Yeah,.ya gotta watch out for some dogs,.or they will kill themselves.... I once had an exceptionally prey driven, Collie/Greyhound pup,.she was about five months of age. We was out checking wires, and as I drove into the field,.scores of rabbits were running back towards the edge of the wood. The pup saw them in the headlights and made a lunge, straight at the windscreen,..whack,...knocked itself spark fecking out Its good to own keen dogs,.but you sometimes have to protect them, ..or they will never make old bones..

If Deerhounds Aren't What They Were
Phil Lloyd replied to No eye deer's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
The BEST of this type,...show a steady, confidence ,.born of an inner power and obvious physicality.. They accept training willingly, and respond well, to a firm , but consistent hand... The BEST of this type are have a superb temperament,..well balanced mentaly, and stand four square,.perfectly made for the running job,.. armed with a powerful gin-trap, strength of jaw,..enabling them to pull enough saleable quarry,.. to earn their corn. However, the worst of this type,...are a bit fecking poor.... -

Well,.first pup from my hotch-potch litter of Hampshire Hedgrow Curs went today. I'm a wee bit of a soft fecker these days,.and it is always sad when a pup leaves home,..but, it is an occurrence that is perfectly natural, and one that must be faced, by any conscientious breeder.. I wish you a good life wee fellah,..and do be lucky All the best, Phil. Ianto

Personaly,....I think what keeps you young,..is hanging out with younger keen hunting men,.. or bringing on,. a new pup..Obviously,..if there is money to be earned,..that helps... But,. a big incentive for me, is in travelling around the UK and getting in some real interesting days and nights out,... I've killed more than enough game in my life,....nowadays,.. I want good craic,..good company and most of all,..quality,....not just quantity.... All the best,..Phil.
