  1. It's a capped elbow, caused by laying on hard ground or boards. When you drain them they sometimes go away and sometimes don't. This say's a bit about the condition https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hygroma_(canine_disease) I had a dog years ago that got one and he wouldn't keep bedding in the kennel. I drained it and eventually got better but you could always tell it had been there. It didn't affect his working ability. If you drain it with a syringe, make sure the needle is sterile and that you don't do any more damage with the point.
  2. She doesn't seem too bothered by the nettles.
  3. Thanks for the link K ing. Some amazing photos there.
  4. All this talk of old timers and no-one's mentioned Manali or the Kulu valley. Apart from the temple balls no-ones mentioned the himalayas at all!
  5. I know, was just making a point in general really. After morton's negative post . I think the pair of those pups have probably turned out pretty decent, especially the bitch, but I will agree with morton about her left hind foot, it did look a bit flat lol, might've been just the way she was stood though. Pics are not the best resource of checking something out properly lol would be nice to hear how they came on now and how they look,as young dogs never do a cross any credit I doubt if we'll hear about them as the lad's account's gone dormant from lack of use so unless he's here in a di

  7. I find the introduction of Grey improves most Deerhound breeding now, thats how much they have slipped away from their true heritage,KC feckwits and peddlers.Id rather own an half decent bull x than a poor Deerhoundy.I hope that soap does not linger when i scrub my mouth out. With the right type of greyhound I'd agree with this and as Bill Hardy said, the right lurcher either.
  8. any link to where it can be got? Bandon medical hall, good prices compared to other places too and he sells vaccinations etc. thats the vetenary/farm shop just up the side street from the bridge in the town MF? Yes, that's the one.

  10. I think that would be Alex. There were a couple of decent bitches by him on c.curs.
  11. I use bravecto on mine. It's expensive but seems to give me well over 3 months cover. It covers ticks too which is important as there're a lot in some of the places I go. I even get them on me from time to time. With the 3 months cover it works out cheaper in the long run.
  12. Thanks for posting that Artic. The CWD haven't made it over here (yet) but I look forward to when they do. (Munties have made the leap though I've not seen one here yet).
  13. This old book MF? had it about 25 years seen them go for up to £150 on ebay. No, not that one though I enjoyed it when I read it years ago. The one I meant was Darcy's one here http://www.ebay.ie/itm/The-hare-and-the-swift-hound-Jonathan-darcy-working-lurcher-book-/282129386762?hash=item41b038cd0a:g:AwYAAOSw-itXqi-3 "The Hare and the Swift Hound".I'd like a copy of Dutch Salmons one too.I think it has a similar title to the one in your picture. Here we are http://www.high-lonesomebooks.com/pages/books/15589/dutch-salmon/gazehounds-coursing enjoyed the dutch salmon book a good read.
  14. This one deals with choosing temperament in pups. He goes through a litter assessing them.
  15. This old book MF? had it about 25 years seen them go for up to £150 on ebay. Remember they being a copy of that in Rotherham public library when it first come out carnt remember the chaps name who wrote the chapter on lurchers in the book. I read it in a public library too . Can't remember where though. It was a long time ago now.
  16. That's one of the ones I'd like alright.

  20. Dogs and Deer is IMO Darcy's best book, out of the ones I've read. I'd like to read "Now That's what I Call Lurcher Work" 1, 2, and 3 but can't spare the money to buy them ATM. Thought "Scooby" was good and "Running Dog Addiction" too but found the "Passion for Coursing" ones a bit boring to be honest. I guess that just reflects on me rather than the books. Wouldn't mind a look at the big "Coursing" coffee table book though!!!
  21. Keeps you fit anyway. The local foot packs here are mainly harriers and it's only a handful of the more keen lads that keep up. The rest spend half the time driving about, trying to find out where they've gone.
  22. Anyone try these? http://www.wildhunter.eu/index.php?route=product/product&path=59_73&product_id=125 Or these http://www.wildhunter.eu/index.php?route=product/product&path=59_146&product_id=563
  23. Is the wiring issue sorted now then? I didn't know that. My blitz is wired straight to a right angle bullet plug that has to be taped to the deben lithium. I do like the Blitz variable though. I have it strung round my neck and it covers every situation I need it for, wide beam, narrow beam, bright, dim etc. It's only problem is when it's blowing a real gale the wind catches it a bit and of course the shit wiring.
