  1. Had the garda a hip flask of curacho ? It sounds like nothing I've ever seen or even heard of and I very much doubt if the guard had seen that happen either. It sounds like he came out with a mish mash of misunderstood, garbled up and neurotic semi fictional anecdotes.
  2. No, that's genuine first crosses. In a first cross one side is pure deerhound, whereas in a generation bred half cross (ie. half cross to half cross to half cross etc) there is greyhound on both sides so other colours can "click in".
  3. She looks a good combination of speed with a bit of strength.
  4. Whatever anyone might think of Whin his dog throws v. nice pups when over a decent bitch. Haymins reared a smashing looking litter there.
  5. Apparently she rescued it from gyppos he's staying clear of it, if gyppos had it, was probs robbed in the first place.. 6. Always been illegal to run bambi in beam mate Ok, When ya wearing a balaclava....how do you stop dogs hunting on after bambi when running it out the beam? ha. same way you stop a dog running rabbits when its not in the beam you turn off and the dog comes back doesn't it? I fecking hope not. . . that would be rather upsetting. . . . not for me pal I find a dog running around in the dark on its own more so upsetting. Not being funny, but surely anyone who's done enough lambing, especially bigger stuff, but even rabbits, will have had a dog catch out of the beam p

Once a dog gets a taste for catching deer it'll usually keep going as long as it can see (in moonlight), hear or sometimes even smell it. They won't whistle back as easy as with rabbits. It can cause a few situations, both day and night.
  8. only ever got rid of 1 dog and that was a beardie.I've been seriously tempted What don't you like about your beardie/grey? He looks well capable if he's the one in a photo on another thread. I'm guessing it's to do with temperament. It's entirely to do with temperament, he's an arsehole. How's he with other things, tough feet, catching, using his nose etc??

  10. Image is downloaded from internet first pic that came up when I googled greyhound and pups Now I'm shocked and stunned!
  11. Now that you's mention it none of the dogs in the pics look anything like any lab cross lurcher I've ever seen, pup or adult. My guess would be that their bitch got out in season and they decided on the first thing that came to mind.
  12. I read it years ago but finding the old thread about it set me looking for the film of him calling hares.
  13. After reading an archived thread on here I did some poking around and found this - http://www.eafa.org.uk/catalogue/330 Enjoy
  14. Learn some polish phrases an keep walking COOORVAH!!!!!
  15. I agree. I like my blitz variable and 14ah lithium for serious hunting but the led lenser I got at christmas will fit in my pocket and is great for those days when it's dark when I go to work and dark again when I get back. Dogs need to be exercised still and it's perfect for a walk round the fields.
  16. If you really want to be righteous just do your best to be honest and fair to other people, whatever their beliefs or race but remember that most wars are caused and/or fought by people who either believe or profess to believe that they know what is ultimately right and therefore have the right to impose it on others. Make you're own mind up. Don't be swayed by those who seek to convince you they know what's best.
  17. no messing but he finds some strange shit, hes found earths dug deep in cover that you couldnt see unless you carried a chain saw, bloody injured birds, killed a pigeon in front of a load of school kids one frosty morning,i was ashamed of my life, coursed and caught another pigeon in a local public park in front of dozen of people,I brought them home but couldnt make out if they were safe,i put a topic up here and it leaned towards avoiding them Those are ceps, also known as "boletus edulis". Google the name. I spend a fair bit of time hunting those in autumn. Most of the bolete family are ed
  18. Does he sniff out those mushrooms jigsaw? IMO those are the tastiest wild mushrooms and their aren't many similar looking ones that aren't edible. The only real drawback with them is that everything else likes them too. (Cows, slugs 'n snails, goats etc.)
  19. I'm interested in hearing about that outing too. Be good to see what I can learn from it. On another note I got an led lenser i9r given at christmas. This is only a small torch (under 8 inches) but seems to have a decent beam for such a little thing. Looks very white though and seems to light up the ground without lighting game. I haven't lamped with it yet but did walk up the fields to see what it was like. It picked up running rabbits ok but when a fox was in the beam it disappeared as soon as it looked away (as they do). Gaz mate, sorry to hear your signing off. Good luck and hope all goe
  20. That girl's a keeper mate. Look after her.
  21. Best of luck with him mate, I'm sure he'll do well if you can get him onto game regularly once you start.
  22. Be careful of ibuprofen with dogs. http://www.vetstreet.com/care/ibuprofen-and-naproxen-toxicity It's quite toxic to them. Metacam is a much better bet.
  23. Gulden Draak, Piraat triple....... . cheers!!
