The few dogs that I've seen, lost in action..were shot from a fair distance... As for letting loose the jukel, if cornered or challenged,..that is the worst fecking thing to do...A lurcher running across a field, often gives trigger happy feckers, carte blanche to whack it... If it comes on top,..hold fast your dog and try and keep him tight in behind you,.. be prepared to defend him,..Don't let anyone take the dog from your hand.... If you are going to get done,..you might just as well have a battle,..

Nowadays,..I like to sell my rabbits ,..but when I do get a surplus,.I freeze them for a short while,.then simply chop-chop the carcase, straight down the middle.

Poaching is great craic,..until you get caught...

Real atmospheric images,... Personaly, I've never been an early morning guy,...and for a rabbit snarer, that can spell disaster Many times I've arrived, an hour too late for the party, and the crows have beat me to it...no excuses... I put it down to the years and years, of doing nothing, but night walking. If I said that I am an insomniac, it would be an understatement.... However, when I do haul my sad carcase, out of the bed and get up on the Downs at dawns first light,...it is truly awe inspiring.. I must change my ways,.I rarely walk out after dark these days and use

Phil Lloyd replied to FUJI's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
FUGI,..never feel that you are putting up, too many images....,.. I rarely post any photos,...I am a bit of a private person with regards to action pics, catches, etc.... However, folk love to see, photos of running dogs, whether they are running, jumping,.rolling the shit, whatever,.. They are 'our thing',...so please keep on,.keeping on.... -
As I said ,...it is not a good thing to encourage a rabbiting/coursing jukel to get involved with farm livestock....Unless there is a financial reason, to make their acquaintance,..I would advise all lurcher enthusiasts, to steer clear of steers,..it will only end in tears. All the best, Chalkwarren..

It was nice to hook up yesterday and have a quiet walk out,..it has been a year or so, since me and Sock's stood over a warren together..I don't venture into his area of the South much, as most of my work keeps me here in Hampshire and West Sussex,.but it was nice to get out of the dark woods and back into the bright sunlight... It was also rewarding to see Tilly in action...most enjoyable in fact.. With all new pups,.especially those that are destined to follow, the net and ferret game,..it is imperative that they have an early education, in a calm and collected schoolyard, with tutor

I've no doubt, this fecker knows exactly, where the remains of the poor wee girl are... There are ways to encourage him to loosen up,..hopefully he will be given something to relax his mind... Personaly,..I don't think such creatures should be allowed to live,. just execute him quickly, a shot in the back of the skull,.with a minimum of fuss,...then drop him in a lime pit... Done and dusted... Vermin....

Why not have the craic regarding such matters,...it is only chatting,..and the next best thing, to actually being out hunting, is talking about hunting... Personaly,..I am as keen as ever,...but a paid job is what realy fires me up,..and although there is extra pressure on,...there is also a need to get things done and dusted,...and no time for fecking around and making too many mistakes...This is a real turn on for me,..and brings all the years of practice into play... Whereas,.being a lazy kinda fecker by nature,.my natural tendency is always to have a mouch and a quiet wander... S

Are The Best Dogmen Work Shy Dole Bums?
Phil Lloyd replied to baw's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
When I was 'resting' ,..and unemployed,...I definitely had far better running dogs.. No question about it,...and the reasons were fairly obvious,...I slept by day,..and I walked by night...every night.... I trespassed everywhere, and hit anywhere, I fecking liked... My attitude was also different,...and I would not entertain a quitter, a jibber, or any canine that could not earn his corn.. This kind of behaviour and total callousness, towards my chosen quarry and hunting partners,.was shameful... Thank feck, I grew up and smelt the coffee,..... Now,.I am a spent force,.grate -
blackgreyhound,..I have been real close,.. to a medium sized,..big cat and it now stands forever,in a glass case

Any One Had This Before With Moles
Phil Lloyd replied to Mark White's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
The fact that things ain't going to plan,..does not always signify that traps are being interfered with... Personaly,..I can tell immediately if any of my tools have been tampered with,..however,..perhaps it might be wise to spread the fine soil from the tumps,..in a wide circle,..all around your set traps.... Then,..unless a fiddler can fecking levitate,..you will see definite signs, that he has been mouching around -
Malamutes Have Got No Bottle Ha Ha
Phil Lloyd replied to blackgreyhound's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I get everything,.. that you are saying, implying and suggesting.... However,.in my opinion,...the creation of such a powerful canine,..given the ever shrinking UK countryside,.is neither warranted or in any way,..practical. But,..it is a free country,..and a hunting man,.. has a perfect right to dream... -
Nice post FUJI I would love to experience such a feeling, of complete elation,.. twinned with an obvious personal triumph and physical achievement... I must climb more hills and mountains,..visit more wild places,.....whilst I am still able...
