Level 2 Cert In Pest Management/control Course.
Phil Lloyd replied to a topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Well I've no fecking sympathy for you,..out every night,..at the Discoteque (or wherever it is you youngsters go to )..abusing your body,..drinking and womanising . Perhaps try staying in occasionally,.and buckling down to your studies,...instead of burning the candle at both ends You should think of the future,...cos you don't want to end up like me,.. now do ya -
Its a real difficult quandry,.no fecking doubt about that...

It takes balls to make such a move,...so well done to you.. I've had dozens,...and dozens, of different jobs,...some of them quite unbelievable... I was never any good at doing anything,...fecking useless ,...possibly 100% unemployable.... But,.the old shushis and moles saved the day,..finaly got there,..I think I'll stay put now,...

My Beating Experience..........
Phil Lloyd replied to TRUEBRIT66's topic in Driven, Walked Up, Rough Shooting
Some real sad tales,... Some real strange attitudes and lack of professionalism, seemingly taking place as well I work with commercial pheasant/partridge shoots, and no way, would beaters or pickers up be treated badly.. There is a lot of money at stake,..and for a paid day to run smoothly, it is imperative that everyone mucks in and helps the Keeper and the Guns, to get the bag...this is what is all about.... Obviously,.if a man is being shit upon or taken for a ride,..he must make his feelings known and if nothing is done,.then walk on by,...loads of shoots around the UK an -
Good to see, that some of you bonny lads have twigged onto what the craic with the cur dogs actualy is.

Often have a walk out with the Cockers,...amazing wee dogs,..full of energy and great fun,... But,.although I am offered promising pups on a regular basis,...I just cannot get into the game shooting scene...I don't mind a few days picking up, for an earner and to help out,.but a genuine lurcherman,...will always be,.. a lurcherman.

I wouldn't have a fecking clue Dave... My last foray into the darkness with an SVHS Microwave on my shoulder, was in the late 1980s/early 1990s,...and the results back then were hardly earth shattering (bit amateurish) ...I've learned my lesson,...leave it to the pros...

Just an opinion,...and I might well be wrong... But,..when using a movie camera (after dark) to capture some exciting sport with lurcher and dazzler,..the most important criteria is positioning,.... Obviously, there are several other factors,..such as plenty of light to film by,..loads and loads of critters, to have a crack at,..and dogs that are manageable,...sensible canine actors, not temperamental luvvies... Whereas,..when using a still camera, after dark to film action scenes,..there are a whole lot more factors to take into account. In fact, the basic idea and concept ain't an e

So refreshing to hear folk extolling the hunting attributes of the humble Cat... I have always rated them as being class acts, when it comes to having endless patience, superb agility and a skillful strike. We used to have great fun with the farm cats ,..mostly lamping rodents and they definitely carried rabbits around the place,..often secreteing the carcases in the straw barns for consumption at a later date...

What a grand old night you guys had.. It is always a lethal combination,..keen young lads, armed with 'up and at'em', capable jukels... Hunting amidst such Elysian Fields would be a pipe dream for most of us,..but, even though me and my fireside pot-lickers will never walk the walk,..it is still great to read about the adventures of other rabbiting enthusiasts... Keep up the good work fellas

You are right there Tiercel.... It was a thread that interests me, big time,...and it was real nice to have a wee blather and a debate amongst like minded lads, without too much,.. girlified arguing..

We started off with the rubber bands, cut from tyres, then progressed to the castration rings,..had great success with both methods of securing the head and foot lines,...then,..we changed over to using rubber grommets...These wee trinkets slid onto the poles and had a nice groove for the line to bite into..Still used a clove hitch to secure the line,..but had a far greater versatility for dropping the height of the net, to suit the various sets and locations...

Fellah,..my advice to you would be to "Let it lie".... This old internet thing, is a right queer business,...and it is so easy to get involved in 'wars of the words'.. Facts are,.there is no profit in getting upset, internets rows and falling outs are soon, yesterday's news.... Trust me,..I have been there with such foolishness from day fecking one. Silly bish/bash arguments are time wasters par excellance,..idiotic battles can never really be won...they just go on and on,...and fecking on....So,..move on... Trust me,...you will feel a whole lot better for doing so...
-
Fair play,..ya cannot moan at that...
-
@ Tiercel... Not realy a fan of unnecessary, 'up and over', posed images... Never have been and as I have been saying all my life,..the job is plenty dangerous enough, without playing silly beggars for a photo opportunity. I think a cameraman can get the same idea of a lurcher leaping a safe object, without fecking about around barbed wire fences and suchlike... In saying that,.the more competent, skillful and familiar a working dog is, with all the required disciplines,..the better.

Most Consecutive Catches Of Rabbits On The Lamp
Phil Lloyd replied to swg dave's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Back in the 1980s, I used to walk out every night,...it was not advisable to freelance during the daytime,..suicidal in fact.. Killed lots of rabbits and other stuff,... We used whatever crossbred thing that was on offer,..but, I was impressed with a certain young bitch that I owned.. She had tremendous prey drive and the minerals, stamina and physicality to match,... We never realy got on,...but fair play to her,...one night she managed 27 consecutive catches ,.before we had to leave the Golf Course.. The rabbits were awkward to catch,...quick , nimble and not eager to die,..but -
You should give these far off places a try fellah.. The UK realy is a big old place, and it seems even bigger, after dark... Personaly, I think every keen lurcherman should have at least one good day and one good night,..it seems to put everything into perspective and enables a man to move forwards without wondering and thinking, what if, etc...I've been extremely lucky, in that I have travelled all over the country and drunk from the cup of good fortune,..my hunger for killing has been well and truly sated, and nowadays, I enjoy my stays with genuine hunting men so much more.. So,..
