Like those Irish travellers shake hands shake hands shake hands Yeah, I have always wondered why they do that ? There has got to be a valid reason, cos men giving fair play,.. often ask lads to shake hands,..quite early on in the fight ..? Do you know why they do this ? All the best, Phil.

Collie Training/rehab Question
Phil Lloyd replied to neems's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
He's not getting rid yet,but I think he will,he doesn't listen to anyone and things are getting worse so won't have a choice. I'm not sure I'd take her even if I could,I haven't got room for an indoor dog (especially one that isn't house trained),and not sure how she'd cope moving outside as well as moving house not to mention the work of bringing her round, which isn't something I have any experience in doing. If it came to it I may take her and re-home her myself. Goodonya for showing such a caring attitude.... BUT,....do be aware,...the Pastoral breeds are not like other -
Well,..we are all different,...and nowadays,...I only hunt the coney,...and lurchers that exhibit the amazing,.terrier-like prey drive,.. of a good working whippet,.really do fit the bill....IF I needed to hunt other quarry,..I would change my choice of canine partner,.but, as things stand,..the whippet influence in a rabbiting dog,.... suits me just fine...

C'mon bonny lads,.let's all chill out and start talking sense... I spent night after night, year after year,...killing saleable game,..never went to work,.just lived for the lamp.. and trust me,...when the quarry is, in abundance,..it sure ain't 'Rocket Science'...

For several decades, I have hunted various quarry,..all over the UK ,...and the scenery is a definite bonus to any day out. Loved every second of the journey,..but a personal favourite would have to be the fabulous stillness and feeling of complete and utter freedom that I felt, when silently mouching amidst the whins and open spaces of wild and wonderful,... 1980s Caithness....

Ruptured Cranial Cruiate Ligament
Phil Lloyd replied to LurcherLad94's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
We have experienced similar injuries to our own running dogs,...and the prognosis, for a full recovery is not good. These days, I only keep my curs as worker/pets ,.so I could maybe live with the situation...it is difficult I know,..but you must decide,... if you can -
Cracking picture,...I bet them feckers don't miss much,...whereas, my curs are so slow,..I realy do need that net

Barbed wire is a terrible fecking thing..... I try to school the dogs,.. to 'get their feet up' .... A nice clean jump often saves those dangeous gut wounds....not always, but sometimes...
