids and pics of dogs with game and all it is about is self ego.
  11. If the right breeding was in the dog it would be a liability around the smaller terriers, have you ever seen a proper wheaten or bull when there worked up.
  12. Yeah fishing well at the moment,as you know we missed a few sundays on lene recently so was good to get out on sunday last and hopefully will be on it again this coming sunday providing nothing else on.
  13. do you eat them? I done our dinner there rainbow trout poa, I mean caught last night, drizzled in oil with butter rubbed in too the ground black pepper and a squeeze of fresh lemon then roasted in the oven, delicious Eat some and give some to neighbours and friends, cook them same as yourself, clean them out stuff them with all sorts of herbs and peppers, paste them with sweet chilli sause and rap them in tinfoil and into the oven and as you said delicious with a nice brown bread cake fresh from the bakery.
  14. Was siting in the car park at work at lunch time today on the phone to a friend. There was a car parked about 20yds away with the passenger window open about 2in and a grey crow was somehow balancing on the top of the window trying to pull something from the persons jacket which hung beside the window. As i watched i could see it was something shiny and after a couple of minutes the grey crow got his prize,it was a pack of tobbaco as it flew by where i was sat i could see it plainly in its beak, would have loved to have got it on vid.
  15. If the pups are 6wks old then its hardly a case of 1 left oin her as i reckon the poison would have gone through her in a matter of days could just be an infection she has picked up and i reckon the geting sick part is for the pups sake.
  16. We were out on Lene again yesterday and fished for around 2 hours with not asmuch as a pull.I then decided to move and started trolling over and back along a shelf in the lake where it drops from aroun 6ft to arounf 10-12.This runs for about 300yds and after about 15min my mate Eamon was into a fish and landed a nice 4lb rainbow, few later i was in and a fish of around 3lb was also in the boat.Things went quiet then for about half an hour and then i was into a 2nd fish which joined the other 2 in the boat and within seconds of starting to troll agsain Eamon was in and another fish was in the bo
  17. Rob i have seen and had dogs that as i thought did not look or seem to need a jab after a dig[few bites on the muzzle nothing to worry about] so good wash with some sort of antiseptic wash,i use betadine and all is well only to go out to the kennell next morning to find the same terrier that you thought was fine with a head like a bucket its that swolen so now i dont leave anything for granted, jab the dog job done, also there is a range of different antibiotics that can be got so not using the same thing all the time.
  18. It does not have to be in a liquid form you can use a antibiotic in tablet form which can be obtained from a vet......next question, lol. LOL you must have a sick dog to take to the vet in the first place to obtain said antibiotics. The vet I use said she likes a terrier to be a terrier she is a shooting woman who understands the need for pest control Not the vet i use.
  19. Sometimes we are failing despite the work of the dog. Last season, 5 days without any badger, they were in the terrier but we failed. Sometimes, just one badger for all the day. Few times more, all the clan in the same stop end. This proves that badger hunting has nothing to do with badger baiting. If a dog is able to stay two hours or more with 6 or 7 badgers in the same tunnel, there's no fight. Otherwise, the dog would be destroyed and killed. According to me, badger has just one weak spot, just one. The weak spot is self-confidence, a too large assurance. So badgers are waiting with t
  20. From what i can gather they dispatch everything so they wont be digging an educated animal.

  22. Lee if you read my post again i did say inject if needed.A fox can give a very nasty bite and a very dirty bite which becomes infected quite quickly so if i or we have a terrier that has had a rough time then we will jab it up and clean as good as we can until we get back home,i will also give them a pain killer as i reckon it helps big time and they will eat there grub when you get them back home instead of lying up feeling sorry for themselves,i like to see a terrier eat and drink after a hard dig.
