Might Sound Like A Bit Of An Odd Question . . . But . . .
Phil Lloyd replied to Ideation's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Nice, well balanced dog Jai.. -
Some dogs get easily upset by things and some dogs don't,..a bit like some people... It really is as simple as that Tom.... A 'leccy shock' to a dog is a complete mystery,...they have no comprehension of where the hit came from,..and as you can appreciate,..to a canine that cannot fathom out just what has occurred, the whole thing can be quite terrifying.... Maybe try to steer clear of that particular area when out at night,... Whippets can be tough wee feckers,.. time is a great healer...

C'mon now lads,...we are all hunting men on here,...and I doubt there are many who have not served a dog well,.if we genuinely felt that he deserved it.... I don't think anyone is naive or foolish enough not to realise that some dogs often need a wee bit of a chat....but that discussion is best concluded in private,..and not on the Internet.. I spend a fair bit of time around shooting men/Spaniel lads, etc and the general consensus, is that the public behaviour of this foolish film star, is akin to that of a school bully, and is embarrassing .

The last photo is a cracking image....real nice.. -
Seen the report of this amazingly cruel and heart rending event... It is a veritable fecking nightmare...and could happen to any of us A terrible situation,..it beggars belief and is frightening for all hunting men. Please accept this book ...signed by the author. Sent to the successful bidder..p&p paid.... All the best, Phil.

In my opinion,...no canine has the concentration span of the selectively bred herders...

Collie/greyhound X Deerhound/greyhound
Phil Lloyd replied to shaaark's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Hi shaaark,....back in the 1970s/1980s,...everyone I walked out with kept dogs of this breeding,..well thereabouts... As a type, it is a lovely mix of dogs and makes for a real nice hunting lurcher... I've had some great times with the Deerhound/Sheepdog/Greyhound mix.... Real glad that I owned such beautiful and loyal canine pals.. All the best, Phil -
Halcyon Days,. dear Jigsaw,..halcyon days...

Gaz,..you are a young man with your entire life ahead of you,.so, a wee bit of advice... Pay no heed, to folk who tell you what you should be doing....it is your life , not theirs... I've survived a long time,.mostly against the odds,....and I do, what I want to do,..feck anyone else... So,.start as you mean to go on .. NEVER justify yourself to strangers with jealousy issues,....just keep your true friends close,.. and feck what anyone else thinks....Forget them,.there is no profit in pacifying feckwits....trust me, I know...

Personaly,...I think it up to the man who owns the dog,.. to call the shots... Looking back through my diaries of the 1970s/1980s ,..we were running scores of rabbits,..often with real young lurchers,.and my comments on the nights activities and on each dogs performance,.would make you shudder.... We were super critical and required and expected, far more from our dogs back then and I lamped them on rabbits at an incredibly early age....and they were none the worse for it... If a young lurcher is physically up on his toes and is capable,...and the rabbits are there in abundance,..a

Fair play Bosun... Everything changes,..nothing remains the same....and the Romany/Traveller scenario is no exception.. The lads that I grew up around,..old style,.dark faced Roms, Boswells, Lees..etc...are still around,...but life is not the same. Money was always important,..always will be,...cos ya got to live,...but nowadays, the hunt for the coin supersedes everything, and old style values of trust, honesty and mutual respect,...appear to have gone the way of the Dodo Used to go to a lot of Horse Fairs,.don't know why,...I ain't a lover of the Grai,..and I certainly ain't a Tra

Respect to you fellah.... We have all said things and done things, that we perhaps should not have done,..and I am no exception to this... You have explained what you meant,...so,.done and dusted.... Personaly,...I feel that the young lad who died had some courage,... He knew his death was coming,...from afar,...and in my opinion,..he faced it with dignity. I just hope that when the Grim Reaper comes to call,....I can be as brave....

Nowadays,..it is not easy to approach an Abattoir and purchase raw tripes/pouches, etc... The entire, pet food scene is pretty much sewn up, and most slaughterhouses have their regular buyers who will take everything on offer...It is difficult to muscle in on their business....however,..it is sometimes possible to get the occasional hit ,.and when you do,.raw tripes are a definite must. I like them fresh from the cut,.. and green as can be... Never had a problem with worms ? Paunches are not as high in protein as beef,.but they do have other important values.. Mixed with Lamb b
