  1. I realy like Kelpies and kelpie hybrids,...fabulous animals...
  2. I love to see men exuding a genuine passion,.. about their chosen sport, pastime....etc For me, this is what truly separates the talkers ,... from the walkers....
  3. True words Forester,...but,..business is business £££ However,...in my private life,...I honestly prefer to keep myself to myself.... All the best, Phil...
  4. These comps are for those that want to,..or need to,...prove something ,..either to themselves, or to others.... We are all different,..and that is a fact... Some guys are ultra competitive and like to be winners, and others are more content in their own skin,..and some just like the quiet life.. I would obviously place myself in the latter category,..in fact, I am so fecking laid back and lazy,. some days I am comatose... I suppose the facts of the matter are,...(and possibly the truth is),...that not everyone wants to walk out , or even talk to folk, that they do not know,...i
  5. Rabbit hunting,. amidst the gorse bushes,. is always great craic....
  6. Well,.. I would rather the bitch had a few worms,.than risk dosing her,.. when she is in pup....
  7. Me too,.... Just waiting on our Dusty,...not long now,.... Hey, love that wee chavvie,...fecking brill...
  8. No way will I kill Bumble Bees.. C'mon now....FFS....
  9. I've seen one or two dogs act like that Paul.. As for silly feckers who slip their lurcher onto a dog running a rabbit,.or whatever,..coming straight down the beam towards ya,.well,.this is an extremely dangerous practice,.and the dopey feckers need to get their act together... So, getting back to your mates dog,.no, I don't consider this to be the action of a lurcher that quite plainly doesn't want to continue with a chase,..and who simply peels off,.. and gives up...but more a cautious response to a previously bad experience.... and the pain that went with it... For a dog to a
  10. I'm not much of a team player fellah,....and I hate censorship,...everyone has a right to speak their mind... The job of a Moderator is not easy and requires certain, people skills,.. that I do not possess.... In truth, I am not worried what anyone does or says, just as long as they don't involve me.. The only thing that boils my piss,... is when low-life folk,.. tell LIES....and speak with forked tongue... I'm not interested in feeble scripts which begin with, " I heard,..I thought,...or,..my mate said",...etc,.etc.... We are all hunting men on here, so lets keep it fecki
  11. It would be cruel and unjust to censor folk,..for the style in which they contribute towards a thread.... The criteria for wrist slapping, and any subsequent adjudication thereafter, should always be on what they write,..not how they do it... Argument, disagreement and controversy, are part and parcel of any successful Forum,...as this unique one can attest,...however,.deliberate shit stirring and the spreading of lies, simply to cause personal hurt,..should always be stamped upon,.immediately...and those that choose to sit back and allow obvious injustice to occur, or worse still,.joi
  12. For years I fed my lamping dogs on whole carcases, rabbits, Hares,.Pheasants,.. and road kill deer,... Nowadays,.I prefer to sell my meagre catch and use, some of the money, to purchase raw green tripes,.chicken backs, etc,.. I've also been mixing the tripes, oily fish, etc,..with a feed of Arden Grange, that I purchase from a local Gundog enthusiast.. My dogs today,...are a bit cur like,..they are not a patch on those of the 1970s/1980s,...and lack the rippling muscles and six pack physique of my night workers,..but then, so do I..... Stamina wise,.there is no comparison at
  13. Yes, I've seen some exciting hunts with various birds of prey,...but, got to admit, I've never fancied owning one...
  14. Too right... We often bolt rabbits for Hawking enthusiasts,..Corporate Days, paying guests, etc,..and it is noticeable, that the guys who have done a bit of hunting,.and who know the score,..always seem to have their birds in good yarak and are mentally primed and ready,.. to intercept the bolt... All the best, Phil.
  15. You are right,..I've seen some big un's on The Plains,..when out rabbiting with the ferrets...
  16. @Fuji.... I agree, it is all getting a wee bit serious...
  17. Nice post Country Joe,.. As an aside,..some dogs have tremendous prey drive,.they are determined to secure their prize and will give every run their fullest attention...Truth is, it is their amazing need to, come to terms, with their prey that makes them the animals they are...These types are obviously harder to school, than those of a less relentless attitude,..it can be done, but its a battle.... It is also difficult to keep track of lurchers when you have a team of dogs working along a massive length of hedgerow or standing on top of a hundred holer,...the action can sometimes be fa
  18. Fecking love it,...and so do the dogs... I watch them having a hunt most evenings,..we don't catch much,... the rabbits/hares usualy make their escape, in much the same way,..I could run a wee stop net or two along the edge of the field,..but I won't....it would spoil the fun... As for paid jobs,.removing rabbits from under sheds/buildings..or culling a few brace, doing damage in a tree nursery, or walled garden,.well, I'll always borrow a ferret and get myself a bit of vonga...£££ But,..I can't take the Summertime rabbiting seriously,..and over the years I have found patience t
  19. Good luck with the pups,...and I hope to see you, out and about, this coming season... All the best, Phil.
  20. @~Borderscot... That pup must have an amazing temperament...
  21. Actually Vin,.there was a brace of these diminutive wee poleys,...I bred them,.. in my yard . They were off Sock's Four Toes ...and a Dark Polecat dog,..that came from an unwise breeding program, twixt a Micro ferret and a half wild Poley,.. . There was only four kits in the litter, two big un's and two weenies. I gave Mouse , plus her larger sister, to Socks and I retained a pair for myself. Both of the dinky 'un's worked superbly and they bolted a lot of rabbits,.. but, I found mine, to be a tad on the flighty side for my liking, so gifted her,.. to a Hawking buddy. Personal
