  1. Sound decision pal. I sincerely hope it works out for you and her.
  2. I think they should make good allrounders ok. The only possible problems I would forsee is thin skins and weak feet but that's only possibilities. Most likely they'll be good being bred from a good dog and a bitch that raced well.
  3. Hard line antis do indeed want the world to become vegan but they are as much of a minority as we are. Maybe more so? It's the majority of meat eating, possibly animal loving, and possibly angling people in the middle who's opinions we ought to worry about. As Trenchfoot has said, a moral case for hunting is easy to make but baiting caged animals, chasing farmers in cars and so on won't help wider public opinion at all and the opinion of the wider public is what will bring an end to hunting altogether in the end. Not antis. Without public support they'd be powerless. When Forest of Dean said
  4. Try telling a bull cross or infact anything with anything about it not to run when it's got something in its sight haha you might be able to train a lurcher to do it but you'll have to break it's spirit i think.it don't matter if it's 1 yd from home and were how ever far away unless she's on a lead she'll go.don't bother me though apart from that pulling like feck and always pinching the sunday joint she's perfect. See if you feel the same when your one yard from home and she mullers the neighbours cat/guinea pig/yorkie/rabbit etc.though.
  5. If that was the case i would be worried about the dogs prey drive, ive heard it said ,i can call my dog of mid course usually by some gobshite in the beer tent, but ive yet to see a dog do it. Mid course is almost impossible if the dog has any drive at all. Stopping a dog that's close by and on it's own and hasn't got going yet is another matter.
  6. I think light rain in the air deadens sounds a bit so rabbits hang around longer before they hear you, same as wind. I don't think they like getting wet though as very heavy rain seems to have the opposite effect.
  7. Just goes to show no dog is indestructable. keep us updated please. No matter how long or how many dogs you run I reckon you can always learn more about injuries.
  8. I do a little bit of stonework myself, garden features and sometimes on house builds but people mostly want cheap stuff, thrown up against blockwork and I'm not wasteing what years I have left on that shit!!!
  9. Nice looking warrens and class bit of drystone work in the background Fourtrack. (Is that Tomo's ground? )
  10. They certainly have more flavor but after more than 50 years of eating rabbit I have to say I still enjoy it, pie, stew or burgers etc. Wish my wife and kids felt the same . They're fine with deer, goat or pheasant but won't even consider rabbit anymore (or squirrel) .
  11. For sure, it's owner has the best hat too . Well done lads, great night.
  12. He'll meet more snakes on here than he will lamping in UK . For sure.
  13. So do I !!! One time I was sat in a builders hut near Horncastle, Lincs. when the conversation turned to what sandwitches we had, "mine are only jam", I've got cheese and pickle", "Oh I've got squirrel". They didn't believe me at first but no-one tried a taste. It was roasted, leftover from dinner the night before. Roasted hard for a short time with plenty of fat it's ok. Quite savory really.
  14. Dont read the thread then ...I know I will only read about 10% of whats on here You're right of course but I have to look to see if anyone has thought of anything new to say about him. He doesn't work the dogs and uses any old shit greyhound, what else is there to say? A thread about Plummer might be more interesting.
  15. Probably won't be awful fast with only 3/8 grey but the rest of it sounds like a fairly useful and volatile mix. Best of luck with him Bobba.
  16. somebody was saying the same on moochers lol Cos its the truth haha i dont even know who said it as i not been on there in yonks but he sounds like a good sort haha You wouldn't like it on mouchers these days - people just argue all the time.
  17. If it works for your dogs then use it. I've stopped feeding any meal to mine but the one I used to use was twice the price of redmills and I still think they're better off without it now I've sourced a good variety of raw stuff.
  18. As said above, possibly/probably tar burning the skin on his feet. Best of luck solving it, he looks a grand strong and well balanced animal.
  19. Jesus H. not ANOTHER Hancock thread. Change the record lads.
  20. Tell us how she was bred then bobsa. I'm from Blyth myself and still have family there and you've got me curious now.
  21. Too right! If you want to eat or sell your rabbits just keep on getting her lots of easy runs and after you have hold of a rabbit, giving her lots of praise. Don't scold or tell her off but don't praise until you have a hand on it.
  22. I could go anytime between when it gets dark and when dawn breaks but if the moon is any bigger than say a quarter then I prefer to choose a time when the moon hasn't risen yet or has already set. This varies but can be checked here http://www.timeanddate.com/moon/ireland/cork I also check if the wind will rise or drop http://www.accuweather.com/en/ie/clonakilty/207659/hourly-weather-forecast/207659 and what direction it's from and as we all know, try to get between quarry and their best escape route before lighting them up. As Bosun say's, some of the "hotter" places are better visited l
  23. If someone wants to breed themselves a litter of whippets to take rabbits then the parents need enough fire to take rabbits. Many will take more than rabbits and I've seen quite a few take fox but they really aren't the right dog to use for fox. Certainly not the 19 and 20 inch ones anyway.
