That is sad to hear,...but, I am incredibly old, and possibly live in the past,...so to Malham I would say, thanks for the memories...
-
Malham is good,...killed plenty round there,.and drunk plenty,.. round there....

My pal's, working stock are fed on Rabbits, Hares, Pheasants and Ducks..

I like the smell of Wild Garlic,...in fact,..back in the day, when I used to eat a rabbit,..the ones taken in the woodland chalk buries, always seemed to have that taste . It kinda permeated throughout the flesh...almost like a marrionade....

Red Welsh Sheepdog X Greyhound Seen
Phil Lloyd replied to davinci's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
They sound like an interesting type... -
In reality Millet,...unless you are in the Mafia,.where, for safety's sake, you do need to keep abreast of things,..or get whacked... It is best, not to keep close to folk, that have gone out of their way, to be nasty to you,.... No, the answer is to keep as far away from the c**ts as you possibly can and try not to allow such drama to happen again.... Well,..until the next time.....
-
I am the world's worst for allowing such things to happen,...the joke is,..I can always see it coming, from afar,..but I still insist on standing on that live rail, until the lecky hits me...

At this stage of the pup's life,..I would forget trying to feed some perfectly balanced menu which includes various greens, etc, etc..These ingredients are good things, but can be slowly introduced when he is keener on his scran. Instead,..concentrate on getting the youngster onto plenty of MEAT,..preferably raw, varied as you can. Get him enjoying his grub and eating like a ravenous Wolverine.. Throw the biscuits out for the birds,..feed the young predator on chicken, beef, lamb and plenty of oily fish.. Think of the future,..'Ye reap what ye sow'....

Just made Corned Beef Hash for dinner tonight Had to add my little twist, always cook a few extra roast spuds on sunday, mix with leftover veg and make a bubble out of it. Put the hash into ovenproof dishes, top with the bubble mix, top that with grated mature cheddar and a few slices of tomato and into the oven for it to heat up and the cheese to melt.. lovely grub. Do love homemade steak and kidney pudding or pie.. pretty much anything homemade. The wife's idea of doing the cooking involves opening packets or jars Stop it man,..pleeeze....

I virtually live, on various Curry dishes... hot and spicy...! I also love Corn Beef Hash, with some nice free range eggs...

Facts are,..there are far too many dogs in the UK...

I think the last two posters have highlighted a fact that some lads, might possibly have overlooked. It is easy to become blasi regarding Ficam W and of course, FicamD,...whereas the truth is, this compound is a fairly harmful product and should be used, with great care and preferably, by those who have an understanding of the dangers, that such a residual insecticide harbours.

Why Do Coursing Men Go Through So Many Pups?
Phil Lloyd replied to nans pat's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Well,.disregarding the various physical reasons why some coursing dogs don't go on to make the grade,...and why some guys appear to get through a lot of animals,...a very important issue would have to be their competitiveness,. pure and simple,.... -
Ficam W is a residual Insecticide Millet,...the water you mix it with, is simply the vehicle for getting the insecticide into all the cracks and crevices,.(which incidentally,.should have been scraped , brushed and dusted as clean and dry as possible,.before any treatment commences)..then,..you leave the residue in situ for at least 14 days.. Do not clean it off....

Would only echo what Trigger has said... The Dales are a unique area of the UK... For a keen rabbiting enthusiast,..some parts rate pretty darn close, to Shangri La.. It goes without saying, that in order to maximise a hunting man's day or night out, in a strange area,..you really do need guides who know the land..and this is what you are getting.. Localised knowledge is paramount, or you can waste a whole lot of time and energy, searching for that special bit of ground..For this reason alone,...the magnificent prize that the lads have offered, is made all the more valuable.
