  1. I really don't need to be thinking any deeper!
  2. Self awareness, awareness of consequences of choices etc rather than just programmed behaviour............ I think. I'm not really listening properly, and I should because it's shit I want to know. lol
  3. I've had a very productive day at work.... did all that podcast, did the most recent one with the comedian, Nikki Glasser, and now on one with Joseph LeDoux, a neuroscientist, talking about consciousness. Very productive!
  4. If Joe wasn't there that Corbell fella would've gone full woo woo. He said some interesting stuff but to me the pilot made the podcast. Fascinating stuff.
  5. Well, it sounds like Jigsaw thoroughly enjoyed the experience so I expect he'll be producing more....
  6. Nah, I find psychedelics interesting but he's had some plain idiots on and indulged a bit too much in it for my taste. Can't remember who, just a general feeling I've been left with so I cancelled my notifications.
  7. Thanks for reminding me about this. I had intended to watch it and then forgot! There's been some shit on the JRE recently so I've stopped my notifications but there's a few decent ones coming up still.
  8. Not suggesting it should be but it's more than a 'filler' given its vitamin, mineral and fatty acid content/proportions. It's moisture content is a little higher than muscle flesh (70%+) but not hugely. So that's a 25% reduction in calorie density vs beef etc but again it offers a lot in other nutrients.
  9. Given how fast the bacteria on green tripe dies off I'm not sure it's quite the benefit it's made out to be. I really rate tripe though, simply because the dogs look good on it and it's nutrient content is as close to complete as a single source of flesh gets.
  10. The fact that they enable perfect timing of the application and removal of 'punishing' stimulation, combined with effectively unlimited reach makes them a very powerful training tool. Especially for those who aren't expert dog trainers and have made mistakes that would take a long time or be impossible to correct through more generally accepted methods. Bottom line, for some dogs they are the difference between living a fulfilling working life and potentially living a shit or short one and I really don't see any significant negative effects on the dog from their use. Nobody ever only
  11. Mole catchers are a bit weird anyway. Lepers of the countryside I reckon.
  12. I imagine from you it would have been very gentlemanly and discreet.
  13. Buying pet cats for his terriers....... What a guy!
  14. Cheers for the posts folks. All welcome. I'd be interested to hear from anyone with experience of Wirehaired Vizlas.
  15. Sort of.... here's my stalking kit. Took me a while to find what suits me. What I carry will change through the year. For instance In the winter I might finish an afternoon stalk in a seat where it'll get f***ing 'Baltic' quick so I'll stuff a pack-able puffer in there, whereas in the summer it'd be a thin midlayer. Basic kit, Knife and paddle field sharpener Bin's with chest harness Ammo Headtorch Paracord game carrier Hat, gloves and neck gaiter Insulation and/or hard shell waterproof layers Snack and fluid Toilet roll A cou
  16. While I was reading about the carnivore diet I came across the case of the Eskimo and also I think the masai before western influence. Both ate an extremely high animal diet but as jukle has pointed out it's not at all conclusively good/healthy.
  17. https://uk.reuters.com/article/us-health-meat/steak-is-back-on-the-menu-if-a-new-red-meat-risk-review-is-to-be-believed-idUKKBN1WF283 I've been of this opinion for a while and that extends to saturated fat too. The anti meat/sat fat thing has become something of a religion! And you can see that in the responses from that lot in the article. They're essentially wanting to censor this study because it threatens their 'meat is cancer' bottom line. Anti science bullshit!

  20. That's lovely mate. I hope you can find the energy to share some more later. I'm making tracks mate. Needed a fair bit of looking in the mirror, metaphorically speaking. Met a cracking lass a few weeks back. After a few dates she ticked a lot of boxes for me but unfortunately I think she'd have struggled long term with the side of me that all of us have in common on this forum. Anyway, it's not about me but sometimes it's easier to share if someone else opens up a bit about themselves, ya know. I'm genuinely interested in the life you and your good wife had, the good times...
  21. Tell us about the good times then mate! Seriously, share with us a bit. Truth is I'm a solitary sort too, but I'm at the other end of the journey, looking for someone to share my life with. Your loss certainly hit me a little because of that but at the same time it's surely worth it. It sounds like you found a diamond!
  22. They're for when he's out 'controlling' elephants.
  23. There are no words. Just know you were lucky to have found each other.
