  1. The Magnum Trap Company Limited have over 20 main distributors...
  2. Looks like a successfull litter Deanflute,...I've only seen Blue,...and what a fine powerful animal he is. ..
  3. I can relate to your story Marshman,...many thanks for the telling of it...
  4. One thing that I have always found with Deerhound hybrids (alongside their obvious beauty) is their kind hearted nature and gentle disposition
  5. It is extremely difficult to maintain a definite line of lurchers... I've set about the task several times,.but have always taken an abrupt detour... Facts are, the hunting scene has been in a constant state of change,...and for various reasons, the goal posts get moved on a regular basis. Unless one is living in some remote area,.doing the same thing,..with the same type of dogs,..year in, year out,...it is difficult to stick with the same style of dog... Sadly, it is not difficult to become kennel blind and to put it mildly,..to keep on flogging a dead horse... The thing that s
  6. Good thread... This is something, I realy must do... No excuses,...bite the bullet and get all my gang signed up.. With lurchers, it is invariably, 'an accident,... waiting to happen"
  7. Monsters like him should be shot in the back of the head,...whack,..done and feckin dusted....
  8. I said adios,.. to the more commercial aspects of pest control,.. several years ago... As each year has progressed,..I have seen more and more trappers,..more and more educational courses /seminars, etc,..arive on the scene,..and sometimes wondered if the game was becoming a wee bit overcrowded... Facts are, like the seasons,..folk come and go,..their enthusiasm wanes, and unfortunately, the economics of paying the mortgage often plays a major part as to whether they remain as a trapper of critters, as opposed to going down the Rodenticide route... I do believe, that in the future, th

    Army Surplus

You can't beat a bit of Military Surplus clothing...but ya gotta get the best gear..
  10. Facts are,...Bert should have been helped to put a book together... Back in the day,..book writing was a mystery to most of us,...it seemed to be something that only educated men could achieve. We had no idea where to start,.no concept of Typesetters,Printers, etc. If only we had known then, what we know now... Gripton,...a great Terrierman....
  11. Whether it is a legal stipulation or not,...it is in a trappers interest to keep his arse safe,..so it is always far better to go that extra mile and show due diligence....I started off using the fabulously humane, Kania 2000 with a natural tunnel,..constructed on site,..and it was a cracking good set,.but, it pays to go with the flow nowadays,.. Best to place a tunnel in front of the striking bar lads,...you know it makes sense...
  12. Hi Colliejohn,..I have always been a champion of the cur dog,.long before the concept became popular,...however,..this thread is about the Merle colouring, so often seen in some of the herding based composites... But..whilst I could never speak for another man,...(and with all due respect to yourself,..a fellow collie lurcher devotee),...I must say (in my opinion)... the bitch you have mentioned in your post,..(if mated), would be far better served, put to a different stud than the one you have suggested..I have been privileged to have spent a fair bit of time with her,..and I know her st
  13. Yeah,..the Merle factor can produce some extremely unusual coat patterns,...got nothing to do with working ability, obviously,..but for my sins, I like the results and as stated, I find them interesting.. Possibly seeing the coloured Gypsy Cobs and Vanners, back in my youth got my eye in.. Was at my local horse fair yesterday,..met a few old pals,..had one or two beers,..we talked the talk, and run so many good hares, big Stags and fast rabbits,.that I doubt there are any poor feckers left alive in Southern England.. Not many outstanding grais on offer though,...vonga a bit thin on
  14. Wow,...so much excellant and informative information... Just goes to show how much there is to each and every discipline... Real impressive
  15. Nice to see all the various colour combos... I've always had a real interest in such things,....the pelt colouration of these dogs is so unique and individual....they might look similar, but are never the same....
  16. Sensible viewpoint and a responsible attitude Bosun... Facts are,.nowadays,..(especially where running dogs are concerned),..it realy is a Buyer's market, and not a Seller's....Free Ads and suchlike, are choc-full of 'pups for sale' images.... God knows where they all end up
  17. Young Vincento realy is a genuine Goodfellah...
  18. Feck me,..what a strange thread,...my fecking auld head is spinning... If we are still on the subject of boxing,...I always read what Gnasher has to say,..mostly because I feel he writes, with an authority, born of genuine experience.. For me,..such things mean a lot
  19. No.. The lad only ever had the one dog,...but I have seen others of this type... I do know who you mean...
  20. Back in the 1980s,..I was honoured to Judge, what was possibly, one of the first, Obedience Tests for lurchers.... The various tests were fairly basic,... not difficult or complicated and certainly nothing that would trouble the average working dog,..anyway,...amongst the motley collection of running dogs on show,..there was a particularly lithe and agile,.. Greyhound x Alsation. This dog seemed to be streets ahead (both physically and definitely cerebral) of most of his fellow competitors... His handler, although a sensible enough guy,..appeared to go out of his way to make each
  21. Too right Bosun..... Running quarry in woodland has got to rank as amongst the most dangerous games to play... Sometimes a dog can pull his target down in double quick time,..and then it is a good scenario,...nice and secluded,.everything sheltered from prying eyes,..job's a good'un.. however...it is definitely a practice fraught with danger... Best of luck to your dog Jigsaw,...he is obviously a genuine trier...
  22. Madgwick has a truly superb dog of that breeding...
  23. If you ferret rabbits on a regular. (daily) basis,...and over different terrain/areas,...sooner or later,.. the odds are,.. that you will lose a ferret... It is a rotten feeling,..travelling homewards from a location (often hundreds of miles away) knowing that you have left a man behind... Unfortunately,.it is part and parcel of the rabbiting business....sometimes, there is nothing that can be done.. No type of hunting,... is without some risk,...
